gumboots
if we are looking for a striker, why not the current top scorer in france, kevin gameiro? only 22 and are being considered playing in the national team. plays for FC Lorient, mid table team. Have watched him several times and despite his small height he is strong and fairly quick and reads the game well. However, there are rumours aplenty about some big European teams having their eyes on him and whether he would adapt to our style of play, without someone like Marama Vahirua pulling the strings and putting in the passes for his goals is another question. Vahirua and Gameiro are mates off the pitch as well, and they know one another's game very well. You can tell that when you watch them and see them play often enough. Even in preseason when they were all a bit rusty you could see the understanding. If we still had a master craftsman like Tugay to do the Vahirua job or if Pedersen were anywhere near at his best, or even if we still had Bentley, then Kevin would work out. But even if his price were within our reach, (and I suspect it might not be as , although he's joint top scorer with Niang of Marseille, he doesn't take penalties, and all of his goals have come from open play, which makes his scoring record even better and therefore probably boosts his price) I'm not sure how many he'd score in the Premier league. I know French clubs don't usually get high fees for their players, but I suspect in this case Loic Fery and Gourcuff just might demand one. PS Lorient have just beaten Bordeaux and could even qualify for Europe themselves next season. They sit in 7th and could get higher, looking at their remaining fixtures. Stuart
How do you pronounce that exactly? Does he play like he sounds? Would anyone have that name on the back of their shirt? I might be tempted, actually! I was trying to work that out as well. Is it like Sh1tty or Cheater?

ewoodpo
According to the papers Everton are favourites to sign Beckford from Leeds . He is out of contract and would be a good addition to our squad. He has had a poor second half of the season however , I think that's because he probably wanted a move in he January window and Leeds didn't allow it. Now I'm not saying he is the answer to out striker crisis, he would make a quality addition to our squad.

Ask a leeds fan their opinion on Beckford, you not get a glowing report, infact most hate him. He has abit of pace for that level but his overall game is mid table championship at best.
