BPF Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I can't help but make this comparison: Ward + Blake = Kalinic + Roberts. Scary times.

BPF Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Kalinic is so much better than Ward and Blake Granted. But if we don't see an improvement on his goal tally...we could be in trouble. Even Ward and Blake got 26 between them in two seasons.
tony gale's mic Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Granted. But if we don't see an improvement on his goal tally...we could be in trouble. Even Ward and Blake got 26 between them in two seasons. That's a very unfair comparison. Ward was established and well adjusted to the playing style in this country. Kalinic is still young, yet to hit his peak and was still adapting to the style of football here for a lot of last season. Also I very much doubt whether any player in the League hit the woodwork as many times as Niko did last season, which is just pure bad luck no matter which way you look at it.

Or could it actually be that he is using the post as an aiming point to give the keeper little chance of saving, and he is just too accurate for his own (and Rovers) good?

There's me thinking, goal scorers know where the goals are without looking. That's Roberts problem he looks and tries to pick a spot, problem is he forgets there's a keeper between A & B.

Granted that was far too over generalised. Problem with football though, it's all about feet and inches. Luck or not, missed chances are missed chances.
RevidgeBlue Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Back on topic, I think it was thenodrog who opined a few weeks ago that the only way for an owner to make money out of football was to deliberately run a Premiership club into the ground and trouser the parachute payments and proceeds of a firesale following relegation. One could be easily forgiven for thinking that that has been the Trustees strategy for the last several years.
chaddyrovers Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Nicko, are they more than 1 group interest in buying the club? if so, do you know who they are?

I'm sure your last sentence is tongue in cheek but the Trust imo is playing a very dangerous game. 45M for the club may not seem much compared to other clubs but if we are forced to make do with an inadequate strike force and no decent attacking mid-fielder they won't shift the club even at that price because we will be heading to the Championship.
John Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Out with the some of the lawwyers involved, we are very close to be taken over .Not getting told anything else
chaddyrovers Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Out with the some of the lawwyers involved, we are very close to be taken over .Not getting told anything else Is this involved the shah group or a another group?
broadsword Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Brfcrule. The reason that people have responded to you like this, is that it is really obvious that Saurin Shah is posting here... Surely you didn't need to ask when it was as clear as day it's him... Could be Stevie Shah? Wouldn't like to say though, as I'm not shah.
John Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Guy I am with says they got sold the job and am aware of it. Asked for more info says he cant give it
Sandiway Blue Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Guy I am with says they got sold the job and am aware of it. Asked for more info says he cant give it Lets hope it gets sorted rapidly, then we can get on with the job of signing a couple of players as this saga is nearing farcical proportions.....
Brfcrule1 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 John of course he can't say any more all negotiations are covered by the NDA so no details will be given out until it is completed. Not having a go John just clarifying things. I agree with the last poster it has got to farcical proportions obviously there is some way to go with the due dilligence not yet started.
Stuart Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Guy I am with says they got sold the job and am aware of it. Asked for more info says he cant give it John, when you've sobered up can you explain this first sentence?
John Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Will do later, on the mobile still...just relaying what was said to me.

How can you say that with a straight face after asking every day if Nicko has anymore information on the takeover? How do you know due dilligence hasn't started? There is an NDA in place as you said. Cheers for the information John, hopefully be down for a london game or 2 this season.
Stuart Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Will do later, on the mobile still...just relaying what was said to me. Cheers fella, just not exactly sure what you/he meant.
Brfcrule1 Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Fair point Modes I know I was asking Nicko for any new updates but now I have realised that anything discussed now after the NDA was signed nothing will come out hopefully this will be resolved soon.

There are so many issues to be settled right now that it is hard to keep up. I hear this 'second bidder' that is being talked about and leaked may have been on the scene for about six months. No idea when the Indians will ever come up with an offer or a request for due diligence. And the manager's outbursts have got people running around looking for players within the budget in a very difficult market. Stormy.

One has to ask why they hadn't been running round looking for players within budget beforehand.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 What are the Indian's actually doing at the moment? I'm no expert on takeovers but surely they need to be doing something to takeover the club. So far it looks like they've said their interested and then decided to go in a coma for a month or so. Obviously people will know more about this than me but shouldn't they have made an offer by now or at least looked through the accounts and have worked out whether they can or can't afford to buy the club? Are they possibly in a 'haggling' stage with the Trust or have they just gone home.
