With that kind of money in the budget for a new girlfriend, I believe you can go for the high earners. They are likely to have performance issues, but are very loyal and won't be looking for a move even if you looking at hot prospects and younger models

Maybe we should put a cheeky bid in for Rooney, just to let people know we mean business ;-)

I think attracting players with be a tough one, we don't want the kind of players that are just going to come for the money(though, isn't that most players these days?). We need to sit down with potential players and show them the plans and ideas. Let them know that with a little bit of luck and good management, we'll hopefully be a successful club in the near future.

Another worry with having Sam in charge; will quality players be attracted by our style of football? Rovers and Sam have got a very bad reputation amongst other football fans(though a fair bit is undeserved, we can play nice football at times). I wonder how other players view our club and manager?

I'm not necassarily bothered about attracting "top" players or whatever, because as it stands we're not in a position to do that. However, a bit of extra cash means we could have bought Lewandowski, maybe Dzenko back when he was available, Raul, Guti etc would have been in our grasp. Just having the money there means the targets that are good and could come to us have a realistic chance of being purchased, instead of weeks of speculation, maybe a trial and then nothing because we have no funds.

Our transfer budget is basically zero right now so anything, whether it's 10M or 100M would be fine.

I just shook my head in disbelief at that story, bit like driving around in a 2nd hand Ferrari and saying you think people in flash new sports cars are knobs!

I wonder if Alex would share that belief if the Glazer's had the same finances as Man City?

I love how this guy isn't afraid to talk to anyone regarding the takeover. Listening to him on 5live just now and a massive thing for me is that he has said that he will be buying the club in his own name and not through his business.

Bring it on Syed, you can be Brian Gallaghers "fan" for a tenth of the fee when you have finished. :rover:

I'm loving the BBC trying to run this down, you can tell they're hating the fact that we will/could be a major force again

Never thought I’d ever feel the need to post on here! But here goes……..

Anyone got Mr Syed’s email address??

I want to email him and ask him if he just heard the small piece they did on Talksport about the possible take over! Not sure who they were talking to, some journalist from the Guardian, you could hear Jason “Chelsea” Cundy and Darren “Yorkshireman” Gough audibly smirking and sniggering at the prospect of “little old Blackburn” ever being able to once again bloody the noses of the big city Clubs! Why would you pump that kind of money into a Club who are never going to do anything? Surely traditional Clubs like Blackburn shouldn’t be up for grabs by these bored oligarchs to be used as their playthings??

So it’s already started, deal not even done, and I’m as excited and nervous about the whole thing as anyone, but I really would love for Mr Syed to have heard that! If he is as handy with his wallet as his with his mouth I’m sure he’d be very interested in ramming any future silverware right down certain radio presenters throats!! (If the take over happens of course!) It wont be the last time we hear such ridicule, we should really just forget the whole thing and think ourselves lucky to be fed like dogs off the scraps of the Kings table!

Anyway, rant over, I’ll get back in my box now!

Thanks for listening! :D

Let's be honest, this time two weeks ago we would have completely agreed with him.

And he's right really, but we need this as the playing field has been skewed massively against us.

this is all so very exciting and to all start heating up on the anniversary of the great mans sad passing away the more it means to us fans, I just hope that this guy can try and bring back that jack walker type feeling to club again, I want to try and keep a level head but the more I hear about this takeover the more excited I get, I just dont want another Man City, Portsmouth or West Ham scenario, I want long term plans not short term

We ALL know what to expect from the media if this dream happens. <_<

These disrespectful gobshytes ridiculed Jack Walkers investment into our 'little, small time, flat cap wearing, whippet breeding, cobbled street club'.They should be celebrating the fact that we may give the 'BIG CLUBS' a run for their money once more but we all know it wont happen.

Sod the lot of them, they have no RESPECT for proud clubs like ours, they just pander to the City clubs.

The world wide exposure that signing would bring to Rovers would be massive.Shirt sales through the roof and an immediate increase in gates.

Cant be denied.

Not to mention his set pieces, Samba and co. Would have a field day getting on the end of those!

I keep trying to explain to my girlfriend about what this all actually means.

She is less interested than I would like....

I hope you are referring to her indifference to Rovers. That i can understand and condone...

However, any other type of indifference then you best get to jettisoning that broad, my brother!!!

Pretty much sums up that ‘exceptional’ piece of southern based media coverage.

Everything is OK in the world if this kind of thing only ever happens south of Watford.

After that if your not a city club (no pun intended) then you should know your place.

In fact I would say that after listening to that – I have a touch of Déjà vu – and who had the last laugh then? Still only 4 names on that trophy!

Little old Blackburn about to upset the big boys again - GOOD, DEAL WITH IT!!!

Jason Cundy? Don't make me laugh!

He played for a @#/? CFC side when they had the worst crowds and ground of any of today's leading clubs.

Later Ken Bates was considering Administration for Chelsea, luckily Roman saved his bacon.

Tosser.

If/when this deal is done, it'll be a very interesting time to watch the dealings around Ewood. Hopefully Big Sam gets some cash before the window closes. I am still strongly of the opinion that the transfer money both paid for players and the wages and signing on fees is hugely inflated and needs to be re-balanced. I hope that happens while Mr Syed has ownership of this club so the playing fields are leveled. It'll be the only way we can hope to break even with gate fees and income.

I'm excited about the prospect of what is coming the clubs way and hope it happens very soon with Mr Syed. It should, fingers crossed, be a fantastic time to be a Rovers fan... again!

£30m for Rooney. £30m for Ferdinand. £30m for Berbatov. £14m for Nani. £14m for Carrick.

(Please don't use that word again) off, Ferguson.

I don't think this investment would propel us back into the top 4, more like it will steady our financial position and enable us to invest long term in better youth development and bringing in better quality young plsayers. Because of this I would be horofoed if we tried to bring in David Beckham for instance.

If you throw £100m in to a club like Rovers all that will happen is that everyone will want an extra few grand a week, we won't be able to attract players without paying above the odds, and next thing our wage bill will be well over 100% of income and we'll be well on the way to bankrupcy.

If the new owner takes a short term view then I am not confident at all that it won't be a disaster to rank alongside Portsmouth, leeds and West Ham. Hopefully the nerw owner, whoever he is, is sensible and is buying the club for the long term and not for an immediate shot at success. I think that is what worries me about the quotes about not buying it as a business, what happens if we don't crack the top 6 and he gets fed up?
