[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

You have to be in dream world boys & girls......

WGA announced on Friday that it had been granted a four-week period of exclusivity in which to discuss a deal, but Syed, a lawyer who studied at the London School of Economics, insisted he does not expect to make money from Blackburn, instead describing his potential purchase as a "passion".

"I have been presented with a lot of clubs, but Blackburn really came to my attention because it suits my investment philosophy," he added.

"If you have seen my investments in the past they are always good assets who are undervalued and who have huge potential for a turnaround situation. I have been doing this for 14 years now and Blackburn fitted the bill.

"I am very excited, happy, I feel privileged, but I would not like to call myself as the owner of Blackburn, but as a fan of Blackburn, and I would love for all the fans to support me.

"I would ask the fans to please adopt me as a local. I am not here to make money, I have enough investments outside of the sporting entities to make money, I am taking Blackburn as a passion and I would like them to support me in my passion. This is an investment to fuel my passion."

Syed is yet to meet Rovers boss Allardyce, who led the club to an opening day 1-0 win over Everton on Saturday, but admits he is a big fan of the former Bolton and Newcastle manager.

"I have not met Sam Allardyce, but I've read enough about him to really praise him," said Syed. "He's done a fantastic job with limited resources, and I'm sure with my liquidity and support I think he can do wonders.

"I want to move quickly so that we can do well in the transfer window"

I must admit I also felt a stiring in the trouser region when I read that article on the BBC!

If what he said is completely true then I can't wait for him to take over and it's good to hear a prospective owner who is realistic about his aims for the club, I was worried this could all go t*t's up but not any more after reading that!!

Just seen the SSN story for the first time, really annoying.

If he was taking over Liverpool, the whole day would have been dedicated to it. Complete with minute by minute updates.

Tis shocking mate, I'm probably the only Rovers fan at Sky HQ here in West London...certainly the only one at SSN who gives a damn about all this.

I did have a go at news desk for lack of coverage but rather it was played down to be fair, just imagine if it all went tits up.....

The media are not interested in provincial clubs, unless they are like 'plucky' Blackpool and know their place.

If this does come off and cash is splashed, the knives will be out.

I am glad it's flying under the radar, less chance for egg on the face to be honest. This club has always gone about its business outside of the limelight and I think that's something that all the fans feel an affinity with. Syed seems to be making all the right noises so let's just hope it pans out.

Glad that everyone is happy about this deal.

The reason that he has picked us is because we fit his business philosophy, namely taking on well run organisations and providing funds to take them to the next level.

His people are extremely professional and if they say that they want to complete this deal quickly then they will do everything possible to do so.

Just a note of caution we are nor looking at Man City level's of spending, but it will be substancial and give Rovers a real chance at competing.

Keep the faith guys, if this all goes through then exciting times are ahead.

Money doesn't always equate to success, its got to be spent wisely at the same time. Everyone is talking about hundreds of millions being pumped into the club, this might be the case but over a period of time. I would be happy if we could put £15-20 million in the transfer budget each season without having to sell players to fund it.

Mr Syed is certainly making the right comments but I will reserve judgement until/if a takeover goes through. Still plenty of twists and turns possible yet and its not a done deal.

We don't need Manchester City levels, we could take his £100m and convert it to £150m-£200m to reinvest if we spend our money wisely.

We've also got numerous players whose value could rocket if we become successful and who should look much better with quality players around them.

I think if we get a fantastic offer for one of our players we should still consider accepting, hopefully safe in the knowledge that all the money will be available to re invest back in the side.

I'm kind of excited but have a lot more of an anxious feeling about the whole thing and I dony know why.

I think its the too good to be true feeling as others have said.

Fingers crossed though
