Does anyone think the takeover will be completed before the end of the transfer window now ? Or are we definitely looking after the window closes ?

I'd be surprised if it's completed before the window closes, maybe Kamy/Phillip will be able to update us in a few days time.

Sorry, continual winning football from Rovers would pee a lot off but Beckham simply doesnt fit into that winning formula.

"continual winning football' would pee this Board off. There'd be nothing to moan about.

Can somebody confirm the pinkyness is now fixed (it probably have only affected some browsers anyway). I now get what was happening when somebody was complaining about pink posts months ago (the confusion came about 'cos when a mod hides a post, the other mods and admina see it on a pinky background, and I thought that's what some of you were seeing).

Buy David Beckham and in 2 years your going to need to replace him, buy someone who is a better footballer now and at a younger age and you dont need to replace him. Its really as simple as that.

Don't recall saying anything about "buying"? His current club have shown a willingness to loan his services out. I'm a big, big fan of buying young (my mum is always telling me to shut up about it when we talk football), but Syed is in a different financial class and we can quite possibly (if he isn't full of crap) afford these shorter term but highly beneficial signings if/when he takes over.

After the feeding frenzy of the previous posts, my initial reservations about Mr. Ali's takeover bid have ironically given way to concerns for Mr. Ali.

I'm beginning to wonder who needs protecting from whom?

To put things in perspective, there's a big city club just down the road from Blackburn, which, despite spending unprecedented amounts of money, often struggles to sell all its tickets. That's the same club that, ten-years ago, sold-out virtually every home game in League 1 (or the old Third Division). Not surprising really considering the recession, an increasingly competitive leisure market and random kick off times. For that reason, the last thing we need is to be lumbered with a gaping 19,000 seat White Elephant - conveniently facing the TV cameras - reminding the incumbent on a fortnightly basis of the folly of huge infrastructure projects in a provincial club with a small catchment area.

Secondly, talk of signing a 36 year-old Beckham, after he has just recently learned to walk again without the aid of crutches, is plain embarrassing. A shrewd business man and accomplished self-publicist he may be, but as far as I'm aware, Mr. Ali hasn't claimed spiritual ministry. He can preach the good news to the poor, but he can't make the lame walk. Caution should be counselled; if you walk too long with a cripple, you'll eventually start to walk with a limp.

Fortunately help is at hand. I'm putting my faith in Kamy100 to help keep Mr. Ali out of the clutches of the lunatic fringe who seem intent on sending him on knights' errands to daydream castles and to tilt at windmills. Someone has to play the role of Sancho Panza, to Mr. Ali's Don Quixote. Someone has to guide him away from the path of personal privation and public humiliation, down which some swivel-eyed fantasists and iPhone message board Ouanquers would so merrily lead him…and the rest of us.

Answering Paul's question.

I am opposed to anyone using debt to "buy" into clubs.

There is no evidence that Syed would use debt to buy Rovers and some evidence that he will not.

I think two statements need to be taken at face value:

Syed- will invest £300m on the club over 15 years

Walker Trust- will sell to a buyer who can do better for Rovers in the future than they can.

I tend to qualify most of my comments on here which people reading in black and white (not addressed at you Paul) overlook.

But I will re-iterate what I have said without qualification:

- Rovers need £hundreds of millions and that to spend that sort of money requires a multi-billionaire of whom there are very few around

- The process will take five weeks from entering exclusivity

- The deal was done BEFORE the Trust granted exclusivity and will now happen barring something totally weird blowing-up. The Trust are over the threshhold of selling.
