[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

I'd say Sam has earned the chance to prove that he can be trusted to attract the right kind of player. He obviously has no problem in attracting and dealing with world class players in their twilight, and he did very well to bring in Anelka and dealt with him brilliantly. Loyalty is hard to find in football nowadays, but we do owe Sam for all he has done for us. This is his last chance to prove he can be successful with a big budget, and I expect him to take on the task head first, with a determination to prove the doubters wrong.

Now we have seen what some might say is a fantastic recovery and we have a team that the big 4 are frightened to death of (once more), we have a team that the middle of the road clubs envy and we have a team that the ne'er do too wells would love to be like.

On the pitch, Rovers have no need whatsoever to go and buy 3 or 4 players for £20m. That is not required with this current squad. We have a base from which to work from and which doesnt require wholesale changes. Look at how Everton have done over the past 4 years. They have invested, waited, tinkered and now have a quality squad, but take note, our own club, very much run similarly, out witted them and out battled them on Saturday. Top go and suddenly put 4 players into the squad would upset the current balance of the team, it needs to be done slowly but surely.

Once the central midfield slot is sorted, the middle of the park is sorted for now. If we added a NRC or a Sidwell, then how good would that midfield become ? For me that would be a huge improvement and outside of the top 5 its a set up many clubs would want themselves.

So, for me, thats the way forward for Rovers. I would be ecstatic with another top 10 finish and maybe another good cup run this season, I would be over the moon if we could replace brum in the top 10. It then makes it far easier for next season to go that little bit further.

Agree with alot of what you said.....

However a few points -

If we had money then id want our club to look for someone like Ireland....not a cast off from Villa like Reo-choker or Sidwell....why help them by taking their rubbish? Instead take their target.

This season the aim has to be 10th or better again.

As for Everton - they have invested heavily, make no mistake about it.

If Mr. Syed or any of his team are looking at any of this thread they must be viewing a lot of the comments with some bewilderment!

It's almost like people don't want us to be successful and we'd rather wallow in self pity and an inferiority complex!

I have no idea if the takeover will go through, and if it does how much money Mr. Syed intends to invest in the Club.

If it does I would however expect that we'd try to bring in the best possible players available given the budget appertaining at the time.

If the mooted figure of 300m over a period is anywhere near accurate we'd presumably be able to look a lot higher than players in the 4-5m bracket although hopefully we'd still be able to unearth a bargain or two in that bracket as well.

Absolutely Rev. Why go for the untried players such as the polish guy Lewandowski at £6m, when you can go for proven quality?

I think people are trying to say don't overpay as City did for Lescott and Milner, but that isn't what's coming across.

Kamy have you heard from the spokeswoman for the Syed bid yet? I asked before could you try and find out if the Syed bid is sucessful what are their plans for the club?. Do they intend to increase the fanbase,Merchandising in India? Would they be looking to increase merchandising lines in the store?. Will they try to get more Asian people to try and fill Ewood? I know Shah but seeing as though the Syed bid might go through does he share the same ideas?. Do you know was anyone from the prospective owners at yesterday's game? Thanks as ever for your valuable info Kamy.

Not my job to do the sums and scout players, but based on MGP's last 3 seasons it wouldn't have been difficult to find a replacement. I'll start with Joe Ledley - younger, hungrier and probably cost half as much.

Anyway, MGP has been discussed to death - let's leave it that some people rate him and just as many don't.

Maradona - lol. Has he got a point though, in that if we are handed pots of money is Allardyce the man to take us to where we want to be? Can he attract the right standard of player? I'm not advocating him leaving but it's a genuine question ....

So loyalty only cuts one way? We were desperate to get Sam when we were going down, he saved us from relegation, took us to tenth place and now there's a prospect of sudden wealth we should think about ditching him? I'd like my club to behave with more dignity than that.

You can't suggest that and then blame Pedersen for getting the best deal he could.

Another big twist in Blackburn Rovers takeover story. The fight is well on now

"The fight is well on now" - implies competition for the Syed bid. I doubt Shah could have sneaked in before Syed begins his 4 week period of exclusivity tomorrow. As someone else said, the twist is hardly likely to be ground-breaking news with Plunkett's history of hyping up his non-stories.

My guess is they hope to complete the deal quicker than the 4 weeks, i.e. before the close of the window.

This is the Twist....There are reports that the deal could be done in just over a week...The "fight" as he puts it will im guessing, be about getting everything sorted so we can spend in this window!

Could be nothing or could be worrying. It could be that Saurin Shah has cone up with the goods, remember that the exclusivity deal is not signed until tomorrow.

Or if it involves Mr Ali, he looked at Liverpool before going for Rovers, maybe he has used Rovera to get a better deal with Liverpool. I doubt it but you never know.

If Telegraph is not running the story tomorrow morning then will chase it down with Mr Ali's people.
