[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

Recommended Posts

Have seen them both play a couple of matches this season. Both are young and promising players. Still early in the season here in Norway, so maybe a bit early to say if the are able to keep the same quality of play a whole season.

According to Wiki they've both played quite a few games before this season though, and Pedersen has 14 goals in 32 games, which suggests he can keep it going...have you not seen them in previous seasons then?

Dindane scores again, unfortunatley this may push his price up. Still hope we can get s deal done for him soon

How much further up the league would we be if we'd signed Dindane in January? He looks a bigger goal threat than our other strikers at present.

We'd still be exactly where we are with the "lone striker on an island" tactic BFS employs.

Not just because he scored today, but I think Dindane would be a good signing for us. He has pace, something we lack, and has performed really well in a struggling team.

Also, importantly, Sam appears a good judge of player and has wanted him for a while.

Separately, Wenger on Nzonzi: “He is a good player, but we are linked with so many players that I can’t deny every wrong rumour. At the moment we are not on any case in a concrete way.”

A striker and a midfielder if wiki is correct. Have you seen them play Maverick (or any other Norwegian football followers)? Some good potential there?

Don't know much about Fellah, but have seen quite a bit of Pedersen, seing as he plays for my local team.

He's the kind of striker who can actually work as a lone striker. He chases everything down, doesn't give defenders a moment peace and jumps into every challenge. I would think he's a nightmare to play against.

He's a bit hot-headed in front of goal (doesn't think too much, just smashes it goalwards), but has a good shot on him.

Not sure he's quite ready for the PL yet, but could be and at least has potential.

And just as I type that, he scores with a nice finish one on one with the goalie..

I'm pretty sure Sam wouldn't have deployed Dindane as a lone striker, he's only 5'8. More than likely he would have been used as a wide striker, that's how Pompey have used him when Piquionne has lead the line.

He could easily have been the difference in the Wolves and Pompey games, putting us into the top half.

Think if Dindane was going to happen then another striker would not be needed. That is providing Roberts stays which is questionable as not sure he wants to be on the bench at this stage of his career.

Sam said two players max would be coming in, or 3 if MGP leaves, therefore presumably a central midfielder (finally) is in thoughts?

Of course we cannot spend what we don't have but without TV deal money we could have looked at having a near zero transfer budget(?). At the moment, who knows, but it looks like £5-7 million max.

Also, will be interesting to see if there any backroom staff additions, Sam hinted in his RoversWorld interview that he wanted to improve this area.

As I said before, Dindane was thought of as being the better player than Kalou.

Except one is 24 and playing for Chelsea, while the other is nearing 30 and with Pompey.

I think 'impact' is being misunderstood here.

Sam is saying he wants someone who can come in and play straight away, rather than someone who will take time to adjust. In other words, not another Kalinic.

I don't think he means an impact type of player on the pitch.

Dindane now has 10 for the season, in his 1st prem season, with a much poorer side around him!!! But apparently he isnt good enough for us

Why has this sudden belief emerged that Dindane is the answer to all our striking woes? Because he's scored 3 goals in the last 2 games? His first finish last week was hardly clean, and everyone seems to have forgotten his awful misses earlier in the season. He is also blatantly playing harder for a move. He seems similar to Roberts to me, in that he is a good worker for the team but far from a natural finisher. I'll be happy if we get him at a sub 2 million fee and use him down the flank, but not as a striker or centre forward.

Chuck, I'd really hope any player we expect to come in and play straight away will have an impact on the pitch!!

He seems good and does have re-sale value. But surely we are not looking for a left back right now.

Dindane seems to be keen on move and he has been very good lately. £3M and he is close to sign. Strikers cost and we don´t have chance to buy proven goal scorer in good age. So we must look for a young talent like Lewandowski who shouldn´t cost too much yet. His price tag seems to be too much for us though. Dindane is between there. He has decent record this season but maybe has more potential. We don´t get much better so go for him Sam.

I just have a feeling the dindane deal won't get done and he'll end up at the likes of bolton or Stoke

I'd like him here though

Oh come on. Cameron Jerome has even scored 10 in the PL this year! For me Dindane at 29/30 represents a poor deal for any fee above £1m. We are throwing the fee away in the hope that he will his fee back through an increased league position, which in all honesty I don't see him doing. He is nothing better than what we have and his finishing ability is marginally better than Roberts and he doesn't have the amazing physical abilty that Roberts has. The only plus point I see to his game is his pace and he isn't lightning fast. He has increased his game to try and win us over.
