Balwer Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I'm kind of excited but have a lot more of an anxious feeling about the whole thing and I dony know why. This is a common symptom when supporting Blackburn Rovers. Rest assured your feelings are entirely normally and indeed felt throughout the wider fan base.

T4E Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Money doesn't always equate to success, its got to be spent wisely at the same time. Everyone is talking about hundreds of millions being pumped into the club, this might be the case but over a period of time. I would be happy if we could put £15-20 million in the transfer budget each season without having to sell players to fund it. Agreed - just having the resources to be able to pick up some of the excellent players that are thoughtlessly cast off by the real big spenders would make us an excellent side. The likes of Joe Cole, Bellamy, Crouch, Darren Bent, Bentley etc etc. A couple of years ago having a few quid could have seen us rescuing the likes of Lennon and Bale from Spurs, and look at them now. Lets make others spend the big money and we'll rejuvenate their most talented cast offs.
koi Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I'd rather we'd just go about our business quietly. However, if this all comes off and we start going places it wont be long before the knives are out and Walker/Syed are simply buying success..... I think many will be like me and think this is too good to be true and we couldn't possibly find another 'Uncle Jack' however the fact is we will be sold and there's not one jot of evidence to suggest that this guy is anything other than true to his word - he's certainly very very rich so that's a good start!
Balwer Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 The problem now of course is that Saurin Shah is going to look like a consolation prize no matter what kind of PR campaign he comes up with.
koi Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Of course, if it does go through we'll be back to the days of clubs adding a zero to the end of any transfer fee!
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Which will still represent good value when you look at some of the fees we've paid in the last few years
bubblerrovers Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 How many phone calls from agents do you think Big Sam is getting now? I bet he'll have to hire an assistant,

RoverRich Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 This is definitely an exciting time for all Rovers fans. I really hope it can all be completed before the window closes. I don't feel that we would need Man City-esque spending and I would be against throwing way too much money at average players. As long as we get a decent sized wad of money to play with we can slowly create a team that pushes for top 4. Man City do not look like a team, they look like 11 individuals at the moment so this is one thing we would have to focus on avoiding. For example, this season, I feel that if given enough money to buy a striker like Guiza and a quality midfielder, it would make a huge difference to our team, our play, our belief and ultimately our league position.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Trying to scupper the deal with Syed? Make out we are untrustworthy? My thoughts exactly! Shah knows he cant compete with Mr Sayed and has stated so...he knows his bid has been beaten.

If you want to market a brand in India and you get Amitabh involved your gonna hit the big time, he is hero worshipped in India.

I totally agree with that. I would perfer the Syed bid to the Shah bid. Looks like Syed means business with buying Rovers. Wonder how long they will take to look at the Accounts. Maybe before the transfer window shuts, hope so then we can sign a player or two.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I am very excited, happy, I feel privileged, but I would not like to call myself as the owner of Blackburn, but as a fan of Blackburn, and I would love for all the fans to support me. "I would ask the fans to please adopt me as a local. I am not here to make money, I have enough investments outside of the sporting entities to make money, I am taking Blackburn as a passion and I would like them to support me in my passion. This is an investment to fuel my passion." You are making the right noises Mr Sayed.....he's also stated he will improve the stadium too. PLEASE MAKE THIS DEAL HAPPEN.
Doaksie Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Just back from work and been reading all the quotes and videos from the day. Now excuse me while I fetch some new pants, I appear to have creamed these ones. I don't think anyone can deny it's an exciting time to be a Rover, which hasn't been the case all summer. Sit back and enjoy the ride folks.....
T4E Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 It's not even the case yet. It would only take one press story stating the whole thing has broken down and we'd be back to square one. Feet on the ground time.
Amo Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 It's not even the case yet. It would only take one press story stating the whole thing has broken down and we'd be back to square one. Feet on the ground time. And everyone here will be grovelling back to Mr. Shah!
sam_rovers Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I cant get excited about this.. both potential bidders are shady characters in my opinion. I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't want another Gaydamak or Shinawatra to take over Rovers.. This talk about being a fan and not in it for the money is total bullshit.. who goes into a business deal if it isn't for the money. Those thinking that this is Jack reincarnated are just fooling themselves. Theres only one Jack Walker.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Show a little more respect with your wild comments, lets see what Mr Sayed has to offer.
broadsword Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Show a little more respect, and lets see what Mt Sayed has to offer. Why do you keep putting an "a" in his name, and why do you think he's a mountain? Or maybe you think he has a mountain of cash?
Mr. E Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 I cant get excited about this.. both potential bidders are shady characters in my opinion. Those thinking that this is Jack reincarnated are just fooling themselves. Theres only one Jack Walker. No one will ever replace Jack Walker. But that doesn't mean it's impossible for another very rich person to be a fan and want to help us out. Currently there is no reason to believe otherwise. Also I'm not precisely sure what his "hidden scheme" would be, even if he had one. Rovers are one of the last Premiership clubs you'd want to buy if your goal was simply to make money off the club.

Those thinking that this is Jack reincarnated are just fooling themselves. Theres only one Jack Walker. The thing is, if we don't get bought out, we are going to come unstuck eventually. We can't keep working miracles every season on shoestring transfer budgets. The way things are at the moment, a bad season and relegation would be be terminal to Rovers. There would be no way back. We've just got to take a risk on this guy being true to his word. We'd all love another Jack, but as you rightly say "There's only one Jack Walker".
Majiball Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 http://www.grapheine.com/bombaytv/bt.swf?code=080e99733c384e796e6080f2fd16e0cb I was loving that vid right up until he said go get Heskey and my heart sank a little. I don't care if it all falls through this has been a very frustrating last few transfer windows and we finally have something to get excited about. I'll even be singing "rich mans world" down the corridors tomorrow. If it all goes tits up well I'll just go get a prescription of the docs and await the ###### taking.
