Hughesy Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 haven't yet reached the stage where they've been allowed to inspect the books. Not what Sky quoted Sam as saying.... "It will be very close to a decision one way or another. They've had all the information and all the due diligence done that they need to do. "That consortium probably needs to make a decision one way or the other whether it is the right thing for them or not."

RevidgeBlue Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I'm not sure what Sam was on about but I'm quite sure no party has ever reached the stage of arrying out due dilligence.
ada2020 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Yeah how weird that the manager may know something like that......... I'll keep faith in what I think I know........
nicko Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I'm not sure what Sam was on about but I'm quite sure no party has ever reached the stage of arrying out due dilligence. It was a slip of the tongue...about two weeks ago...possibly born from frustration...no wonder.
broadsword Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I can't remember a time where we've got to the stage of the season being a few weeks away and not a single signing has been made. I wonder how season ticket sales are doing.
ada2020 Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Poor I would have thought Bryan, the board pushing the boat out for Guti or Raul may have improved them by some distance.
BuckyRover Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 If we had signed Guti on 60k p/w, we would have had to get over 10,000 extra season ticket holders (paying full price), to break even. As a Premiership football team, we don't really add up.

As a Premiership football team, we don't really add up. Going on from this point, I have to say that although our current season ticket pricing is admirable and a really good move by the club in general, it's done so with the assumption that we stay in the Premier League and so TV money dwarfs gate receipts. I worry greatly what will happen if we go down into the Championship, the parachute payments start drying up and so gate receipts become our main source of income. Considering our crowds will probably be around the 15,000 mark and they'll be paying the lowest prices in the league, it could work out disastrously.

Quite correct - if we were to go down, season ticket prices would have to increase considerably. A ticket for the Bburn End could go as high as say £300/350. We know what Rovers' spoon fed supporters would do in that scenario, don't we?
USRoverME Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The other option is that wages would go down dramatically, meaning massive overhaul of the squad to bring in more wage-efficient (ie championship caliber) talent. still not rosy.
47er Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Well if we don't sign 2 or 3 players of decent quality before this transfer window ends we'll all find out!

Craigman Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 New Premier League Rules for Ownership Very much doubt we are close to a takeover, although we do need one in my opinion to push on to the next level.
salothsar Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Certainly sounds more promising. Completely out of the blue?
braddock Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Certainly sounds more promising. Completely out of the blue? from one spurious newspaper report you deduce that it is promising? fantastic cancel all business saviour has arrived!
Bobby G Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Could make sense with the rumor that a second party that emerged!
Florida Rover Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I wonder if Kamy will have heard of this fellow?300 m is unfathomable what the possibilities would be.If he is legit he will not like having been brought into the open like this unless it is another case like Shah of wanting some easy publicity by being mentioned in the newspapers. The plot thickens...
DannyKeg Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 If he's from India isn't it more likely to be a Hindu plot ?
salothsar Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Braddock - would you say you are a glass half full, or glass half empty kind of person ?
Iceman Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Again they use, potential for growth. Results could be improved on, stadium and other facilities yes, better players yes, profit? Im not sure of. 300mill? That seems an odd figure, as the debt and value of the club is nowhere near that. 100mill for debt and the club, 200mill for new players. This sounds even more scarier than Shah and Co.
Guest Kamy100 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Not heard of this new guy, will try and check him out with some people in India. Rovers are still talking to Saurin Shah group.
Iceman Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Surely there must be something about Shah and his group, for the club to still be talking to them. If this Syed guy is serious, then the club would be mad to not listen to his plans. I said yesterday, that perhaps the club has moved on from Shah. Thats obviously not the case as Kamy pointed out.
chaddyrovers Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 WOW!!! Let's hope so and its happens quickly
philipl Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 People are so black and white on here, it is ridiculous. You keep your options open until the ink goes onto the paper in anything like this. The Guardian article has to be suspect- they spelt the guy's name incorrectly. The timing of it is either awful (completely screwing up this transfer window), or a calculated risk on someone's part.
