Syed has 4 weeks period of exclusivity.

This means there is a deal in place subject to what is found in the next four weeks.

Very good news that they are keeping the existing management, investing in the academy and bringing the French marketing guy in. This one has got legs and is happening pretty well to the timetable I outlined at the beginning of last week.

So it's quite simple is it Philip? If the money is in place as Syed says, the deals done? This is due diligence is it?

According to the Times this morning Ali Syed has stepped up his efforts to buy Rovers by enlisting the help of Jean-Claude Darmon who is a leading football marketing pioneer.Darmon will advise Syed`s team which hopes to conclude a deal with the Trustees by the end of the month and clear the club`s £20 million debt.

Darmon would then step in and develop the required marketing strategy.Apparently he has done this with 18 0f France`s top clubs.

Syed`s potential investment is the £300m mentioned on here. The negative is that the takeover would not be completed before the end of the transfer window.

Syed`s main interest it is said is in expanding the academy to develop English talent.

He also wants to retain the current management team which may not please some on here!

I know most of this as been mentioned previously but the Frenchman`s name is an interesting development.

Tony's post answers the questions.

Rothschilds and Syed's people will have thrashed out a conditional deal which the Trust will have said is acceptable to them subject to....

On that basis the Trust is sufficiently confident to risk losing other possible bids by giving Syed an exclusive period of four weeks. In that time he will do his due diligence and no doubt the Trust, Rothschilds and Rovers will be very busy assisting in that process, doing their own checks and research (although Syed will have been thoroughly checked out and shown them the moneys already) and getting ready to manage the transition.

If the due diligence throws up some nasties, the deal isn't off but could be re-negotiated but if that happens it raises huge questions about trust and goodwill.

The four week period points to Rothschilds, the Trust and the club being thoroughly prepared as WGA says on their website that their standard due diligence process is between five and six weeks.

I wonder what Saurin Shah and his group are doing??

Kamy, have you any news?

They are now frozen out of it.

They can only hope that something goes wrong with Syed's due diligence which I would put at being a remote possibility.

But to all intents and purposes as of now, they have lost.

What nasties due you think could 'possible' come up. To those of us who do not know, explain due dilegence.

So Syed has shown the money & the Trust have now given him permission to expect the books.

Good to see he is keen to build the academy side of things & enlisting the help of the French fella. Who may also become a link into TV deals. Is there any excellent acadamies in France that churn out talent after talent??

Oooooooh exciting times ahead - much more exciting than the transfer topic.
