[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

Am on hols but the way everyone is talking has the sale actually been made then? If not I will reserve judgement until the ink is dry on the contract

In short, no it hasn't.

Syed has been granted 4 weeks of exclusivity, meaning no-one else can bid for the club. His team are now at Ewood going through the rovers books and they hope to conclude the deal before the transfer deadline - which is in only two weeks time, when they would give transfer funds to the club to use this window.

The general feeling is that it appears to be a done deal, assuming nothing untowards turns up in the rovers books. Must add that the club have still said nothing yet.

Lawrence Cotton,Jack Walker....Ahasan Ali Syed?

Lucky old club aren't we ^_^

HOW could you miss out one of our great founders........ JOHN LEWIS... think he achieved more in football than any of the ones above.

Why are you apologising to someone who consistently said for months on end that it would never happen?

I posted that I thought it would never happen.

I am optimistic in the sense that we have a squad already capable of upsetting the established normality of the Premier League. We have a team more than capable of matching any other team in the league. Our problem has always been consistency (arguably the same situation with most other teams).

I truly hope if the takeover takes place and the commercial side of the club sees a huge makeover, that our club doesn't start splashing stupid inflated amounts of monay about. At the very core of our club is a work ethic - it's written on the badge. It is the reason Benni Mac is no longer here, but Pedersen and Andrews are. We must stay true to that ethic.

I would be far happier to see us linked with a player who will put a shift in while also giving us a little more flair, rather than the Man City business model of happy-slapping with a cheque book - it will take a long time to forget thier embarrassing attempts to sign players.

The feeling is good, the sounds are good, we just need time now.

Mr Syed - speak the truth (and I have no reason to doubt you) and you have my support.

Great that Mr Ali has confirmed all of this and it is in the public domain now.

If this happens then it is great for our club and gives people so much hope for the future. However, although I am no financial whizz, we still need to show caution. There are still things that they need to work out, this is not a done deal yet, everything is pointing towards it happen, but issue(s) could still arise. I know it is hard not to get excited but we have to keep our feet on the ground until the deal has been signed.

Frankly, IF this is all for real (and I believe it is), the Cinderella story has nothing on us lucky buggers supporting Blackburn Rovers.

Too right.

There's only one Jack Walker and quite rightly so.

However the odds on landing one Jack Walker in a lifetime must be astronomical. With no disrespect intended to Jack's name, if we land two "Jack Walkers" inside the space of twenty years, - you could hardly make it up.

Our six fingered friends down the M65 must be absolutely devastated. Having to sit there and watch us hit the jackpot twice.

Hopefully. Please God nothing goes wrong.

carry away

To move or excite greatly: was carried away by desire.

Doom Merchant: To supply doom, thinks that everything can and will go wrong, has no hope for future, the glass is a quarter empty. Normally seen with sandwich board, wild hair, and tatty sneakers with “The End Is Nigh” painted on it.

Also the PR comments...

In a previous life I did PR for Jack Daniels and the wife is still involved in major PR that I shouldn't talk about.

Anyway, A PR person can tell their bosses all the right things to say but you NEVER promise to do something that you have no intention to do. That is career suicide and should be reserved for politics.

For that reason I can assure all of you that the talk of money for transfers is not just PR. The good sign that this is the case, is the fact that he quoted an exact figure.

A pure PR statement is Saurin Shah "I'll bring back the glory days with lots of finances."

Kamy / Philip.

What could potentially go wrong at this stage? (Heavens forbid!)

This is going to be a complex deal, buying any football club is. There are a whole host of issues that both parties will have to resolve, the fact that the agreement signed today allows Rovers to continue negotiating with other parties suggests that there are still things that need to be worked out. I don't want to sound negative, but the potential for this to all fall down is still there.

I am sure that thing will work out and the deal will be concluded but we just need to keep feet on the ground until it is.
