[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

My Spidey Senses are tingling.

Exactly. Wish I'd used that description Balwer! :)

btw ... just one point you agree with? :P

It's not often I find myself in agreement with you Gordon, but much of what you say here is what has been going through my head since I started reading this stuff and the questions that keep coming back are why and why now? There's something afoot somewhere and this engaging with fans makes me more suspicious than anything.

I suppose a tick from teecher is too much to ask gumboots? :P

I'll even give you an IRIS reward as they are called in our school. Collect enough and you can trade them in for exciting prizes, the most popular being footballs.

This forum is the funniest webpage in existence.

Rivercider posts....Everyone interested, cursing the obvious missed chance. Even the majority of people that were badmouthing Dan Williams are suddenly on his side. Suddenly the thought of "Let's get him back" arises...

*A few days later*

No Rivercider posts, someone says "Isn't the timing of this odd? Why would he post a real E-Mail address?" This leads to everyone now going "Yeah! This is dodgy! Timing is too odd!"

Reminds me of the South Park "Rabble!" Rabble!

From reading all of the previous posts, it seems clear to me that this was another missed chance to take the club forward. It always seems to happen at a time when it would have been perfect to really build on something good too. It is a shame because now it would take substantial investment to even lift us to our 2007 selves...

So...

Rivercider is one of the following -

1) Alan Nixon in disguise

2) Someone else in disguise who has found top secret documents (Lofty? Vinjay? Grooby?)

3) Some working for a potential new takeover group testing the waters

4) Just some bloke who has made *a few* lucky guesses

5) Someone who was involved in the Dan Williams situation, and has had to wait this long to defend his friends/colleagues/business contacts for a series of inaccurate attacks/comments

The guy may well be the real thing, but that doesn't mean to say that the whole situation is not odd. I didn't attack Williams at the time, I haven't jumped on the missed opportunity bandwagon and I'm perfectly prepared to wait and see who and what is going on. However, you have to be a bit sceptical about most things as very few of us ever operate without some kind of agenda, openly admitted or hidden.

No chance. At the risk of reprisal this bloke constructs his posts differently and imo is superior wordsmith to Nicko. ^_^

BUT I wouldn't bet against old Nicko ringing the States to tell em that 25m will seal it. Rem he has their number and many deals include a finders fee of one sort or another.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but might the plot be thickening somewhat? Oh well it's passing a wet Sat very nicely.

Enjoy the Top Gear, next time we talk ask me about the 24 hours of Lemons, we have two spots left for drivers!

Took the advice. E-mailed DW and got a response. Just want to share it with you all. Fantastic news.

Paul,

Great to hear from you. Of course I'll see you at half time, I know the spot you usually meet den and Baz. I'll see you there, I'm the big guy with ginger hair. We can sort out the fine details of the takeover with Mr J Williams after the match.

cheers for now

DW

Does that post really help anybody?

The point being anyone can make up an e-mail and post it on a message board. Your point can refer equally to my post, which it did, or rivercider's.

When someone has come on here and has given a detailed account of what happened 3 years ago, backed up by Alan Nixon, why would they throw in a fake email address in there as a red herring?

If the first part of the above is valid, then why not the second?

I am only basing my conviction on the fact that Alan Nixon, a respected journalist has concurred.

I think you now have a very detailed, particularly well-informed summation of events three years ago...

Not sure what it does to help the present situation though.

The bottom line is that the club needs/wants a buyer with money.

Having not been on this board for a few days, I have just caught up reading this thread.

I think that what has been written still leaves a lot of questions unanswered.

From you memory of 3 years ago with regards to D Williams and a possible takeover, is there anything that Rivercider has written NOT CORRECT.

Even though imfo was hidden by the NDA - I think it very strange that somebody would want to publicly expose what rivercider has - it smacks of words from an untrustworthy person. Within hours of an NDA coming to an end - it imfo is disclosed.

The person though did say that the current interest in Rovers is from Israel - is there any truth in that?

I am left thinking that if something sounds to good to be true then it normally isn't.

Of course the possibility is that rivercider is who he says he is and is a genuine individual. But I am still sceptical of why a trust can be quickly exposed.

Unless there is a renewed interest in Rovers from Dan williams and he, and others, are trying to get the fans onside first before making a new approach by revealling the situation 3 years ago.

Do you seriously think that a prospective purchaser considers it crucial that the 1% of Rovers fans who regularly contribute on here are 'onside' with them? And that they would have a three year plan to achieve that goal?

As I recall, Nicko's arrival was 'suspicious', 'too good to be true' etc. And he's still here, no doubt still in the pay of the nefarious Williams, having successfully established his cover story to lure us into something or other.

Or perhaps people who knew what went on just can't stand the ludicrous nonsense posted on here as being fact. I know I can't and I haven't a clue what happened.

I think that this is all an elaborate plan to make us be nice to ginger people.

If it's PR spin then it's worked. I suspect that if I see a tall ginger chap in the Fox before the game on Sunday I'll offer to buy him a pint!

I don't at this moment consider anything. I am just sceptical at this moment in time. I question motive. Why a person would post on here imfo that he claims was NDA. What is the motive? Is it all a hoax etc.

Nicko's arrival may have been suspicious at the time. But just because he has proved himslef to be genuine, dosent mean we apply that to every person - but time will tell.

Nicko has verified the gentleman's story.

Just cannot understand the mans motive for posting what he has. I looked back on this thread and noticed that rivercider had replied to my post. This was about a link that philip posted about the LET article about Dan Williams. I commented that the article mentioned that there were other parties also interested in buying Rovers - I asked if it was known who these other were. Then we have rivercider who replied (the rest is hsitory)

Even if Nicko has confirmed the gentlemans story, can the gentleman be trusted. As soon as the NDA is over with, he reveals what he has done. The question I ask is Why? Is there another agenda here? what is it? Or am I the only one who is sceptical?

I'm skeptical myself but sometimes things are just what they are. There doesn't always have to be some hidden agenda.

I wasn't around on the forum at the time of the proposed takeover but it seems Mr Williams was met with a lot of negativitand now that the NDA is over he simply wants to clear his name about what happened, or at least someone on his behalf does.

If I was in a position to take over our club and it all went a bit pear shaped then I certainly wouldn't want my fellow fans hating me for it without letting them know the full story.

Maybe there is more too it but sometimes the most obvious conclusion is the correct one.
