[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

Recommended Posts

Thats just standard procedure, surely you don't think a player is aloud to speak to a club about personal terms before the transfer fee is agreed?.

Look at what I highliighted from your post. You said...

"both clubs will have agreed a transfer fee in writing signed by both chairmen"

If you have said "may have" then I wouldn't have said anything but all I wanted to know was how you were sure that both clubs definetly would meet the asking price.

Having said, that judging by this I'm not suprised we'd get outbid when we've only offered a fiver for him!!! :D

I confess that I know nothing about the Polish guy, but it is annoying that a supposed number 1 target might go somewhere else since we have been farting about over the fee. It makes me feel we may be missing out on a good player, and I fear another season with only 1 half decent striker or some dobbin being brought in for the sake of it (e.g. Benjiani).

IF we want him, we will get him.

I dont believe the hype of these other clubs - if we dont sign him & one of them do, then I think it will purely down be our decision not to pursue him, not the one of the player or his club!

Hughesy, I think you are seriously overrating our appeal. Clubs miss out on players all the time.

I think you are seriously under-rating how good JW is at talking players into joining....Sam isnt bad either - hence why the lad wants to come here.

Beside the Pole, the Argentinian and Dindane, is there any other player we're looking at now?

What happen to all the previous targets we were looking at in Jan eg the South Korean kid and Ben Arfa?

Lets not forget the annually linked Janko & Davies!

its going to be the likes of Kevin Davies, Benjani, Beattie that’s going to come up. I wonder if we miss out on Lewandowski, if we might have a look at Crouch. He is not getting much game time at Spurs, and Sam has previously said that he liked the look of Crouch. However, it’s a pity its Spurs where he is at, as Levy might want between 10 to 15mill for him

Crouch wanted 90k a week to go to Sunderland - big time Charlie....no chance.

Robbie Keane however?!

i agree crouch is not the answer... keane would be great to play off niko as he always drops back in the hole and he also has the pace... a year loan would be great...

I have never seen the lad play mate.He certainly will not be a starter at Genoa,he is not Genoa's first choice striker target.

He would be 4th choice striker at Genoa,if as expected Suazo returns to Inter and they release Giuseppe Sculli at the end of the season, and they get one of their main targets.

That may well be to your advantage.

I don't buy it. Genoa have made a £4.3 million bid to sign a fourth choice striker? Nonsense. They are Genoa, not Real Madrid. They don't have 4 million quid to spend on reserve team strikers. :wstu:

was just a thought Hughesy...

Boselli linked with Roma

Dont worry - I'm sure he'd rather come to Rovers with Big Sam and John Williams rather than the current Serie A leaders and playing in the Stadio Olimpico each week...

Not sure how to take the Lewondowski situation... We've moved very early to secure our number 1 target and face missing out due to messing around over the fee. Surely an idea of the price would have been known to go so far as him having talks with the manager AND inviting him over to watch a game. Fair enough it is a large part of our supposed tranfer budget but we do have a large number of players we should be looking to move on to free up on wages and to possibly bring in some funds.

With regards to Pedersen and people stating it will cost a lot to replace him... ######. What exactly has he contributed recently? There is no reason to suggest we cant pick up someone similar at the end of their contract who is actually suited to playing in centre midfield. A change of clubs is best for both Rovers and Pedersen-he's gone stale and needs a change of scenery.

So we can't pay the relatively low price to bring in the Pole but it will be easy to replace Pedersen? What will we pay that fee with then?

If we can't pay 5 million euros for a 21 year old striker when he is our number one target then I really don't know....

The only good thing about this is that there should be a result by the end of the week. Even if it is a negative one.

I agree it shouldn't cost a lot to replace pedersen in terms of ability and form (although it has improved of late) ... but the last thing our midfield needs is another mediocre 'filler'.

Quality not quantity needs to be the goal in midfield this summer. We can afford to offload more bodies there than are required to be brought in.

I'm not sure you read the part where he said we must be able to bring in a similar player at the end of his contract. A key part of his argument, of course, is that Pedersen is total bobbins. Which I'm pretty close to agreeing with.

im not too bothered about MGP leaving, as it gives Olsson the chance to make that position his own. Olsson is younger, and offers us much more than Pedersen in terms of attacking ability. Olsson can also cover at left back, which is a plus to have.

If the board were willing to splash out on Adam Johnson, then surely Lewandowski falls in that bracket of young and promising. We still have players to get rid of, and wages to save so im not exactly sure what is happening. As I said before, I was told the budget will be small, but I cant imagine it being 5mill or less surely not.

More from the LT

ROBERT Lewandowski was expected to meet with Borussia Dortmund today as Lech Poznan look to tie up a quick sale of their striker.

The Polish international has already met with Italian outfit Genoa, having been unable to visit fellow suitors Blackburn Rovers on Saturday due to the cloud of volcanic ash, with his club keen to seal a deal soon.

The 21-year-old is believed to favour a move to Ewood Park and the Premier League but the £5million the Poles are believed to be asking for is unlikely to be met by Rovers.

So far none of the interested trio have matched Poznan's valuation, with Genoa having a bid in the region of £4.3m turned down, although the Poles are believed to be willing to receive the asking price in instalments.

Lewandowski said: “Everything will become clear soon, but the clubs have to talk.

"A lot depends on Lech as they have to agree a deal with one of the potential new clubs.

“Each of the clubs are attractive for me. I don’t think there is a big difference if I end up playing for either one of these clubs.

“I don’t know if it is a big fee. I don’t decide that. Of course there is still a chance that I could stay at Lech Poznan.

"Nothing is certain.”
