Ricky Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It would be nice to get this slightly back on topic. At the moment there seems to be quite a lot of mud being thrown about, hopefully it will all come out in the wash and we'll know what's going on. At present we just need to sit tight and see how things pan out. I'm sure Mr Ali will be working very hard to get a deal concluded and that's what we need to be looking towards. Surely this transfer window has highlighted the need for new investment and new ideas. Lets welcome the takeover and get behind it. We can't keep going on the way we have over the last window, it's only a matter of time before relegation would be a certainty. It's been a couple of weeks now, hopefully in the next week or two we should know what's happening.

Hughesy Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It's been a couple of weeks now, hopefully in the next week or two we should know what's happening. Im hopeful we will hear something by the end of Monday at the latest - perhaps Saturday if we are lucky!!
T4E Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 We have a multi-billionaire committed to a 15 year plan injecting £300m into our club. In what way do we have a multi-billionaire committed to injecting £300m in to our club? All we've had so far is talk Philip. He is in no way committed to anything, even if the sale goes through. Being so blindly pro-Syed does the club no more favours than it would being anti him. For some reason unbeknownst to me there are a seemingly large number of posters on this thread that take what you say on the subject as gospel. You might want to exercise a little more caution, for their sake as much as your own.
only2garners Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 In what way do we have a multi-billionaire committed to injecting £300m in to our club? Anyone who gets this far down the due diligence road must be committed. It doesn't mean that the deal is done but you have to have commitment to invest this much time and effort.
T4E Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 ......committed to buying the club. Do we really believe that his "15 year plan to invest £300m" is written in to the sale contract?
John Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Some people on here, IMO, have been getting far too carried away with this potential takeover. In particular, some posters comments seem strangely overly positive, particularly as they have never heard of Syed before his interest in Rovers became public. Potentially spending millions in the transfer market is obviously music to any fan's ears - especially when your current transfer budget is nearly zero. However, talk can be cheap - I am going to wait and see for a little bit, because in all honesty, I currently know very little about our prospective new owner. I just think it is a tab naïve to get so carried away at this stage.
Backroom trueblue Posted September 1, 2010 Backroom Posted September 1, 2010 If we are 'aquired' by Mr Syed, 100M over 15 years on transfers equates to just over 6M per year... Hardly going to get us top quality players is it? still, 6M is 6M more than we've spent this window
67splitscreen Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 If we are 'aquired' by Mr Syed, 100M over 15 years on transfers equates to just over 6M per year... Hardly going to get us top quality players is it? still, 6M is 6M more than we've spent this window I read it as 100m in the first 5 year plan for the playing staff.

Guest Kamy100 Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It's 100 million for the for the first five years. That would end phase one of his 15 year plan. I can assure you that to get this far, Syed would have had to shown Rovers conclusive proof that he has the finance in place.
rebelmswar Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 It was £100 m over the first 5 I believe. If sam is smart he can do a lot with that
Backroom trueblue Posted September 1, 2010 Backroom Posted September 1, 2010 I stand corrected 100M over the first 5 years it is Come on Mr Syed.. get this deal done!
Hughesy Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 If sam is smart he can do a lot with that IF being the key word!!
ewoodpo Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 What gets me is that when both City and Chelski were bought neither the Arabs nor the Russians made any noises about their business . This guy seems to be loving the media attention and can't seem to keep out of the papers. Another thing they said that they would not be commenting on the purchase until after the whole process was completed. What do they do keep quiet for a week and it's here we go again with another statement. Oh and don't come on here and say they had to react to the BBC story that's just rubbish,as a statement was released prior to that in which they indicated how well things were going. I had my doubts about Shah which has now been confirmed that he hasn't got the money and I have a funny feeling about this guy. Who knows I might be wrong but you've got to ask the question why would a successful businessman want to buy a football club that is loosing money by the day.Now he might go on about this 15 year plan, is it really going to work look at Villa, Sunderland, and now Birmingham City has it worked ?
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 TBH how many times does Syed speak to the press? It's normally done through a spokeperson. He would seem to be quite a reclusive figure. Interesting that in the LT Ms Thiem stated his wealth came froom inheritance and referred to him as a Biliionaire.

True, but how often does the organ grinder give statements it is generally left to the monkey. And another thing why werent Mr Syed or his people at the Arsenal game. You would have thought it would have been an ideal oppertunity to meet Sam and the boys, the other thing is he is a bit like Mr Shah nobody in the rich circles in India have ever heard of him. I'm an Indian not a rich one mind you I've heard of people like Ambani,Mithal,Singh, Burman, Syed or Shah never heard of them.

However proving that you have £300m and spending £300m are two entirely different things.

So if he buys the club, what do you think he will do if he doesnt put in the money as sugegsted?? I guess we'll be stuck with owners that wont spend anything on us.........oh wait a minute.......
philipl Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I notice there is now no link to that story which appeared on Sunday on the BBC website. I have still sent a complaint off about that "closed" company nonsense where they mistook a "closed joint stock company" ie a private limited company for a company that had been closed!

True, but how often does the organ grinder give statements it is generally left to the monkey. And another thing why werent Mr Syed or his people at the Arsenal game. Monkey or not she is hard working, considered and a dam sight more eloquent than her employer from what I have read.
