ada2020 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I'm not saying that. But until the 'bid' is at the right figure then they won't get anywhere. But I don't think they would be doing what they have been doing unless they thought [a] they could fund the deal and it was part of a long-term plan that made sense. Some buyers of Premier League clubs recently have done it for strange reasons, dodging a bullet, staying out of jail, hiding money. To be fair, I don't think that is the case with the Indians. Nicko, you really wont endear yourself to the scare mongerers on here with talk like that

67splitscreen Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Just tracking back to when the take over news broke, at the same time the story about Dempo SC having some kind of link to a EPL club broke, coincidence, maybe but as yet nothing further has been heard. Questions over who Shah is Etc. some link him to the shipping industry, Dempo's owners, or group, The house of Dempo have quite a diverse portfolio of businesses one being shipbuilding. Dempo's named owner, Shrinivas Dempo was interviewed here "Q: So you are looking at corporatising the sport? Dempo: Absolutely, I think there is enough tremendous potential in that and that's why we are investing fair amount of money now because earlier, that was not the case. I wonder if he/group is one of the consortium." Dempo group He has the links/interest to football, Shah may have the media links. All a bit scrambled, I know, I just have a feeling there are a few to many coincidences. At least it's something else to speculate about. Nicko, other than Shah, do you no names of any other members of the consortium?, Yes or No will do.

TimmyJimmy Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 The movers and shakers in the business world talk in terms of 'Vision' i.e. the 30,000 foot view, they don't kick around the micro details of a deal. For example Philip Green (Sir) insists on everything fitting onto one page of A4 or else he won't look at it. Rothschild's will have examined the business plan of the buyers and will have understood what they want to do with the firm. Only once they have understood that and believe that it has consonance with the desires of the sellers will they turn to look at the detail of the funding, reputation etc., etc.. In other words the interested bidders wouldn't have got anywhere near the current stage without having a good long term vision for the club. A purchasing motivation of asset stripping, selling players to fund cash withdrawals and the rest is just plain nonsense. Their 'Vision' is what they believe success will look like in five years and beyond. If they cannot articulate what success looks like then they will not know when they get there (or don't), so a clear aticulation of their vision is absolutely paramount to ventures like this. They clearly have long term plans that Rothschild's and the Walkers like the sound of or else we wouldn't be sitting here discussing this proposed take-over. As Nicko said, there could be sub agendas going on like the Indian World Cup bid and the spin off cash that it may generate but none of that will happen unless they turn us and themselves into footballing successes. I like that motivation. They will have discussed with Rothschild's the proposed new look balance sheet and that in itself will tell a story as to what their long term intent is. Bottom line - if we are sold then we will end up in good hands because the buyer will have had to pass all the tests. Sure sh!t happens in life and the best laid plans go adrift once in while but the best we can go by today, without the benefits of hindsight, is the 'intent' of the buyers as they present it. The last test before pen is put to paper is that all parties will look each other in the eyes and make a final final judgment. That's as good as we can do. So, trust the process, trust the professionals and trust the integrity of JW. Being familiar with the process of due diligence I'd be stunned if the club was not anticipating the upcoming information requests and preparing all the disclosure information right now. Bar the odd wrinkle the process should not take that long. It's not like they will want to start drilling test pits in the pitch to test for land contamination is it . It will in the main concern player contracts and pipeline debts and as I say that will be being polished up right now in anticipation. My advice is to chill and just let it happen.

ewoodpo Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I have a feeling that it's got to the stage of show us your money.
bubblerrovers Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I'm all for sitting back and letting it all play out, My concern is if this isn't sorted before the end of the transfer window and we're left with what we have I think we will seriously struggle. Surely the interested parties know enough about football to see this is the case ( I would hope anyway).
CrazyIvan Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Hmm, I think sitting back and letting this all play out is about all any of us can actually do. None of us (as far as I know) can possibly have any impact or decision making power over anything that is happening at the moment. Since JW and the board have only got the best interest of Rovers at heart, maybe we should trust them to know what they are doing...

Nicko, other than Shah, do you no names of any other members of the consortium?, Yes or No will do. There are a few more additions as I mentioned previously.. Chris Nathaniel was originally approached by the Indians in regards to setting up a football version of the IPL in India, there have been a few timely links as well in regards to Dempo (e.g. Dempos announcement came at the same time as Nathaniel twitters and other accidental disclosures from the Shah bunch) so IMO way too many coincidences. Feb - Nathaniel approach to help consult on setup of IPL version of football in India April/May - Blackburn approached (source Nicko comments) Early June - Faxed bid for Rovers (Hughsey and a few others confirmed) June 11th - Original announcement by Saurin Shahs Uncle (various sources) confirming investment, IPL link etc... June 24th - Nathaniel posts on twitter on EPL team takeover and indian consortium (NVA twitter) June 28th - Dempo announcement July - Silence falls and transfers frozen.... Its also my understanding Qubic sports and entertainment where originally setup on the back of the IPL, although there are no online sources supporting this that I can find.
Billy Castell Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I wonder if all these links will mean Rovers will be used to promote the sport in India, and we'll end up being the 'face of football' there, for want of a better phrase. There are so many intruiging angles about the bid, and those who are involved in the bid.
Doaksie Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I wonder if all these links will mean Rovers will be used to promote the sport in India, and we'll end up being the 'face of football' there. This may well be one of the main advantages of any potential take-over with the Indians. Conversly, the Shahs will hope to become the 'face of IPL cricket' in England, and promote their other product.
thenodrog Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 So, trust the process, trust the professionals and trust the integrity of JW. How much of a role do you think John Williams will have in any decisions TJ?

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. Or at least one of their subsidiaries Zee sports have a ten year deal with the AIFF, our equivalent to Sky, I guess, Zee sports is owned by some English guy called Lovejoy, maybe something there if someone wants to dig further.
ABBEY Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 [ owned by some English guy called Lovejoy[/font], maybe something there if someone wants to dig further. there ya go lovejoy born in blackburn!!!
67splitscreen Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 there ya go lovejoy born in blackburn!!! Well that worked well, I doubt it's the one you are referring to in any case, no doubt you were seeking some laughs. In anticipation of your edit.

Pie eater Benni & 1 goal Di Santo! Hardly big misses their.....with our current squad id expect no lower than 12th. And im sure we will eventually sign players, whether it be now or in January....Just relax and let things happen.

The EPL is shown on the star and espn networks not zee sports, but the Indian league is (which I dont think anyone watches) I went for a game in Mumbai it was the top team against a team who usually comes third. There were 500 - 800 people in the ground watching it, so if they are to promote themselves it must be through star and espn.

The idea I think is to improve the Indian game which means raising the profile and then launching it in a similar way to our own Premier league via Sky. They (Zee) would want the media rights if that was to happen. Granted that is a long way off, and may never take off. That's down to the money men to develop the product. Do Denpo not have the Brazilian Beto (Roberto Mendes da Silva) playing for them?.It's a start.
Doaksie Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Think I may have stumbled across a little more information for us all to mull over re: the Indian consortium. I think another name of a member in the consortium with Saurin Shah is Luis Bernat. This is a Spanish gentleman who is the owner at HOLGER KRISTIANSEN, which is a Danish shipping company. I put his name into Google and he is actually listed as a friend of one Saurin Shah (not the same picture of the one that's been doing the rounds on the board incidentally). Maybe someone would like to send him a message, see if he gives any info back?? So, some interesting websites which may be of interest: The 'actual' Saurin Shah's Facebook site The Contact page from Holger Kristiansen, listing Luis Bernat as the President and giving his mobile number!! Luis Bernat's LINKED IN website. If nothing else, something else for us all to discuss!
Craigman Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Someone on the Lancashire Telegraph website has already mentioned Luis Bernat Apparently there were Spanish people involved in consortium, according to the person on this site.

I hope they're not too disappointed when they find out Blackburn is nowhere near the sea. Or a mine. And I hope the Spaniards are not too involved in their country, seeing as is trying not to follow Greece down the toilet.
