It wouldnt surprise me. The top national rate of tax is 25% (or so), the extra 20% (in the Barcelona example) is the provincial tax rate and this rate applies differently in up and down the country.

Maybe they are exempt from provincial taxes for a few years.

I see with this new interested buyer the board has gone into hysteria mode with amounts of money, grandeur, etc. I am next expecting for someone to come out and say once this takeover happens and we get this 300M staggered over the long term to spend on players we should be bidding for Torres. It won't happen anytime soon.

Might I reiterate this takeover could go one of 2 ways:

Now I know I might get rollocked for this but it might be better now if Saurin Shah took us over because he has not blabbed to the press about how much dough he has. Whereas this new guy has said he will spend a staggering amount on players, stadium etc.

The one glaringly obvious question what happens when you spend that much money on players expectations are raised sky high with spending that much amount of money the owners will naturally expect Champs Lge footy which will not come straight away. It will take time, as they say Rome was not built in a day!. If Sam can't deliver that right away we might get the same scenario as Man City with a revolving door for managers. Is that good for the long term stability of the club? No.

Also for people to ask for this to be rushed so we can get money in place right away. One wrong decision could land us deep in trouble and as it's the Trustees club to sell. It would be professional to find out what each of the parties has to offer for the club. With jumping in feet first for the 1st buyer you miss out on what other bidders have to offer & it is not about the short term but the long term future of the club & what is best financially for the club. I would expect the Trustees to find out about the other 2 parties before deciding which one is best for the club & financially will keep the club going in the long term.

Some people might find it odd the new interested party coming forward now but if the trustees are researching every party properly this would have to be done to make sure the right individual acquires the club.

Hope that helps to make it a bit more readable.

I see with this new interested buyer, the board has gone into hysteria mode with published figures in regards to amounts of money, delusions of grandeur and so on. In the not too distant future I'm expecting a board member to come out and say if and when the takeover happens and we recieve a budget of £300m staggered over the long term to spend on players we should be bidding for Torres. I can personally assure you that this will not happen any time soon.

Might I reiterate this takeover could go one of two ways:

1. Now I know I might meet opposition for this opinion, but it might be better if Saurin Shah completed his bid because he has not used a highly paid PR team to release a press release about how much financial backing he has at his disposal. Unlike in the case of our newly revealed bidder, whom has revealed his full intentions.

2. I got bored halfway through but I wanted to continue the trend.

I would settle for a new stand and a midfielder that can pass a ball, no delusions of grandeur here.

I think thats what most of us want. No one is really going crazy and thinking we can get champions league football. Most of us just want a transfer kitty that reflects our league finishes and can keep us competitive in this league.

We have been a very well run club but something needs to change if we our going to move forward.

Fortunately we already have the ideal replacement at the Club imo in Tom Finn so JW leaving/retiring need not be the disaster some are making it out to be. .

Isn't he the one who backed Downes for over 10 years despite not producing a single player???

If JW was to stand down, I would have thought the new owners would want their own man in place.

I am with B_P_Frame on this. The PR work of the new potential buyer has done its job in revealing exactly what people wanted to hear ie that he has the backing of money.

However, what they haven't disclosed are any plans on how they are going to expand the earnings of the club.

On the other hand we have the Shah guys who haven't come out and said who their wealthy backers are but have suggested how they intend to increase the income of the club. They might have better connections on the sub-continent that the new lot, there is the IPL link for one.

Investment won't come for free, so I think rather than just seeing the £300m and saying 'great', we need to be more sceptical about how they are going to get it back and not fall hook line and sinker for their carefully placed PR releases.

Tom Finn has been excellent for Blackburn Rovers. I would hate to see both JW and Tom replaced, particularly by people who know nothing about Blackburn Rovers. I would have thought a sensible buyer would have wanted to keep people like JW and Tom Finn to maintain some form of continuity.

The top rate of tax in Barcelona is 45%

Ours is 50% + NI.

It's going to make quite difference, regardless of any righteous indignation.

15%+ more money and Spanish weather? Their economy will probably implode in a few years and then they will all come crawling back.

Don't quite get this. NI is charged at 11% on the first £44,000 income and 1% thereafter isn't it? Most Carlos Kickaballs' reach the threshold after a week of training!

It's occurred to me also that JW will probably want to retire at some point in the not too distant future, is he 61/62 now?

Fortunately we already have the ideal replacement at the Club imo in Tom Finn so JW leaving/retiring need not be the disaster some are making it out to be. .

I suppose that depends on the age of Tom Finn.

i remember seeing tom fin at a party a few years ago and i asked him whether bellamy was staying and he was squirming around not really answering the question. i didn't like him. had he just said it's not something i'm allowed to talk about it would have been fine, but he was just really slimy and pathetic

Yeah, being a bit funny about sensitive information about your job when asked about it at a party is absolutely pathetic isn't it!

I remember sending him an email around the time that Paul Ince was taking us down, about three weeks before he eventually got sacked. He sent me a fairly lengthy and considered reply back in person the next day.

yeah, it is pathetic. he was boasting about his position to me, so i asked him a question and he just came out with a load of rubbish. like i said had he just said he couldn't say that would have been fine.

If I judged someone based on the amount of rubbish they spouted then I'd be lobbying for you to get an extended jail sentence.

£300m "investment" in Rovers? I cannot see how this makes financial sense in footballing terms which leads me to one conclusion. Syed has noted the profile ownership of a PL club brings and sees this "investment" as the way to raise his own.

For £300m a great deal will be expected, Champions League at least, and if we are honest with ourselves the likelihood of achieving that is slim. I can't see Sam Allardyce lasting long in this potential new world.
