Personally I think the biggest thing he said was....

"Not day to day (would Syed be part of) because right now we have very good management and I want to retain that management"

..which I presume refers to John Williams and his team. The fact he is saying "we" instead of "they" also shows in his mind this will happen.

I would describe myself as being absolutely petrified something is going to go wrong until the deal has actually been completed.

If Mr. Syed is all he says he is, and there's absolutely nothing so far to suggest he's not, I don't think people would ever forgive the Trustees if the deal failed because we were being too inflexible about a particular point.

HEAR! HEAR!!.....for the future of this great old club,we simply cannot afford to let this takeover slip through our fingers now at this stage.

Just like Jack, Mr Syed appears to have a massive will to succeed.

Wo Wo Wo....hang on.

"an initial transfer pot of between £80-100million and clear the club's debts of around £20million as part of an overall investment of £300million during the first five-year phase of a 15-year masterplan."

£300 million in the first five year phase?! Hells bells!

He also said WE when he was on about signing players on the bbc article earlier.

Guest roverspogges

I haven't really got anything constructive to say other than how exciting this is. I'm convinced this will go through and will refuse to keep my "feet on the ground". After a summer of frustration and disapointment I just flat out refuse to believe it won't happen.

Listening to the BBC Lancs interview Mr Syed certainly made all the right sounds regarding the spirit of how we would want an overseas owner to approach the club. He has a respect for the club and its fans and he isnt too grand to state that. After one interview he has probably made more fans than those cowboys at ManUtd and Liverpool will ever accomplish!

From a business point of view he obviously will need to prove his intentions are good and only time will tell. However, with a move as massive as this there could so easily be alarm bells ringing even at this early stage and it seems the general concensus on here is more a fear that the bottom will fall out of the deal than worries about Mr Syed.

Very very interesting times for us Rovers fans.. and not a little prophetic that it should happen in the week of the tenth anniversary of Uncle Jack's passing..

I would imagine that this period of due diligence will spark a period of fevered debate. Would it be out of order to ask the doom mongers to keep unsubstatiated rumours to themselves unless, of course, they can provide a link or some evidence of a credible source?

Are you serious DGS ? Its hitting fever pitch all over. In the papers we see the comments from supporters. On other football forums we see disparaging remarks aout hy it is Rovers hitting the jackpot again (Everton and co) and we have ultra excited supporters weeing themselves into a frenzy whilst others are frapping at the thought of money in the club tobe spent on players.

if there was a chance of a whorehouse near to Ewood the business would make thousands such is the excitement brewing about the club

I am optimistic in the sense that we have a squad already capable of upsetting the established normality of the Premier League. We have a team more than capable of matching any other team in the league. Our problem has always been consistency (arguably the same situation with most other teams).

I truly hope if the takeover takes place and the commercial side of the club sees a huge makeover, that our club doesn't start splashing stupid inflated amounts of monay about. At the very core of our club is a work ethic - it's written on the badge. It is the reason Benni Mac is no longer here, but Pedersen and Andrews are. We must stay true to that ethic.

I would be far happier to see us linked with a player who will put a shift in while also giving us a little more flair, rather than the Man City business model of happy-slapping with a cheque book - it will take a long time to forget thier embarrassing attempts to sign players.

The feeling is good, the sounds are good, we just need time now.

Mr Syed - speak the truth (and I have no reason to doubt you) and you have my support.

ARTE ET LABORE

This is what I want to see as well, the club has a history of doing well on limited resources. Imagine what can be achieved if we put the same sensible principles in place with good investment of the money the club may have invested in it. I'd love to see the worlds great players here but if they can't respect the shirt, the club(anyone who read Savages Autobiography will no what Craig Bellemy said about us, that we were lucky to have him not he was lucky to be at our great club) the fans, the manager, the other players and even Mr Syed then they can basicly stick it. I want players who see the vision for the club, respect the club and the people involved in it and if that means not having the players that have gone to City and flopped so be it.

Exciting times though, but I think one thing we need to remember is if the deal doesn't go through we still are a GREAT club with more tradition than most teams in the WORLD and lets never forget that and that is why any deal has to be perfect for our club.

Would like to add I was very impressed with Syed though, he said the right things but actions speak louder than words and I hope he is the real deal.

Given all that has happened in our illustrious history I just know that the day I die and end up in heaven God will be wearing a Rovers shirt.

Excitement I can understand, no probs. It was only last week however, that certain posters were telling us that the takeover WONT happen. No links, no evidence. Very annoying.

This is crazy, it's all happened so fast. For so long we had nothing, followed by a little bit, followed by nothing again...

If things continue at the current tangent then Messi will be lining up against Birmingham on Saturday :D

One can hope my friend

Maybe we can sleep a little easier tonight.

Traffic on this board has reached epic numbers and the suppressed euphoria unbearable.

Wonder what tuesday will bring?

It's past 11 and it's past my bedtime already ... this news is not going to help me sleep easier at all ... F5 F5 F5 :)

Your vision is 1980s mate... This isnt football anymore, too much money involved. Do u really think if we are owned by billionaires any player is coming ti us ti respect our shirt or history?

Wake up mate, bank account is the only thing that wull be getting respected, but you cAnt blame them, its the way football is these days & its here to stay, hence why we need tbis take over now... I cant see this falling through tbh

300 Burning the midnight oil on here! :)

The 15 year plan is music to my ears, controlled investment with a vision of what he wants on all fronts for BRFC.Loving the idea of ground improvements and investment into the Ewood area.

After speaking in person to the local press and already receiving nationwide coverage I would be amazed if he pulled out now.

Exciting times indeed once more.
