nice article...

Got to be on the cynical side with Jal....It can't happen and if it does we'll be down and out within 3years...what happens when he's had enough and Leavers haven't had their bill settled for't pasties... :angry2:

I love people like you.

"I wouldn't want to win the lottery because I bet it would ruin my life."

You have no basis for your comments at all, other than total and complete ignorance. There is nothing wrong with being cynical, it's important that things are properly investigated, but leave that to the club. Your comments are not cynical, they are direct statements with no basis in fact or reality!

What do you expect Blackburn Rovers to be like in three years with a £2.5 million yearly transfer budget (If lucky!!!)

yeah, all jack's kids etc...on the real board of directors.....they won't want to part with it I reckon.....they must love all the glamour and prestige associated with premier league football and indeed a deep rooted relationship with the rovers through Jack....maybe there is a personal element...or is it just down to the moneymen....I dunno.

They've been DESPERATE to sell it for two years.

Where is the ignore button?

Mohamed Al Fayed certainly wasnt a Fulham fan when he bought them when they were in the lower leagues then got

them all the way to a Europa final!

Some people like challenges....Rovers might not be the "Glamour Club" anymore but they arent in Massive debt

and have an excellent reputation and Facilities! How much did Ashley Buy Newcastle for again?

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

If he was, he has my full apologies.

But amazingly, I don't think he was.

Keep waiting for a geniune fan to buy the club Sparky. When we hit League 2, maybe you'll get your wish.

Dave Whelan at Wigan, Lerner at Villa, Ellis at Sunderland...why are these people spending money on football teams they don't support?

Exactly LeChuck.

Essentially, Sparky is refusing to accept the modern face of football. Which is fair enough, but it's here and just like death, you can ignore it all you want but it will directly affect you.

We're not even a day in to this new rumoured takeover but already we have things we didn't have in the previous bids after weeks on end:

1. We have a person whose achievements and acumen are easily searchable on the internet. In today's day and age, if you can't google someone you have to wonder if they're up to much.

2. We know where the money's coming from. This wasn't too obvious with the other two. However, following rivercider's posts it does appear Dan Williams would have been a good proposition at the time, though eventually we dodged a bullet since he lost so much in the recession apparently.

3. We have a clear plan. Clear all debts and £300 million over a long period, which is a lot for a club like us. Who knows whether this will be fulfilled but it's on the table and been made public which is more than we knew about any of the other bids.

For these reasons I'm optimistic whereas for the other bids I was highly pessimistic. Ultimately we don't know whether his motives are true and we have no way of finding out, however there is precedent in this area for other owners to take over clubs in similar circumstances who've done well.

Additionally, one hopes and assumes it'll be John Williams still at the helm, as opposed to some Peter Storrie type figure, and that should act as a very useful safety valve.

I can't believe the negativity about this throughout this thread, cautious approach yes but so much talk about why, why, why.

Answer me, why the (Please don't use that word again) not?

Coates, Oysten, Kenwright and Pearce are rare exceptions and other then Kenwright are all quite new to the PL with their clubs.

This guy is clear and concise, we can see everything he has done, he has had a bid submitted and is noted throughout a lot of reputable sources.

With everything takeover bid or interest shown I have not seen it taken so seriously previously by the news outlets.

Normally the negativity doesn't worry me because I accept it must be an English Rovers thing but this attitude is saddening if not really freakin' annoying.

i'm not sure this has been discussed, as i haven't read through all the pages here.

If it has been discussed, i apologize. I'm just a little confused about something.

What exactly would the board be getting out of it all?

The first indian interest was going to be a 25million pound bid, right? would that all go to the walkers, cancelling out the 20 million of debt, plus 5 million extra? (also where is the 20 million pounds of debt to?)

The second indian bid sounds like it is a promise of clearing the 20 million of debt (to the walkers?) and then promise of huge investment in the club.

So obviously, the better choice (assuming they are both trustworthy parties) for the club would be the one offering the 300 million of investment.

However, from the Walkers point of view, would they be getting more out of it if they took the 25 million from the first bidder?

Maybe that's what sam has been mad about? he knows the better offer for the club is out there, but is getting frustrated because the walkers are considering the deal that is better for them? Would also make sense why he'd threaten to leave etc. as no bidder would want to buy a club that was in turmoil with manager issues.

Anyway, i'm sure i've just got myself all kinds of confused and got my stories backwards.

Nothing really new in the Lancashire Telegraph. Pretty much confirm what I posted last night, the bid from Mr Ali, they have a quote from Saurin Shah who confirms that he us still talking to the club and that there could be other groups interested (American and one with links to Dubai). Back page interview with Colin Hendry who says that Rovers need investment. Telegraph also have some background on Mr Ali which most of which is already known.

No interview with John Williams, not surprised as he is most likely under NDA.

I had wondered whether the interview with JW today was going to be part of a co-ordinated PR blitz covering events which in effect had already happened.

The LT web site has pulled the piece which was there yesterday afternoon saying the interview with John Williams was going to appear today- to my eyes this means either there is a hiccup in the negotiations with Syed or one of the others who have been interested in Rovers, far from being panicked out of it by yesterday's talk of £300m, has come in with something worth looking at.

Whilst not producing a JW interview is an LT own goal, this summary of the summer thus far is definitely the best I have seen on the subject

Texas Rover, the transfer summary thread pinned at the head of the MB includes key posts from this thread as well.

A bit disappointing that there's nothing new whatsoever in the LT but perhaps understandable due to NDA's.

Reading what's in there confirmed for me my gut reactions, Syed seemingly has the personal family wealth to put 300m into the Club if he wanted, whilst the Shah group don't seem to have the required capital at this stage.

The LT did confirm what I've been saying on here for ages that no-one has reached the due dilligence stage yet, but that if they do Rovers could decide to make it non exclusive.

Go Mr. Syed!

So the LT article picked up on the Aussie Farm & Irish construction firm buy-outs + info from his site. They also went on about the supposed £300m investment - which would be the buyout, the debt + money left over for infrastucture & players.

A few quotes from Shah saying he still wants us, wants to bring back the glory days, and they wont give up.

Apart from that bit about Shah - we learned nothing from the LT.

Oh and a great interview from JW - Where he simply said "Talks on-going & several parties interested"

Agree with that. There's genuine excitement surrounding this one. Here's hoping it comes good!

Agree--can't wait, the sooner the better in my view.Pity it can't be in time for the current transfer window.Still if it goes ahead there should be a few Rovers players performing out of their skulls because they'll have to impress to stay. Are you listening MGP?!!!!!
