pancini Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 How long does the Premier League fit and proper persons test take. Can they only be approached once the deal has all but been done after due dilligence or can they be approached during due dilligence and say this person is looking at taking us over can you start the process
Balwer Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Is it just coincidence that this announcement has fallen at the exact outset of the season? Could the next four weeks of BRFC's revenue be a significant factor and taken into account by the buyers? If so. I hope the gate v Everton tomorrow is big enough to be impressive or small enough to show an opportunity for improvement! These sorts of things will take into account a Last Twelve Months revenue and cashflow, as well as the historical accounts dating back 3 years in detail and headline numbers before that. Although good revenue in the next month wouldn't hurt it likely won't be a factor (unless it varies significantly from budget).
Iceman Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ill ask this question again, but is there a slight chance that should they be close to the end of the due dilligence stage(and they happy with everything), and the window has not shut yet, that they would think of providing financial support for new players?

Don't think anyone on here can answer that Iceman. Well.... maybe Kamy could, but he can't.

Hard to say really. If such a thing were to happen then perhaps the Trust would seek assurances that any money they spent would be added on to the purchase price or something to that effect before the takeover was formally effected.
Clitherover Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Great news. All fingers and toes crossed that there aren't going to be any hiccups. Will be very reassuring to know that i'll (hopefully) get to see at least a few more seasons of Rovers in the Premiership.
LeChuck Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Its just a little shame that the squad cant be strengthened ever so slightly during August. It can if there still some unattached players that are better than what we currently have. I have no idea idea of who is out of contract at the moment though.
Herbie6590 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Using the house buying analogy as earlier in this thread - that would be a bit like the potential buyers of your house agreeing to build & pay for a conservatory before they exchanged contracts - theoretically possible but risky
philipl Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 The new rules are also designed to give clubs stability and protection from what has happened at Pompey, Leeds, West Ham, Liverpool and Man U. and several clubs on the Continent to be fair like 50%+ of La Liga although the Spaniards have a patent on water flowing up hills whilst directed from a high wire. El Tombro- see my answer to the due diligence question posted about an hour ago. My belief is that the standing of buyer, seller and adviser is such, I really do not expect anything to go wrong at this stage. The ten day gap between Syed saying he had bid to this short announcement today is extremely encouraging and that isn't just because I forecast that now is when the announcement would be made! It was the right amount of time needed to do everything that needed to be done without there having been any undue problems. I am sticking to my five week forecast of the time to signing for an unconditional sale although who knows if the hope for the period to be shorter can be fulfilled. One thing I am fairly sure of is that WGA will not cut short their due diligence procedure. This is by far their most high profile acquisition and as they want to attract another $7bn under management you can be darn sure they are not going to get caught out publicly for having cut corners.
Majiball Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Kamy, Thanks for the info, you'll soon have the best rep on here at the rate your going!! Obviously I realise you can't disclose much but when you say about the academy and them wishing to invest in it are we talking significant investment and expansion??? Thanks

Liverpool sent all six of what turned out to be their non-suitors into the PL so I guess Rovers sent both Syed and Shah some time ago.

tony gale's mic Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 The question we need to ask is he may be putting £300 million in, but what does he want out of it? I'm excited just like anyone else but I feel someone needs to play devil's advocate...

CrazyIvan Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Did I read somewhere someone commenting on whether the management of the club would change or not? I think someone said something about it not changing but I can't find it now... Help please?
philipl Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 According to the Times this morning Ali Syed has stepped up his efforts to buy Rovers by enlisting the help of Jean-Claude Darmon who is a leading football marketing pioneer.Darmon will advise Syed`s team which hopes to conclude a deal with the Trustees by the end of the month and clear the club`s £20 million debt. Darmon would then step in and develop the required marketing strategy.Apparently he has done this with 18 0f France`s top clubs. Syed`s potential investment is the £300m mentioned on here. The negative is that the takeover would not be completed before the end of the transfer window. Syed`s main interest it is said is in expanding the academy to develop English talent. He also wants to retain the current management team which may not please some on here! I know most of this as been mentioned previously but the Frenchman`s name is an interesting development. Worth repeatedly reposting this!
