[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

Have we been told anything by the one reliable source in all of this - Blackburn Rovers? As far as I can see nothing is coming from the club and i would argue we have therefore been told nothing that can be considered in anyway reliable. This whole story is speculation based on some very small snippets in the media. Clearly a sale is taking place, clearly at least one party is going into Due Diligence. Above and beyond this we know very little.

Why am I reminded of this:

Money, money, money

Must be funny

In the rich man's world

Money, money, money

Always sunny

In the rich man's world

Aha-ahaa

All the things I could do

If I had a little money

It's a rich man's world

It's a rich man's world

Your alternative solution is what? Stick with the Trust and die? Well sorry but the Trust doesn't feel that way.

I have contacted Julia Thiem.

She has confirmed again that they have exclusivity. Rovers CANNOT sell the club to anyone else in the next four weeks. HOWEVER, the club are allowed to take with other interested parties during this four week period but not enter into due diligence.

She is extremely confident that they can conclude this deal. They have sent all of their top people/advisors.

Thanks for the update Kamy.

Shah's talking rollocks then..

The Shah comments strike me as strange. He's had however much time to get his act together and seemingly made no progress. Now when someone else comes along and gets further down the line he responds by saying he's not out of the race yet. What exactly has he been doing in the 2-3 months since he initially expressed interest?

@SweMeatballs78 build up squad, academy + market the team in Mideast, India and Far East. Not an easy job with #MUFC, #LFC #MCFC, #CFC, etc

@the_bbq_bob actually planning to invest 300 million in total. 100 on team. I can't see how they'll get a return.

Stringing it out so he didn't have to stump up any cash this transfer window

Wow.

I mean, if that's true, we're in for quite a ride. If this deal is likely to happen then I don't think we should buy anyone before the window closes, maybe just get some cover on six month deals to take us through to January.

A small part of me is gutted this didn't happen when Hughes was here though. Imagine if he had been given £100 million!

I have faith in Sam to do a better job than most though. He sets the bar very high when looking at new players (Guiza is a good recent example).

Have to say I don't agree with this. We're actually doing pretty well and need a boost rather than turning around.

I just hope he doesn't come into this with the wrong expectations.

We lost £6.7m I believe last year? Wouldn't say that's exactly doing well.

Don't the vast majority of PL clubs make losses?

Sports clubs are unique in that you can't just judge financial performance as a level of how well they do.

Sony wouldnt be happy if they operated at a big loss but won multiple awards.

Football clubs in general would be, as long as the loss wasn't insurmountable.

I agree, in a footballing sense we are doing well. However your initial response was disputing that Blackburn is a distressed asset. From a financial standpoint it's quite close to qualifying.

How long have most posters (me included) been saying we need at least half a dozen players

We do, but things could be a hell of a lot worse for our club. We could do with getting a few players and going a few places up the league, but that counts as a boost in my book rather than a complete turning round.

What I mean is that I hope Syed realises we don't have a right to be at the very top and that we're doing pretty well at the moment. The higher we get, the better, but I don't want his expectations to be too high.

I'm very interested to see where the rest of this £200 million is going to be spent though. Surely there's only so much you can spend on marketing and the academy?!

True, but making us profitable will be even more difficult than making us a title winning side. There's very, very few profitable PL sides in this country.

Again, I agree, however Ali seems to think this is achievable in the long-term and the financial side appears more important than the footballing side in the sense that he appears to be buying a business not a plaything.
