[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

I'm slightly confused about Syed's plans. Does he plan to spend 100 million in transfer fees over the next five years, with the other 200 million in marketing the club, and developing the grounds and Academy?

No £100m for new players and the rest of the £200m to Keith Andrews for a new 2 year contract.

I could see developing the Ewood area as being a win win for Syed, especially as he just invested E300 million into a construction company. Have the construction company do the work, have your company do the marketing, etc., and he keeps the money flowing through his various businesses and investments.

It must be great to be Syed, pay a construction company to build you a mansion and then instaly claim half the profit back as you own half of them :D

Does anybody know what happens to the trust if the club is sold. Will it just be wound up? Is there any money due to the club if it was. Only definate answers please no guessing as I've been asked this question and I don't know..

Nothing - they will carry on running all the other businesses they look after, e.g. FlyBe.

Any development at Ewood then wont come as a surprise if it is a certain Irish company.

Ali Syed said: “This is not just an investment, it is an emotional decision. I have been following them since they won the Premier League and I would not want to be called the club owner if I acquire the club but a fan of Blackburn Rovers

I take back what i've said in the past about glory hunters being a waste of space and no place for them in football. They're okay in my book now!!

he was just on the phone to sky sports news and said "i intend to make 80-100m available immediately to the manager for transfers, and it shouldnt take long to complete the deal for the club as he is paying in cash

Mr Syed just been on SSN, says hopeful of completing deal before quickly and between £80-£100m immediately??

That's why I was surprised when man on here had interpreted the 100m as transfers over the next five years. To me, it always seemed as though there would be 100m available to Sam now.

Agreed, and based on his time at Newcastle you'd have to say Allardyce is one of those managers (I expect Cacapa's agent is rubbing his hands ;) )

However, given his record at Rovers, he does deserve a chance to see what he can do - and now he's tried and failed on Tyneside hopefully that experience will have taught him to be a bit more careful when splashing the cash.

Our defence is sound, but I'd like to see a proper left back at some stage.

Midfield is the priority, N'Zonzi and Olsson are keepers but I think the rest of the midfield berths can be improved on. A creative player is an absolute must though.

Up front, it would be nice to sign a striker of real quality.

Or get the quality striker we already have at the club some real service.

Agreed, with the lack of service any striker would struggle to get goal at the moment. We've never replaced Bentley.

I'm well up for the takeover and would prefer Mr Syed over Mr Shah. He has been quoted several times regarding funds available for players I do feel that he should have kept that part away from pubilc knowledge .

What it does is that when we go in for players it puts the price up I mean look at the Milner situation is he worth all that money.

Gotta love this board.

In two weeks we have gone from...

Benjani or Beattie?

to...

How big should we make our stadium?

What if Sam wastes £80m?

Should we buy Beckham?

Which continents should the club be most heavily promoted?

Cracks me up. Can't help but be very excited.

doesnt that just mean that he is ready to let sam start spending a chunk of it this season instead of waiting till next season

If the deal is done before the end of the transfer window I expect Sam to get a nice gift to buy a striker with, but the number of 80 - 100 million will certainly not happen straight away.

I suppose I could always hold onto it for Sam till January so it isnt burning a hole in his pocket.

Surely making that amount of money available right now is crazy...there's no way a player genuinely worth above £10m would be interested in joining us at this point in time?

Also whilst I'm very much backing Sam, it's true he's got limited experience with lots of cash and I'd prefer an approach of letting him do what he does best just with a bit more money, then taking things onto another level when appropriate.

Never thought I'd be complaining about our transfer fund being too big...

I believe he will have £100M however this is too last 5 years so up to sam to see how he wants to spend it
