[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

Top 6 would be dreamland after the last few years.

Agreed. Put I hope the owners, whomever they might be over the next couple of weeks, don't 'target' some arbitrary point on the league table that they want to be at this year, next, or five years down the line. The proper way forward, IMO, is to identify our squad's weak points (and we have more than a few) and go about strengthening them a bit at a time. This season we need a solid midfielder and another striker. We need a dedicated LB. Next season we'll need some RBs (all are of contract then). Only in the CB position are we truly solid, the true strength of the Rovers. As we improve the squad, our league standing should improve. One leads to the other, not vice-versa.

...you could hear Jason “Chelsea” Cundy and Darren “Yorkshireman” Gough audibly smirking and sniggering at the prospect of “little old Blackburn” ever being able to once again bloody the noses of the big city Clubs! Why would you pump that kind of money into a Club who are never going to do anything? Surely traditional Clubs like Blackburn shouldn’t be up for grabs by these bored oligarchs to be used as their playthings??

Ahh Jason Cundy, the man who can't admit he's going bald, the Chelsea fan that played for Spurs, the London 'salt of the earth geezer' who's Grandad was an upper class Opera singer.

That guy is one consonant away from having an accurate surname.

The medias darling, Arry the Redknapp, who has been in charge of four clubs who went into crisis, will be knocked back a bit if we get money, tonight, agaonst a poor side they struggled, he has lots of players he bough which he sells at a loss, he is an overhyped idiot!!

Something along the lines of Spurs, Chelsea, Citeh being big big cities to attract fans and that Blackburn didn't have enough "Chimney Pots"

Pretty witty for Gary Glitter that one.

Ah well, shame his beloved Spuds have never come remotely close to having their name on the same trophy as us.

I keep trying to explain to my girlfriend about what this all actually means.

She is less interested than I would like....

Oh just jump up and down and be happy. My wife hated football until we went to a live game, since then she loves football, especailly Rovers.ok it did cost me a little. My wife is into theatre and musicals. I had to take her to see Mammamia, Les miserables (spelling)and my fair lady. (got to admit I enjoyed both Le misarables and my fair lady). try making a deal, go to something she likes and then take her to ewood park. The rest, well football freedom. Must confess to wet eyes for les miserbales, and challenge any man not to to do the same.

This news is so exciting that i could hardly sleep last night but the pessimist in me is starting to question Mr. Syeds intentions!!

I really hope he means what he says & plans on being the indian Uncle Jack but doesnt every prospective foreign ower say similar things??

What i love about Blackburn Rovers is the underdog tag!! Small town club, ruffling feathers & spending intelligently! If we took on the Man city or Spurs philosophy of buying the flavour of the monthg id be gutted!!

Financial Times article

Looks like he is also eyeing up a formula 1 team....here it says £80-100m over the next 2 years. :o

Like this quote - But he added that unlike other investments, he was not looking to the club to provide a return on investment.

“Tell me which clubs have paid a return,” he said. “If you buy a Ferrari, you drive it not to make money but to drive it for the passion. This is more a passion.”

Im quite intreagued by the fact he keeps saying there are no targets for Sam. I like the idea of this as it says we are not going to go silly. I do however feel if we don't get a top 10 finish this season there will be disappointment and a poor start next season would see Sam leave. Fortunatly I believe we will be top 10 this season and the players we bring in the next 12 months will see us push for a Euro spot next season through the league.

There is one trophy I would love us to throw everything at in the coming years, the FA Cup, this has to be a realistic goal and would be special as us fans will never have seen Rovers win it and its such a special trophy for the history of the town of Blackburn and of course Rovers. I know this is sentimental crap in a day of money but having seen us win the League and the League Cup I want to see this happen*

*I wouldnt argue with winning the Europa League , League Title or a place in the Champions League(And do well)

That's an excellent point and winning the FA Cup would do wonders to boost our profile (with Syed's marketing team of course) in the Asian markets where the competition retains the romanticism and glamour us English used to hold for it. Being FA Cup winners would be a massive title for an Asian fan to boast about.
