[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

Do you not think that if Rovers is bought by an Indian gentleman that our catchment area would increase due to social stratification? I mean the big towns around us have quite large Indian populations and it is true that Indian culture is built on sticking together. If Rovers get more play in India, and in the movies that they watch here in the UK, then you would imagine that we may get more fans from other areas also. Just a fraction wanting to see what we are about and giving us a shot would be welcome. Just having a more Indian friendly atmosphere would incite more to come to the ground as it is.

I personally welcome the diversification that the new owners could bring – it would be good for the club and could possibly be great for the town of Blackburn on a socialization level.

Surely the majority or the Asian population is of Pakistani origins..they might actually despise an owner from India..the majority religion in India is Hindu wheras the majority religion in Pakistan is Muslim...don't bank on the Muslims in Blackburn to start going to football beacuse of an Asian owner...

Regardless of where they come from I think you would be surprised by the difference that you would see. Culture is a major driving force in choices for people. Of course Ewood will not be packed to the gills with new fans but there would be a decent amount. There would also be an increase in visibility in Indo-Pakistani targeted programming and other media.

I think the mix in Blackburn is in fact about 50/50 between Indians and Pakistanis.

8% of Indian origin and 6% Pakistani (85% white). Of course there are a lot of Muslims in India - 138m and emigrants to Blackburn could come from there rather than the majority Hindu population - I don't know.

At least 25 per cent of Blackburns population is non white.

Those statistics are wrong, however, philip

The white population of Blackburn stood at 77% last September, not 85%.

National Office of Statstics - Blackburn

Indians or those of Indian heritage make up 10% of the population.

That is of the borough, Blackburn itself would be less than 77%.

Almost all those of Indian descent are Muslim, from the Gujarat region I think- correct me if i'm wrong on that.

Thats the sort of crap you have to put up with on these pages unfortunately RP.....................

What sort of crap?

tomphil merely pointed out what anybody who has spent anytime in Blackburn would know to be self-evident. The Indian/Pakistani population or those of Indian/Pakistani descent in the borough of Blackburn was far higher than what was originally stated. In the town of Blackburn it would be higher still.

Nothing racist in any way whatsoever in any of it, simply pointing out the reality.

I've been out of the loop, and I'm too lazy to look at 10 pages as most of it will probably be irrelevant. So is this Indian guy who isn't a Saurin Shah part of this group, or a rival bidder? And has anyone heard who the other bidders are?

Syed is a rival bidder Billy. As far as we know, he has no links to Saurin Shah and his group. There also seems a bit more info on Syed

I didn't see anything offensive in your post. If we can't post what we believe to be a factual statement without fear of agro whats the point of this site? I'd like to know the precise racial mix in Blackburn simply because it puts the Indian bids into clearer context.

You're hardly going to get the precise racial mix from somebody throwing out concocted figures off the top of their head.
