[Archived] Potential Summer Transfers (2010)

Recommended Posts

The things is, all those players your selling under 'SA' have helped us to a very successful season, and sam didn't sign them thinking they were world beaters, he signed them to do a job as a squad on a limited budget, with limited time and we have achieved a respectable league position, so you can't really complain!

Personally i think Kalinic will prove you wrong in the next couple of years!

Would it be worth selling... say Samba if we got £15m an re invested in other areas of the team i.e. quality midfielder as well as a proven striker??

Our best player by far - No thanks!

I wouldnt sell Samba for £15m....£20m id be tempted.

Get rid of:

Pascal - SA signing

Diouf - SA signing

Jacobsen - SA signing

Kalanic - isnt good enough - SA signing

Di Santo - not good enough - SA signing

Players who made real strides this season:

Jones - already here

Olsson - already here

Sam's good signings:

N'Zonzi

Givet

Salgado

Maybe Sam's take on a player isnt that good. I think with the limited budget we have he has to do some serious scouting this summer, we cannot waste any of this limited spend we have.

Sam's good signings also - Givet.

Jacobsen did great - however he hasnt got in the side since he got injured.

Chimbonda looked good too - however when his form was dodgy he was taken out & has never got past Salgado since.

Kalinic - Young, raw potential - far from a failure!

Di Santo - Agreed he hasnt worked out

Diouf - Did the crucial job when needed...also scored a couple of vital goals this season - Time to move on I agree

As for Jones & Olsson - who were they prior to Sam getting them settled?? Nobody's!

vintageadidas, what are you on. Di Santo will be going anyway. Get rid of Kalinic, he is young and will improve. Good way to lose money in 12 months. As for the others, who is going to spend money on them 3.

personally i would like to see us try for a wide man who can deliver the ball into the box consintenly. theres been no delivery since bently left get rid of peds at least it would free up some wages. at the very least we have olson there and im hoping next season we will see a little more of hoillet.

I can not expand on specific details but when we sold RSC & Warnock last year that balanced the books and there is no real need to sell players. With Jones & Nzonzi on long term contracts there is no need to sell so we can safely say both NZonzi & Jones will def. be here next season. As for sell Samba whoever said that is mad with us in a financially stable situation again no need to sell.

this statement is as bad as the person on 606 suggesting spending 5M on N.Maynard & 3M on I.Harte. Granted Chimbo,Jacobsen, should be sold but lets be fair, with Diouf he has had tonsellitis so its hardly fair to get rid as he has been useful at times. Remember he got that vital goal against Chelski, and has been said both Chimbo & Jacobsen are on the transfer list but obviously we need bids to come in. As for Kalinic are you mad he is our top scorer in the cup so he has the goals in him,but playing up there on his own is hard when we get a partner for him up front he will be fine. suggesting getting rid is like setting fire to the 6M we paid for him and he will come good. With Kalinic you are forgetting if it wasn't for the blind assistant he should have had 1 goal against Utd. Spurs he was fouled on the edge of the box so a goal would have been fair. Am sure there was one other incident when he was denied a goal which should have stood so in truth he should have 3 more goals than what is reflected. DiSanto is also going back in the summer yes he is not good enough but at least we gave it a shot and it didn't work out not lost much.

I really dont know how Kalanic has got this "cult" status? He is raw, i give him that but he hasnt really shown me anything to prove he is Prem quality yet. I just dont see it....maybe Sam has a different formation planned for next season as we have played with three against the back at Wolves and played 4-2-3-1 against Arsenal. So maybe we can see a better player next season but at the moment he does not and i repeat does not fit into the current formation and tactics that we play. So unless he changes his style to suit us or as aforementioned Sam changes ours, he is totally wasted.

I stand by what i say and if proven wrong i will be happy as he will have banged in plenty of goals.

We are crying out for someone to link midfield with the one up top. That must be our priority signing.

And dont think my opinions are idiotic i travel everywhere with the club and am entitled to express what i believe.

Maybe because he is our best striker. When played in the way he should do he is always a threat at goal. Next season is when he really comes through, you can't expect a young foreign striker to make an instant impact.

If you sell him then we have no strikers as Roberts would quite like a move as well.

I would be inclined to agree about Kalinic I think the lad has talent but we never get to see it the way Sam plays him, lone target man he isnt.

He will blossom more playing with another striker but if Sams intentions are to stick with the lone front man then I feel its 6 mill we could have spent on a creative midfielder.

I think we will see the best of Kalinic next season. The trouble is Sam is getting his team together bit by bit and that means his style is equally slow in taking shape. I honestly believe our wide players will have to be improved to see the best of Kalinic and us as a team. Its important to remember Sam is all about percentages and maximising as much of the game as possible. This is reflected in our formation. When it works and has personnel in it capable of carrying it out, it makes it much more flexible than a 442. The wide players need more energy and if we can improve this over the summer it may mean we have 3 attackers as opposed to just 1. With the correct wide players we should be able to defend in numbers and bring more to attacking situations thus supporting Kalinic.

Some would argue Sam should have implemented this by now. But on such small transfer budgets its very difficult. One thing is for certain, Kalinic should not be sold. Its crazy to even discuss it. He may not be a big bruiser type of target man. But his technique is such that it allows us to retain posession. I appreciate his goal tally is not outstanding yet, but i'm sure it will improve significantly next year.

Kalinic has cult status? What a load of shhhh.. I think the reality is most of us see him as potentially a good forward for the club. I do agree he isn't best suited playing as the lone frontman in a 4-5-1 which seems to be Sams prefered formation. There's no chance he will leave this summer and who knows maybe Sam will go 4-4-2 next season (doubtful) so let's stick with nico ( not to mention if we let him go this summer as someone suggested we would be left with one out and out striker on our books ). Some people are just a bit thick, regardless of how long they've watched football.

Nicko, give us a wave.. Nicko, Nicko, give us a wave!

Not much to tell...

LEWANDOWSKI...still the manager's first choice. Not signed for anyone yet, so the price may even drop.

DINDANE...possibly going elsewhere...you can't go for him because he is not your first choice.

NELSEN...staying despite the rumours.

LEDLEY...I have my doubts about that one.

Sam is on the record as saying he only needs 2 players. I wonder if Lewandowski/Dindane + Ledley is what he hopes for?

I don't know why managers throw numbers about like that...it never works out that way.

About as much use as an exit poll at an overcrowded polling station.

Is there anything in the Klasnic, Mendy and Canella rumours?

Klasnic is unlikely to stay at Bolton, but I don't see him fitting the Rovers bill at all...not yet anyway. He scores goals but does little else. And that is an issue for most clubs in the Prem.

Mendy is a dud. You have about six right backs anyway.

Canella is way too expensive and a classic case of an agent floatng a link to find another club for him. Like Wigan [maybe].

It's a case of finding a goalscorer...and then move on from there.

Right been thinking, with our embarrasment of riches at CB... Nelson / Givet / Samba / Jones

Would it be worth selling... say Samba if we got £15m an re invested in other areas of the team i.e. quality midfielder as well as a proven striker??

We would then have Jones / Givet at CB and Nelson as back up, i know its a risky strategy....

As usual, if we were to sell Samba for a huge amount of money, there would be very little of it used to strengthen the rest of the team. So unless we are in the same financial position as say Portsmouth, then we have no need to sell him. More importantly, he is our best defender. Givet is the only other one that we can rely upon at the moment. Phil Jones has shown that he has a lot of talent and is a brilliant option to step in when needed. But I wouldn't want to put too much pressure on him. Nelsen is starting to lose it and is not guaranteed a starting position. He's a good option to have on the bench, but if we managed to get a left back in the summer, I would prefer a partnership of Samba and Givet in the centre of our defence.

Oh a personal attack. Nice. Yes i am very thick! I am stating that if we dont change our style then Kalanic is wasted. He cannot handle our formation.

I bought a car last year, i didnt like it, so i took a little loss on it and ended up with a much better alternative.

I really don’t know how anyone can argue with that to be honest…

Nicko hasn’t the attributes to score goals in this formation, it will never ever work for him. IF someone came in with 4 million id snap their hands off and bring in someone who don’t have to change their style to suit our formation.
