[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Buried in Dan King's NOTW match report is a comment that 'whispers' in the game say the takeover will not go through. Maybe the Comebackid's Sancho Panza is abroad. More's the pity.

That will be here then: "This level of entertainment was surely not what Carson Yeung signed up for when he took over at Birmingham. And if Indian businessman Ahasan Ali Syed is not already having second thoughts about buying Blackburn - the whispers are the deal will not happen - then a DVD of the first 45 minutes should do it."

All we know is the guy studied in london, made lots of cash, comes from India and fancies an investment in a foot all club.. What's your song suggestion?

If I tell you that you really won't like it.

Don't have one!!

NOTW

There is more substance to something from chaddy than that. IF the whispers - subconscious wish fulfillment - have any substance, as substantial as the ghost of a jellyfish, at all it could be that the prospective new owner is in the new phase of not talking to the press.

The British press naturally assume the worst and if the prospective owners suddenly stop talking about it: 1+1=2

Either way, we will endure.

Nicko come back we love you,

Nicko come back we need you,

Nicko come back - life has no meaning,

Without you or your commentary being,

around on here, adding your ideas,

for oh so many years.

Fans from Finland to the murky depths of New York,

desire your news, prose, and rumor.

You are so much more than a pixilated journalist -

a reason for being, what we are, who we were.

You complete us.

Through the compacted paper,

to the ink of the centuries,

you stand like a giant, needing no shoulders,

to stand on. You are a colossus,

and 11 o’clock is your time for worship,

and this thread - your alter.

Come back and let us partake,

in your host, in the blood of your rumor.

Fill us and make us complete,

from now until forever -

and always,

Amen.

Question for Philip.

I dont have the foggiest about business dealings and due diligence whereas you seem to be quite up to speed. The following q's need answering.

Is it possible that things have gone quiet whilst the ink is being dried on a purchase ?

Could the deal be in real jeapardy since the last comments were made by WGA as a 3rd party might have approached them with a suitable deal for another club (said club being LFC following their collapse of a proposed takeover) ?

Or is it just summisation nased on the silence enimating from within the walls of Ewood Park ?

It just seems so bloody odd with all the noises coming out last week to be replaced by deathly silence. No comments from the club, no real clues from the manager and the purchser (or proposed buyer) has gone off the radar big time.

It really would be cruel to have siad what has been said an then to be let down big time.

WGA PRIDE THEMSELVES ON THEIR ETHICS AND PROFESSIONALISM. THEY ASKED FOR AND GOT 4 WEEKS EXCLUSIVITY TO DO THE DUE DILIGENCE BECAUSE PRESUMABLY THAT IS WHAT THEY THOUGHT THEY NEEDED. THAT IN ITSELF IS QUICK- THEY SAY ON THE WEBSITE THEY NORMALLY NEED 5 TO 6 WEEKS.

MY VIEW IS THE PURCHASE WAS AGREED BEFORE THE DUE DILIGENCE STARTED AND MY FORECAST WAS ALWAYS FIVE WEEKS TO SALE COMPLETION FROM DATE OF SIGNING EXCLUSIVITY.

Could the deal be in real jeapardy since the last comments were made by WGA as a 3rd party might have approached them with a suitable deal for another club (said club being LFC following their collapse of a proposed takeover) ?

ALI HAS SAID HE LOOKED AT LIVERPOOL BEFORE HE LOOKED AT ROVERS. LFC ARE HARDLY A BETTER BET THAN THEY WERE A FEW WEEKS AGO. OF COURSE UNKNOWN CLUBS WILL HAVE BEEN RINGING WGA UP BUT AFTER WHAT HE HAS SAID PUBLICLY, ALI IS GOING TO LOOK VERY BAD IF HE GOES TO ANOTHER CLUB NOW. MORE TO THE POINT WHAT PREMIER LEAGUE CLUBS ARE AVAILABLE WHERE HIS MONEY COULD BE AS IMMEDIATELY EFFECTIVE AS AT ROVERS? NONE.

Or is it just summisation nased on the silence enimating from within the walls of Ewood Park ?

ROVERS HAVE NOT BEEN SILENT- THEY ISSUED A STATEMENT CONFIRMING THE EXCLUSIVE FOUR WEEKS DUE DILIGENCE. BECAUSE ROVERS USUALLY SAY THE BARE MINIMUM, THAT IS ACTUALLY A BIG STEP FORWARDS.

It just seems so bloody odd with all the noises coming out last week to be replaced by deathly silence. No comments from the club, no real clues from the manager and the purchser (or proposed buyer) has gone off the radar big time.

YOU HAVE HAD ALL THE NEWS TO BE EXPECTED AT THIS STAGE. IT WILL NOW GO DEATHLY QUIET FOR ANOTHER THREE WEEKS.

It really would be cruel to have siad what has been said an then to be let down big time. AGREED BUT I DON'T THINK THIS SALE IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN REGARDLESS OF THE NEWS OF THE WORLD'S FOOTBALL REPORTER THINKS HE SORT OF HEARD AT BRUM YESTERDAY.

why would he be having "second thoughts"? Because we fell to an unlucky away defeat to Birmingham?

Thanks Philip, just lazing on a Sunday afternoon and tbh there aint a lot else to think about other than how cold is my cold lager ?

I just hope we hear something positive this week or at least we get two players arriving and 3 or 4 leaving.

Because they have no story so they have to try and think one up by trying to put down a deal that is very advanced.

Think kamy said he had spoken to syeds people who had intenionally gone quiet to concentrate on the deal rather than talking to the press.

Yep that was after the Beckham misquote. I think he would have been better served keeping a lower profile until everything was finalised but at least it provided a more in depth look at the man trying to buy us.

Hahaha I do not believe this thread sometimes.

They have four weeks. FOUR WEEKS. If the deal has not been done yet it is probably because they have not had FOUR WEEKS as required. Just in case anyone is still having trouble with this.....

FOUR WEEKS. If after FOUR WEEKS we have not heard anything then you can be worried but up until then, just remember that they have been given FOUR WEEKS.

Also, the media would LOVE the takeover not to happen. How could Liverpool's takeover not go through and then Blackburn are bought by a billionaire? They would hate a town club competing again, they hated us first time around so of course they are going to report on whispers. For the time being, I'll stick with the overwhelming volume of evidence to suggest the takeover is going through and ignore the whispers which is nothing more than Journos having a game of Chinese Whispers between them!!

Nail firmly hit on head there BPF.If they could, the media would move heaven and earth to scupper this deal....'LITTLE' Blackburn should know their place in their green eyed, biased opinions.

I have to admit though that I was getting a little weary of Mr Syed talking to the press....thats not the way Rovers do their business, never has been.

Mr Ali's people have said that they will not be making further comment to the media and are concentrating on getting the due diligence completed.

They are still very much looking at purchasing Rovers, I suspect that things got a little out of control last week with all the coverage of Mr Ali's comments. I also think that he was being over optimistic by saying that this could be completed quickly, we won't hear anything further until the deal has been complete or if Mr Ali decides not to purchase Rovers.

Also 1864 you have to remember if he went for Liverpool he would have to clear their massive debt so not as much money would go on transfers. Whereas Rovers have 20m debt & 25m for the purchase of the club hence the fact it would be much cheaper to buy us than them & you'd get more for the money. Also that NOTW article is totally false as has been said they have gone intentionally quiet on the deal so there is no way they could go to the press or Rovers would be unhappy, and when has the NOTW ever had any credibility?. They are just doing their best to scupper the deal.

Imagine if sam was saying that the deal wont go through til after the window and syed going quiet is part of a plan...

The plan is to sign the deal quietly before the window shuts..act like we have no money n then on transfer deadline day buy players on the cheap makin clubs think we have no more money to give,we get guiza, reo coker, popov, ben arfa and more and register em last min b4 everyone realises that we had the money to spend after all..lol how awesome would that be...if only eh

There was a time I thought that. I then realised how impossible that would be. They would, the buyers and sellers and the club, have to tell the prem etc that the club is now owned by another party before they could even trade, players in or out. It is maybe ideal in another world to do what you suggest, but would show dishonesty etc, to everybody else. We all want the best deal no matter what business we endulge in. I do not think Blackburn Rovers are the type of club to go about business in a dishonest way. They may keep what they are doing quiet, not make a song and dance about everything that they do etc. But I think that what they do is honest. They still retain family values etc.

I thought mr. Syed said he was following us for the last 10 years and then he would not be buying us on the basis of one game in, with all due resect, we were the better team?

He will though when he sees us squash Arsenal... :xmas:

I think we should take into account Syed's age. Is it 36? So ten years ago he was 26. When did he have this money to splash? Oh what years was that 2000. When did Jack die? Ten years in my view is a lot of coincidence, when we consider Rovers in the media ten years ago.

On Wednesday I asked for this thread to be closed to allow the take-over to proceed. Probably so that no 'muppets' on here either disrespect

or stampede WGA into re-thinking the whole venture.

wake me up in 3 weeks after its all over!(500 posts in 6 years)

I'm not sure what's funnier:

You proclaiming to the world that you're studying at some second-rate social sciences polytechnic - and calling other people pretentious, ('Keele'; that's near Stoke isn't it?); or the thought of some spotty sociology student spending his Friday nights on a football internet message board.

Yawn. I think you proved the point I made very well, thankyou.

Good job on presuming to know me, too. Before you start, I called your post pretentious, not you- but I see I have to revise that. But since you're so curious...I'm not proclaiming it to the world, it is just a description of my location. Therefore, I put it in my...(wait for it)....location. I actually graduated two years ago, but I simply haven't cared enough to update it. But since you're the second tedious bore to make an inane comment about it in the last few weeks, I suppose I might as well. Keele is a University, and has in fact not been anything remotely close a polytechnic since 1962. It was rated 8th in the country for the degree I was studying when I began studying it, and only a miscommunication prevented me studying at the 4th-ranked University. I'm not spotty, I'm not a student, I spend very little time here in truth, but best of all- you've proven yet again that you're pretentious by looking down on me for 'being' a University student. Congratulations! Have a nice evening.

If your username is because you're the "must-have-the-last-word" type, go ahead. I don't care enough to stop you. Back to the football and the takeover...on which I agree with prior posters that - since Syed's people have told Kamy they won't be talking to the media until the saga is over - there is no need to panic until we hear something real.

Typical red top tool. Wishful thinking substantiated by mythical "whispers" only.

Probably very sad but when the takeover goes through I may try to find King's or King's editor's email address and fire off a very smug, short message inspired by Scottish anticedants -

"GET IT RIGHT ******* UP YEES!"
