[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

I'm not patient either. I'm getting fed up with no Rovers news. I know we have to be careful because we don't want to do a Portsmouth and crash and burn and I do really understand that these things take time but it doesn't stop me wishing they didn't and instead of these pages of speculation we could just have a signing or two, even if we don't spend much, just to give us something different to talk about. I know it's not going to happen, but don't you all just wish?

I feel the same. Absolutely fed up. It's as if the fans don't count at all, just take their ticket money and they don't matter. Time is going by, silence is deafening (definitely not golden). Still, at least we know that out at Brockhall is Zurab, like us, forgotten and unwanted :'( Boooooo. Upset about no home match before the season starts, too. I know it's never well attended and all that, but still ...

I think the takeover will be competed by the end of July. Then it will allow Big Sam a month to spend any extra money he may get. Also hope if Mr Shah group does takeover then i hope he does a interview with this site and Lancashire evening telegraph to explain his plans for the club. I am in favour of the takeover if he is buying the club for the right reasons and is not getting the club into any more debt like Man Utd, Liverpool and Pompey!!!

Hopefully so, chaddy. That wouldn't be too bad. It's the not knowing that is difficult, and also the knowledgefeeling that certain folks at Rovers are in the comfort zone and don't want to rock the boat.

There will be at least one frustrated Liverpool suitor who really needs a top half Premiership club, I am pretty certain of that.

Pray, tell us more.

I have been able to know verify that the person I talked to at the end of last week was Saurin Shah. I have not talked to him again, but one of his advisers based here in the UK did call me back yesterday. They are interested in doing the interview but if it did happen they would not be able to talk about anything to do with Rovers because of a NDA.

Therefore I am hoping to do a podcast style interview with Mr Shah, this way it protects him as there is no chance that he can be misquoted. The line angle of the interview should it happen would be to get to know Saurin Shah the man. His background, his business interest, his interest/knowledge of football and hopefully finish the podcast by putting him the position of being the owner of a fictional football club and find out what his first five priorities would be. I am hoping to hear back from either Mr Shah or from his advisers' within the next couple of days.

The reason for doing this is to try and get some more information on Mr Shah because to be honest at the moment virtually nothing is known about him, which is very weird for someone who is allegedly a big businessman in Mumbai. I have asked many of my friends in Blackburn who have contacts in Mumbai to try and get some information on him and everyone has got back to me saying that no one they know in Mumbai has ever heard of him. Hopefully he agrees to the interview and we can all get a insight into his business backgrounds and motivations for purchasing a football club.

Yup that is what worried me, hence this effort to get an interview with him. A couple of my friends know some influential people in Mumbai who had never heard of him. Of course Mr Shah could just be the front man for a consortium, possibly involving his uncle who is very well known and respected.

Yes, maybe he is the front man. Let´s hope there is real money men behind him. Portsmouth is an example what happends when things goes wrong. It´s a good thing to be careful but there´s a transfer window too. Takeover or not but all this has effected to Rovers already.

Kamy, thanks for the up-date.

Can I suggest that this fictitious club be a small town club with little financial resources or perceived scope to improve them, with a very high current wage budget. A strong loyal fan core within an area that has strong opposition at a similar level. Also one that needs a few new players after a strong season end last year that had them sneak into the top ten.

Is he willing to disclose the other members of his consortium?

I will ask but seen as they have been so secretive this far I doubt that he will.

I would assume the same, but if you don't ask? It would be good to find out who is the power behind the throne in their group. Should he decline can you ask off the record, I'm sure you can do some digging from there. Names don't have to be published but just knowing there is a recognised financial backer would be reassuring.

I'm so apprehensive about this whole thing and a lot of it is down to the fact no-one has heard of him. The last club that went down this road is a crippled wreak now. Obviously it doesn't mean it will happen with them but its very natural to dwell on these things when no information is forthcoming.

Ask about the link to that fella who was mentioned on here (one of his friends on facebook i think) and see if he is looking to do business with him too.

Perhaps also try and get abit more background on his family and how much 'they' are worth.

Can we have some details about exactly how much you and your family are worth Hughesy? You can start by telling us all what your current salary is and how much is in your last bank statement.

This could all end in disappointment

You can only be disappointed if you expect a lot in the first place. I'm not expected much in terms of immediate funding for new players or anything like that. I'd like a set of owners who want to own us rather than a set who want to sell us, though not at any cost. I'd like some plans for financial stability in a football world where even successful clubs have financial problems like not being able to pay their players. I'd like some commitment to developing our own young players to carry on with the work that seems finally to be turning out a couple who might just make it. I'd like enough spare cash to pay for a decent striker. And beyond that - well, obviously you'd like to see ongoing development but perhaps that's not possible. And if we don't get taken over I'd like to know in time for our manager to spend the meagre funding he does have and not miss out on a player who could make a significant difference next season because the takeover talks have dragged on too long.

Can't remember TBH, however Dan Williams interest in buying the club lingered for a while. Could this not be the case again for Shah, obviously would like to purchase the club however did not have the necessary finance to do so - Williams was part of a consortium too.

Guess it all comes down to how much money Shah et al have.....
