47er Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Have we been told anything by the one reliable source in all of this - Blackburn Rovers? As far as I can see nothing is coming from the club and i would argue we have therefore been told nothing that can be considered in anyway reliable. This whole story is speculation based on some very small snippets in the media. Clearly a sale is taking place, clearly at least one party is going into Due Diligence. Above and beyond this we know very little. Why am I reminded of this: Money, money, money Must be funny In the rich man's world Money, money, money Always sunny In the rich man's world Aha-ahaa All the things I could do If I had a little money It's a rich man's world It's a rich man's world Your alternative solution is what? Stick with the Trust and die? Well sorry but the Trust doesn't feel that way.

67splitscreen Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I would hope not. But we shall wait and see. Payment of current.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I have contacted Julia Thiem. She has confirmed again that they have exclusivity. Rovers CANNOT sell the club to anyone else in the next four weeks. HOWEVER, the club are allowed to take with other interested parties during this four week period but not enter into due diligence. She is extremely confident that they can conclude this deal. They have sent all of their top people/advisors. Thanks for the update Kamy. Shah's talking rollocks then..
mattyc2422 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Wow, it sounds like it's all happening down at Ewood. Interesting times.
BPF Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Thanks for the update Kamy. Shah's talking rollocks then.. I cannot believe that it was even up for debate! Shah is a huge bull....er Takeover by the end of July anyone?
47er Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I think you are deluded. I hope you are right that there is a fairy godmother but the Trust are by far and away the Rovers' best bet at present. Only 4 days ago Philip, this WAS your view.
Balwer Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 The Shah comments strike me as strange. He's had however much time to get his act together and seemingly made no progress. Now when someone else comes along and gets further down the line he responds by saying he's not out of the race yet. What exactly has he been doing in the 2-3 months since he initially expressed interest?
keyzer80 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Quotes from a Tariq Panja (journalist) on Twitter (pretty much what we already knew though): @SweMeatballs78 indian banking dynasty - he says it goes back eight generations 12 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® in reply to SweMeatballs78 Truckerpaddy @tariqpanja I bet Hicks and Gillet chanced there arm with him as well 37 minutes ago via Echofon in reply to tariqpanja Retweeted by tariqpanja @Cazbah88 on the phone 23 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® in reply to Cazbah88 @SweMeatballs78 build up squad, academy + market the team in Mideast, India and Far East. tony gale's mic Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Syed family worth 8 billion USD, he claims. says #blackburn is a distressed asset he'll turn around. Have to say I don't agree with this. We're actually doing pretty well and need a boost rather than turning around. I just hope he doesn't come into this with the wrong expectations.

Will keep Big Sam and give him 100 mill he says about 1 hour ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® Wow. I mean, if that's true, we're in for quite a ride. If this deal is likely to happen then I don't think we should buy anyone before the window closes, maybe just get some cover on six month deals to take us through to January. A small part of me is gutted this didn't happen when Hughes was here though. Imagine if he had been given £100 million! I have faith in Sam to do a better job than most though. He sets the bar very high when looking at new players (Guiza is a good recent example).

AggyBlue Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Have to say I don't agree with this. We're actually doing pretty well and need a boost rather than turning around. How long have most posters (me included) been saying we need at least half a dozen players
Iceman Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 anybody got pictures of them arriving? what cars were they driving? were they wearing Armani suits, what kind of shoes were they wearing?
tony gale's mic Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 We lost £6.7m I believe last year? Wouldn't say that's exactly doing well. Don't the vast majority of PL clubs make losses? Sports clubs are unique in that you can't just judge financial performance as a level of how well they do. Sony wouldnt be happy if they operated at a big loss but won multiple awards. Football clubs in general would be, as long as the loss wasn't insurmountable.
greggyk Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Arrivals and shots of takeover team coming into SSN...tune in, be on soon!

However your initial response was disputing that Blackburn is a distressed asset. From a financial standpoint it's quite close to qualifying.
tony gale's mic Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 How long have most posters (me included) been saying we need at least half a dozen players We do, but things could be a hell of a lot worse for our club. We could do with getting a few players and going a few places up the league, but that counts as a boost in my book rather than a complete turning round. What I mean is that I hope Syed realises we don't have a right to be at the very top and that we're doing pretty well at the moment. The higher we get, the better, but I don't want his expectations to be too high. I'm very interested to see where the rest of this £200 million is going to be spent though. Surely there's only so much you can spend on marketing and the academy?!

There's very, very few profitable PL sides in this country.
Iceman Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I can well imagine whats going through Sam's mind: we can now afford Guiza?
Balwer Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 True, but making us profitable will be even more difficult than making us a title winning side. There's very, very few profitable PL sides in this country. Again, I agree, however Ali seems to think this is achievable in the long-term and the financial side appears more important than the footballing side in the sense that he appears to be buying a business not a plaything.
