[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

Genoa have had a verbal offer of £4m turned down so how that translates to him being on the verge of signing for them I don't know.

You really are a bore.

Lech Poznan let their star player go to watch Genoa - as they are allowing him to talk to Blackburn Rovers and go and look at Borussia Dortmund.

How close do you want a deal to be?

There IS money to spend...

There just seems to be a bit of a disagreement about how to do deals.

Someone from your club invited Lewandowski over last weekend - and wants him back in a fortnight.

You don't do that with a player under contract unless you have permission of his club [Lech Poznan] and that club thinks you are doing business at the price quoted.

If someone wants to leak after that - to the local paper and around the circuit - that they don't want to buy him at that price then there seems to be a serious communication problem within the building.

At the end of last week Rovers had a fighting chance of doing this deal. Now I am not so sure.

I'm not so sure this is as strange as you imply. Pound to a penny that when Allardyce was recruited, Jersey insisted on the money side being kept firmly in JW's hands. Innocent until proven guilty is fine unless it's your money at stake, in which case, having fee negotiation kept with the chairman negates any risk that the Panorama claims had any substance.

Given the situation Allardyce was in where he desperately needed to restore his managerial credentials after Newcastle, he would have said yes to this But I cannot imagine him saying to clubs, 'Oh, you'll have to ask my boss about the money'; more likely he'll be blustering away that 5 million is no problemo and then looking to do another Salgado on the boss.

Pure speculation of course.

How do you work that one out? If it doesn't work we'll get our money back anyway?

No! We get a fee back, obviously less but a fee. Especially if he is good in a certain league then there will always be interest from similar leagues.

If you pay out £5m, he flat lines but you get £2m back then it isn't so bad. It is unlikely he will do a rigters and just disappear off the face of the earth.

Well we have a freelancer writing for the Mirror Group with a good track record of transfer accuracy, a guy from Corriere della Sport, a Sky writer, an agent's runner, various folks with good but unmentionable contacts, our very own news editor Kamy and new dark horse Ewood and I would....

We are spoilt for choice as to whom we believe.

Incidentally, EiT could be hitting the nail on the head if Sam has slipped back to naughty ways again. Personally, I think the Salgado-type episodes became a thing of the past after he was overwhelmed by how the club and JW in particular reacted to his heart problem.

What's the opinion on Lewandowski in Italy? We're all going off Youtube videos. Do those in the know think he's worth the hype?

I have never seen the lad play mate.He certainly will not be a starter at Genoa,he is not Genoa's first choice striker target.

He would be 4th choice striker at Genoa,if as expected Suazo returns to Inter and they release Giuseppe Sculli at the end of the season, and they get one of their main targets.

That may well be to your advantage.

a Sky writer, an agent's runner,

What is a Sky writer?.And which agent?.

And not Jason Roberts no. Doubt anyone on here would know the player anyway.

Someone who writes for Sky. By agent runner I am guessing he means Unleaded? A poster on here who seems to work for an agent/agency.

Seems we are playing a dangerous game here. If he is our number one target then go for him. The fee isn't unreasonable or out of our range, so pay it. Worst case scenario it won't be a huge waste of money, but if we miss out on a guy who starts knocking in 15-20 goals a season in a top league we'll really regret it.

don't think he is out of contract but according to the star he is one of seven set for the chop

my mate supports bolton and says with the exception of gardner they will be lucky to get shot of the rest.

Surely Coyle is looking for a clear out. I know he talks positive but he must realise deep down there are few at bolton built to play his way. Failing to score 9 in 13 tells its own story

If you say so.

If your so clued up on the deal, who do Lech want to sign as Lewandowski's replacement?.

I'm not clued up, I just took the time to read the damn article in the LET. It seems most of you stopped short of Kamy100s innaccurate version of it...

This is what I was referring to...

Genoa and Borussia Dortmund are also in the race to sign the striker, with the Italians already having a verbal bid for in the region of £4.3m turned down

A verbal bid isn't even official even when you forget they were turned down.

This all started when Kamy100 said something along the lines of "Dortmund and Genoa have met the valuation but Rovers are haggling". In fact, it seems to me all parties are trying the same thing and thus if we are his preferred choice then we hold more cards than Genoa or Dortmund.

If Genoa make their bid in writing, and make it £5m or Dortmund make a bid at all then I will be worried but until then I don't see what Rovers are doing wrong.

Also, no one has thought that these stories might originate from Lech, trying to get us to move quicker and bid higher for aplayer they know wants to come to us (if the other bit in the LET, if any of it, is true)

I'd think that's massive. We'd be offering him first team football week in week out without a doubt.

That guy in your local paper doesn't seem to understand how transfers work.Surely he doesn't get paid?.

If Lewandowski comes to your club on May 3rd,both clubs will have agreed a transfer fee in writing signed by both chairmen.

Lech would not let Lewandowski discuss personal terms with a club before the transfer fee was sorted between the clubs, that never happens.

Nicko is it true Coyle is releasing Ricardo Gardner.

Wouldn't mind sam picking him up. Always though he was decent and is pretty versatile.

I don't think he's what we need. He's def not the creative midfielder we're crying out for.

We have enough aging mids with limited skillsets, why add another one?

Can you look into your crystal ball and tell me the Lotto numbers this week?

Lech Poznan Samir Stilic wonder if Sam has had a look at him while we have been scouting over there., Bosnian AF, 22 year old, a 1 in 4 ratio, supplier of most of the good balls that Lewandowski is on the end of.

Current value circa 3m Euro, two years to run on his current contract.

I'm sure you will know how to find him so no links needed.

If Lewandowski is still under contract, he only talks to other clubs directly with their permission. Lech might have strange ideas about how to get the highest price or might be being nice to their player but it's not a good idea from their standpoint not to have a price screwed down before he talks to new clubs.

As for the LT being uninformed, I am afraid that is normal these days from that paper.

Guest Kamy100

Lancashire telegraph reports that the ledowaski is to have talks with dortmund today, with his club keen to sort the deal out by the end of the week. They report that his preferred destination is rovers, but we are unlikely to meet the 5 million askiing price.

More about Lewandowski.

Dortmund to clinch Lewandowski

To Roberto Policano: This article says that Lewandowski have been in talks with Sampdoria (the other Genoa club). I thought it was Genoa FC he had visited.

This article says that Dortmund will clinch Lewandowski in front of Blackburn Rovers. This is taken from the German paper Bild and I guess you can't trust everything written there either.

It also says that : "unofficially, the deal is done" for a fee of 5 million Euros". Which for me means that the price Lech Poznan want is 5 mill euros, but the clubs are haggling over it.
