...................... Hart

Johnson .. Terry .. Jagielka .. A. Cole

........... Lampard .... Barry

.. Walcott .... Gerrard .. A. Johnson

.................... Rooney

So Capello gets it right, eventually!

That's a better team than anything we put out in the World Cup.

Still the same flops that have been there for years though...

Lampard and Barry especially shouldnt be in, id say there finished for England

Who would you pick instead of Barry and Lampard though? Ideally we'd be able to play someone else, but I can't think of anyone. Jack Rodwell is nearly there, but not quite.

No wonder people prefer club to country these days.

To be honest, i'm club before country no matter what... there's no comparison for me. The fact they are 'southern orientated' makes it worse.

The only reason i'm remotely interested in the game tonight is because Frank Fielding has been called up (since when has he been called Frankie though?! ) Doubt he'll get on but the experience will do him good anyway.

I don't care what others say I think its a disgrace that Rooney, Gerrard and Lampard are in the squad and team after showing no passion at all in South Africa.

Rooney is a disgrace in particular not even singing the national anthem.

I personally rate Tom Huddlestone, people criticize his fitness levels but his range of passing is top-drawer, and we all know you need to retain the ball at international level. He is a much better option than the over-rated Barry, hes not brilliant on the ball and his fitness was shown when Germany kept over-running him in midfield. As Gerrard gets slightly older maybe we could experiment with him alongside Huddlestone?

Wilshire deserves a shot in the role just behind Rooney(assuming we play the 4-2-3-1 formation which i think we should) as he seems one of our only players with natural flair and despite his age he can make something happen from nothing. Id then play two attacking quick wingers in Adam Johnson and Ashley Young, both are quick and tricky yet their final ball is much better than that of our remaining options.

TCO i agree with you on Rooney, i doubt he even knows it.

Never going to be dropped when the FA are desperate for sponsorship and ticket sales.

For me there is a real lack of desire to play for the English national team. It has been apparent for a number of years agmonst the likes of Lampard however it also seems to be rubbing off on the younger members of the squad such as G. Johnson.

That, for me is not acceptable. Without the hunger and desire to go out and play for the TEAM and not the individual we will never acomplish anything.

"No passion at all" - sorry but that's white van man nonsense.

As are all the previous posts about "hunger" and "desire".

The problems are a lot more complex than that.

Agreed, we all know the likes of Jai Tee are tosspots, but our troubles are because we ain't bloody good enough! We can't keep the ball, because the players are vastly overrated, because we have a press that goes from extreme to extreme etc etc etc

Maybe the problems are more complex but for me a lack of passion was evident, Rooney often jogged around looking uninterested.

The most animated he was in the tournament was when he was slagging off the fans.

Seriously? You can accuse Rooney of many things, but not caring isn't one of them. He usually charges round like a lunatic in friendly games. He blatantly wasn't 100% fit, he didn't have any speed whatsoever.

Edit: By the way, isn't it nice to see some fluidity in the team? 4-2-3-1 definitely suits this team far better, we can attack with more bodies and better balance.

Yes but getting behind the national anthem would be a start wouldn't it ? Showing solidarity with the fans who are belting it out (and have shelled out again tonight to attend)

He probably forgot to write the words on the back of his hand, granny shagging chavvy c**t
