[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

Your vision is 1980s mate... This isnt football anymore, too much money involved. Do u really think if we are owned by billionaires any player is coming ti us ti respect our shirt or history?

Wake up mate, bank account is the only thing that wull be getting respected, but you cAnt blame them, its the way football is these days & its here to stay, hence why we need tbis take over now... I cant see this falling through tbh

Its not 80's its realistic, Im not saying don't pay the wages, Im saying make sure the right players come to earn those wages and have respect for what the club is trying to achieve. Look at Robihnio at City (Even with money we will never have that class a player) do you want a player playing for Rovers for £120k week whilst some supporters struggle to buy tickets for games only for him to cry off not perform and go back home because he is loved more there. If all footballers behaved like this there would be nothing to appreciate about the sport, there still are players out there who get paid loads and GIVE EVERYTHING every week is that too much to expect?

I see what you're saying.

We've thrived these last few years on signing players with something to prove. Whether it's a young talent discarded at a big club, a talented player playing way below his station or a big name gone wayward, our successful signings over the last 10 years have almost all fallen into one of those categories.

Although Bellamy won't say as much now since he's passed through Anfield and Middle Eastlands, I'm sure given the state his career was in he felt lucky to be picked up by Rovers when he was and given a chance. And he gave his everything. A lot of these lads at City are already big stars and so naturally some will feel they've already made it.

We should use the original model as the backbone of our transfer policy but instead of spending £3-4m on players, we could spend a bit more and maybe find equivalents to what Sam did with Anelka at Bolton.

I really believe that our strength is identifying players with something to give and willing to work for it, and has been for a while.

There are always some that slip the net, or eventually believe thier own hype, but we generally at least break even on them, or make a decent profit.

If we can (and I can't believe I am going to say this) emulate Arsenal's policy in some way, surely this can only be a good thing?

Better that than Man City's policy.

In any case, Mr Syed's investment should make FM2011 easier..

This is still too good to be true. I'm waiting for the catch. I'm waiting for the "April Fools" from Burnley fans. I'm waiting for the plane to fly over Ewood Park with Syed wearing a Burnley top and talking with a local accent whilst throwing monopoly money down at us.

Am I having the best dream ever? Am I about to get laid by 1....no make that 10 fit birds gagging for it? I do not want to wake up!

Agreed, again I wil mention Ashley Young. Bought for £9m from Watford (something we could never have done) but is now receiving bids of £20m from City and Spurs. Even Messi's a fan of his now!!!

It'll turn out to be the fonejacker guy doing a prank that went too far. "Syed" certainly did sound like the Indian Call Centre Worker from his show :D

Any chance this could also do wonders for racial cohesion in the town?

As has been repeatedly highlighted, much of the Asian population do not follow Rovers. Although one in every three faces around Blackburn is a South Asian one, a much lower proportion around Ewood is. There's numerous reasons for that but if Syed can get more of the local Asian population in then it could give people a common interest. White season ticket holders sitting alongside South Asian season ticket holders.

It's true that there is too much segregation and this is a problem that both sides are to blame for but ultimately it's down to two very, very different cultures. A shared interest and something to talk about and support together could really improve things.

By the way if you disagree with this, please don't start - I'm trying to highlight another potential positive factor and the last thing this thread needs is to be dragged down into the depths of some of the discussions we've had here...!

I think its a market he sees in the town and perhaps why he believes he can increase gates as such. As for increasing cohesion in the town Im not sure theres too many people not willing to accept on all sides which is the towns biggest problem if however at the end of his 15 year plan and the town has moved on and is prosporus and closer and more accepting of each other then this investment will have been better than any Government scheme.

I better not mention Keith Andrews, then

The thing is tony it could do just as much harm than good, Pakistanis hate Indians (generally) so if anything an Indian owner would make people from a Pakistani background less likely to come. I'm not sure what the Indian/Pakistani breakdown in Blackburn is but a point worth noting...

He's an Indian Muslim though; the Pakistani - Indian tension is as much because of Hindu-Muslim tension over Kashmir and related issues as anything else really.

On BBC north west today at lunchtime, it showed Syed's people arriving and it showed them looking at the rovers shirts in the club shop.

Syed spoke to NWT via telephone and said to tell the rovers fans that he wasn't coming here to make money. He said he's making enough money out of his other business affairs. He said he was taking rovers because of a passion. He wanted the rovers fans to support that passion and said he would be here for as long as is reasonably possible.

Does it get any better?!!!!!

Our Uncle, who art in heaven,

Jack be thy name.

Thy legacy come,

Thy will be done,

On Ewood as it is in heaven.

Save us this day from what we dread,

And give us our takeover,

And we'll defeat those who play against us.

And lead us not into relegation,

But deliver us from Saurin.

For thine is the future,

The power and the glory,

We're Rovers for ever.

Syed...........

Everton need a new stadium. So he would spend that £300m running a planning and construction business before having a sporting opportunity.

Also the ownership division at Everton make it a very tricky proposition to buy out without paying a fortune to the existing shareholders.

If I thought the Fairy Godmother might be as good as this, I would have been less Ugly Sisterish with 47er.

I accept your apology and acknowledgement that you got it completely wrong Philip :D !

Seriously no hard feelings. I couldn't be more delighted. What a great time is coming up for us all.

A tiny worry I have is if this goes ahead and somehow went badly wrong I fear what some of our 'fans' would chant after the coyle songs last season.

Out of interest do we know if Mr Syed is coming over himself?
