[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

This sounds a bit more promising, than the shah bid. Also, there is more about Syed and his company than that of Shah. Syed seems to be well known, and he seems like a smart guy. Here's hoping it happens. :brfcsmilie::rover:

Its true, Kamy has confirmed that they are interested :tu:

The bad thing about this is, we still dont know anything about Saurin Shah. :P

I'm fearful about the feeling of excitement i'm getting...

I'm really hope this means long term support for the club. What we don't want is somebody coming in and over spending and adding debt to the club. We don't want a portsmoth, hull, Leeds the list can go on. We have sustained things well for so many years.

It's exciting news and I'm really happy just hope that John Williams can steer the boat and keep our ambitions in check.

Very encouraging news, it does come into the "sounds too good to be true" category. On the law of averages we were bound to run into a serious player sooner or later instead of tyrekickers like the Shah group and Dan Williams weren't we?

Let's hope it's even half as good as it sounds and comes to fruition.

If it is not possible to effect a takeover before the transfer deadline, let's hope any prospective new purchasers still have a Premiership Club to develop after this season despite the years of neglect from the Trustees.

Even if it is 20% as good as it sounds, that'll be sixty million pounds more than we'll see from the Trustees. :)

This is serious; the first one probably.

Hearing you say that, adds to my feeling of excitement.

If it happens it happens, if it doesn't then we move on HOWEVER, whichever way it turns out note the common thread through all the bid activity so far and that is :

"potential for growth"

"a close fit with an investment model"

"a well run business"

"an investment partner"

As I've been banging on about for ages now, the world has changed and supporters are no longer exclusively local. TV has changed the game.

A Branding model is the key, backed by planned investment. Start with a well run business who has that precious and rare commodity of a placing in the most popular league in the world and then expand globally. Why would anyone in China or India care two hoots about the population size of Blackburn when cheering on their adopted team in the bars or placing their bets online? The big-club small-club thing is a thing of the past, we are in a world of big-brand no-brand.

We are an attractive proposition, we have a lot to be proud of so we should hold our heads up high and lose all that we're not worthy sh!tty attitude.

On a side note, it has been unfortunate that the Trustees could not see what others have. Then again they are lawyers and accountants not business men like Jack. Onwards and upwards. :rover:

Oh yes baby....And...Here we go...

Very quick response from their PR Team.

If its a "bid" not just interest, does that mean that due diligence has occurred, or not? I was under the impression that you submit a bid after you complete your research?

Good points timmyjimmy but remember it is a TRUST and as such probably has rules about speculative trading and investment.

No you can submit a bid subject to or even make an indcative bid.

All very encouraging. In my conversation with Ms Theim she came across as very professional, she has agreed to keep me updated on the progress of the bid as long as I don't break any confidences, she was happy for me to quote her on the comments on the front page but other stuff she said was off the record. All I will say is that it was extremely positive.

Don't know much about Mr Ali, on the face of it he does seem to have the right credentials, hopefully Philip or someone can get some background information on his financial history.

I'm guessing but I would have thought any interested party would have to lodge an acceptable bid and that the Trustees would have to be satisfied they were good for the money before access to the books was granted.

Thereafter I seem to recall John Williams telling the Fans Forum in the past that if any party ever reached the due dilligence stage you would normally expect it to take four weeks or so.

Come on Rovers, get it done and give BS the backing he needs.

That's the bit I'm unsure about about - Big Sam + Big Money doesn't end well if Newcastle's anything to go by.

He's a decent enough manager on a budget but I shudder think what we might end up with. I bet Cacapa's and Alan Smith's agents are reading that and thinking, 'ker-ching' .... ;)

Just hope we see the money at get chance to find out at this point though ....

Not sure how these things work, but is it possible we have kept up with the pretence of Shah despite him/the group seemingly not having the right credentials in order to distract from negotiations with these new guys? I know we've openly said we've been talking to more than one group but is it possible that while we've been chasing a red herring this one has had chance to get quite far down the line?

Trojan horse? Or Stalking horse Dave?

Perhaps someone to deflect the true interest.

The funds under management is not his own net worth (sadly) as it's managed on behalf of investors (including himself no doubt) for which the manager receives a fee (normally 1.5% of total funds managed each year).

Balwer, check out the link that states his group want to buy Cubbie Station in QLD. If he can bid for that (and others) he's got serious $$$$
