[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

I'm as thrilled as everyone else on here about the huge cash injection for the club, but we should face a reality check for a minute. It'll be the marketing exercise of the century if we can up the attendance to somewhere in the 40's. A new Riverside stand would complete Ewood but who's gonna fill the seats ? This is Blackburn, not Liverpool, Newcastle or Manchester.

A rail link yes, a hotel definitely with increased parking, but the only difference a new stand would make would be aesthetic.

I know this is the wrong thread for this, so apologies mods.

AS, for those things you list at the end as beneficial, the natural location would be behind/built into the Riverside stand. Surely it would make sense to do it all together? We may not ever need the extra capacity, but one day the stand will need to be replaced anyway so why make it more difficult to do in the future by surrounding it with further developments when it could just be done now?

There wouldn't neccessarily need to be a large initial increase to the capacity, why not build oversized foundations to allow for a second tier to be added later?

Anyway, enough of the dreaming. Nicko, when does Benjani sign?

You're right, I was just trying to be realistic :)

Because, if Syed's plan is to generate extra money by increasing Sponsorship in Asia, signing a player from that area could take the thing to a whole new level.

If they're not good enough then we can always move them on again, I'd imagine any signing would more than pay for themselves with increased sponsorship. If we're lucky we might get a decent squad player, like Everton did with Li Tie.

I think there will be plenty of less-than-traditional approaches to making money by new owners because we've exhausted all the normal ways of doing so. This seems one of the relatively pain-free ones, if you compare to things like selling the stadium name etc.

so you would buy a below par player just because hes indian?

Interesting has said Syed has said pretty much all the comments a fan would want to hear. Did not think genuine guys like this existed - his PR team are top notch, I give them that.

He seems to have spoken to every media outlet possible over the past 48 hours!

My only fear is that we are going into the unknown, no one really knows for sure – other foreign owners have come in and said similar things.

John-the one thing about syed is that his finances look sound and his recent 300 million deal with the construction firm back him up.

No one from portsmouth had the credentials that this guy has.

Also picking up on philips point, this has now gone to far for this drop as it will be deeply humiliating for someone like syed, would he want his company referred to as the one that failed to complete the deal to sign blackburn?

I suspect if Mr Syed allowed his pride to dictate whether or not he completed a business deal then he wouldn't be as wealthy as he supposedly is.

Don't get me wrong, fantastic that someone wishes to provide us money for little/no return in the short term.

Would be one of the few foreign takeovers like this though - aren't we lucky?

You have to be slightly suspicious even though as I have said previously, Syed's credentials seem very good.

The Fiver, which is a football round up news service similar to what Nicko's mates at Football 365 do, came up with that monicker if memory serves me right. It was given around the time we had Todd, Savage etc and regularly topped the disciplinary charts.

Yep correct. They had names for most clubs--City were Human Rights FC when Sinawattra owned them and Birmingham were Bongo City when the porn brokers owned them. To my knowledge no-one else but the Guardian Fiver ever used that tongue-in- cheek nickname so the journalist has no idea.

You don't have to be suspicious. Because we really have no idea what he actually will do, you could simply, for now, take him at his word.

The comments from him regarding rebuilding the ground are just him thinking out loud and trying to enthuse the fans. He isn't going to come in here and immediately start to redevelop Ewood is he? He will take advice on the matter. Give him some slack until we know more.

Rothschild's and the trustees, who have far more of an insight on Syed than us, will go with Shah, if there's a better, more solid bid coming from him.

Also those answers flit from first person to third person a bit are you sure it isn't from a publicist?

Sounded like a very bad dictation to me. Probably spoke to someone holding a notepad and told them to type up the answers.

Still making the right noises, even through a ghost writer.

Well done Kamy.

Granted we need to be cautious, it would be insane not to be. However, the people that are beginning to start thinly veiled accusations and insults should stop. If I were looking to spend three hundred million on a club, seeing the fans of that club desperately looking for dirt about me would upset me.

He wants to be accepted as one of us. I have no reason not to accept him. Sir, I'm happy to have you as a fan of our fine club.

Sam is renowned for his pioneering work in the English game for introducing sports scientists and pushing at the envelope of what is possible in developing players. Would it be possible to develop a world class centre of excellence in sports science at Brockhall perhaps linked to some of the top class Universities in the region?

Our team is currently working on the different aspects of utilising the potential of Blackburn Rovers and its assets. Again, it is a little pre-mature to go into details here.

Thanks Kamy, good question.

Guest Kamy100

There is a very good possibility that if the takeover is successful that a face to face Q&A can be arranged for members of this board.
