1864roverite Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I think the initial story has run its course as it has died a death. Something allegedly so big would have made the London Scribes panting with ecstacy about Rovers potential Billionaire owner being a "dirtywhatever". The truth is, WGA appear to be what they are, a well run company with multi billion investments. If it was anything other, I am certain Kamy or Nicko would have had a lot more to say on the matter. Add this to the fact the other suitors for our club seem to have shrivelled away from the spotlight.

Hughesy Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 No one likes us, we dont care!! It will be a done deal, I have no doubt about it! Cant wait!
RevidgeBlue Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 It will be a done deal, I have no doubt about it! Oh bugger.
MarkBRFC71 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Oh bugger. What were those Aussies offering again?
ada2020 Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Andy Cryer says he's... well, this is what he says: "Exclusive follow up to takeover saga in LT tomorrow. Interesting read" There's probably a mystery bidder in for rovers, cryer won't be able to divulge to much though.
BlueMonday Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Oh bugger. If it doesn't happen lets hope there's a Plan B. This summer has shown that we cannot continue with absent landlords. This season, certainly up to the next transfer window, with or without a take over, are make or break for our club IMHO. If this current squad cant produce the goods on the pitch and we find ourselves rooted at the wrong end of the table, it might even be too late for mega bucks squad improvements to pull us out of the mire. And its a near certainty the Trust wont sanction big spending on the squad. Praying we can continue 'punching above our weight'

Praying we can continue 'punching above our weight' The trust must be confident of a sale as without the funding we risk being left behind other clubs and worse still relegation, which in turn would make the club impossible to sell. I would hazard a guess if the takeover doesn't go through and we were in trouble in January there WOULD be money to spend because Premier League football is the only way they will offload the club to a suitable buyer.

A very dangerous game indeed.

I can't see how that can be assumed as we have been in quite a lot of difficulty in January the last two seasons yet no money was forthcoming. Hopefully we won't be in any trouble this time round of course.
Guest Kamy100 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Superb exclusive in the Lancashire Telegraph. A very lengthy interview with Julia Thiem: - She refutes BBC report - Will fight to clear WGA name - They did close office, but this was to relocate to another part of Bahrain - Due to Ramadan the new offices not quite ready - Only way to stop these rumours is to buy the club and prove to fans that they are good owners - Want to get through the new fit and proper test, they will be first owners to go through it Well done to Andy Cryer, great scoop for him and the newspaper.
philipl Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 What comes over is there is already a real passion to fight for the club and not being put off by some dirty tricks. It might be premature to write this but we are two full news cycles after the BBC "revelation" and none of Fleet Street's finest diggers who no doubt piled in to find the dirt have published anything. Looks like the BBC employed an investigative reporter to look at multi billion pound industry who is ignorant of the basics of company law. A "close" or "closed" limited company is an English legal invention which the Bahrain Government incorporated into it's own laws. This is a pretty fundamental failing.
Iceman Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Fantastic news that, and all i will say is GET INTO EM MR SYED, AND RIP INTO THOSE CLOWNS AT THE BBC. BRFC FOR THE WIN.

Can you post a link to the article. As a lot of us outside Blackburn cannot get the LT. I wonder why it is that the BBC hates Rovers. Has this happened since Shearer started being a pundit. Time for anti BBC chants.

tonyoz Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Therefore getting clearance from the PL would be a two day nod through but the emergence of these allegations almost certainly mean the PL would take the full ten days and crawl over Mr Ali looking for potential sources of embarassment. That delay is likely to be the real base cost of the BBC arrticle. Not a bad thing in the circumstances.

The Guardian had it yesterday: Gaurdian As did the Telegraph: Telegraph Although both papers only quote the original BBC report.

That's the point I am making, if this were a really serious issue, these guys would not be merely re-cycling the BBC as they would have found more.

Yep I see that, just putting the links out there, I want you to be correct on this matter as much as the next person.

brian_gallagher85 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Must be down to the horse racing....
Guest Kamy100 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Seems like a rehash of the BBC story, they have no official comment from the Bahrain Government or any proof that what they alledge has actually happened.
tonyoz Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Syed's own comments would seem to suggest that some of the story has merit - as quoted in the LT: “The Bahraini authorities have asked for clarification on WGA’s investment activities and we are co-operating fully with their enquiries."
