I notice there is now no link to that story which appeared on Sunday on the BBC website.

I have still sent a complaint off about that "closed" company nonsense where they mistook a "closed joint stock company" ie a private limited company for a company that had been closed!

No link but its still on their website:

There's no proof that was what happened and I'm not so sure what you posted is true.

I saw the entry myself however it doesn't mean that was the basis for the BBC's allegations.

Judging by how Syed's spokespeople have responded there is something untoward going on with his business in Bahrain, however the best we can hope for is that it's fairly innocuous (which it may be) and doesnt make too much of a difference on his European operations.

This guy seems to be loving the media attention and can't seem to keep out of the papers.

Another thing they said that they would not be commenting on the purchase until after the whole process was completed. What do they do keep quiet for a week and it's here we go again with another statement.

look at Villa, Sunderland and now Birmingham City has it worked ?

They announced their intention & spoke about Beckham at the beginning.....They then responded to speculation about the document (which they did as they said they would).....They never said anything until last week, when people where starting to speculate if we would complete the takeover prior to deadline day (basically confirmed they wouldnt) - thats all. Then they defended themselves.

Villa stopped spending, Sunderland have calmed down, and Brum havent really even started with the promised injection - doubt any of them have put anything close to £300m on the table.

And another thing why werent Mr Syed or his people at the Arsenal game.

None of his team was there? Are you sure??

Villa have spent £130m over the last 4 years (Syed has promised £100m over the first 5 years), Sunderland have just bought Gyan for £13 million and Birmingham have spent £6m on Zigic, signed Hleb on presumably massive wages and signed quite a few others this window too.

So far i have pretty much sat on the fence regarding this takeover. If it is as good as Mr Syed's PR people suggest, then fantastic. If not then i haven't allowed myself to get too carried away by it to consider putting my head in the oven.

However some facts are scattered amongst the sound bites and articles;

1. Mr Syed controls either in 'liquid' or asset terms vast amounts of money (Billions?).

2. His company WGA has achieved remarkable growth over the last 5 years.

3. He has openly expressed an interest in buying a football club in the most famous and publicised league in the world.

4. He has promised (truthfully or not) to invest heavily in the side and possibly returning us to glory days of old.

Now, if you consider 1 and 2 then why on earth would he have been anything less than truthful in regards to 3 and 4? It is detrimental to his own success to have attempted to buy an EPL side if his business is anything less then legit. WGA is clearly a success story in terms of growth and assets it controls. Why risk your clientele by exposing yourself via excessive publicity which comes with buying a football club?

Finally, why when this story broke would his PR people have vehemently denied the claims if they had something to hide? It is counter productive to continue a fight you know you will lose. If they were a global, billion dollar equivalent of Trotters Independant Traders then, with Rovers continued discretion, they could have quietly backed out of the deal without comment. To come out fighting such as they have suggests to me this is little more than a minor misdemeanor. I don't buy into the conspiracy theory that people are out to get us or scupper any deal. But with the publicity Mr Syed and WGA have had, people are bound to dig and look closely at their credentials. Seems if you look long and hard enough you can find something not quite right.

If there was a shred of truth in the story it would be all over every media outlet known to man. If the media had a chance to destroy our clubs foundations, expose a cheat, disgrace the club, disgrace the memory of Jack Walker or anything else associated with BRFC they would be running the story as a major headlines.

the truth is they arent, they havent and in all reality it does appear that Blackburn Rovers will have new owners in approx 20 days time.

Consider the media output for the likes of Portsmouth, the Glazers, Hill and pillock at Liverpoo and Lerners takeover at Villa. Its been massive. if the likes of what was reported about our club when we sacked mr calamity Ince then I am sure Oliver Holt would be all over it like a rash in a whorehouse.

Imagine, scandal and Rovers ?

the press see us as upstarts and we can never be forgiven for beating United to the title and beating Spurs at Cardiff. A town club that took on the b ig city clubs and beat them hands down. The media darlings rolled by t'Rovers.

From what I have heard, the takeover is all but signed sealed and ready for contract exchange, the takeover team are preparing to meet the Premier League for approval, its all go.

Only Kamy has the real insight and I am certain that he can almost confirm what I have heard.

The new Blackburn Rovers may not be as brazen as Jacks Rovers but I get the feeling that Ali's blue and white army may just have to find their marching boots once more. The fact that he has come out and made a point about proving things are happening suggests the initial ride is going to be a hell of a start.

Its time to believe folks, it is really happening.

So the likes of Knighton, gaydamak, chanrai, shinawatra, the liverpoo 2, the glazers have all not been ridiculed or pilloried through the media ?

Come on mate, if theres a story to be told they will tell it, make the tale grow and before you know it the chinese whispers are headline news.

The press do nothing but persecute.

A friend of mine elderly chap works at the club told me that the only people that turned up were the airline people we have a sponsership deal with.

PS Hughsey it's bed time now, way too late to get into a debate with you some of us have DAY JOBS. :P

A lot of those owners deserved to be persecuted. However it's specifically the persecution stuff against Rovers I don't buy into. I think theyre more pro the "big" clubs as that's where more of their readership and profits lie, but I don't think it's anything personal against us or that they want to see us fail.

I'm all for speaking of the evils of our national press and the poisonous effects they have on the general populace, but if I was a Manchester United fan when it comes to the likes of the Glazers the more media reporting of their evils the better.

Sorry but I do not buy into this persecution complex stuff at all..

I don't think the media is specifically anti-Rovers- though 1995 and 'buying the title' is an easy putdown.

However, they do patronise and belittle the northern town clubs at every turn. No feel for the history and origins of the game, ignorance on repsective populations and blinded by large crowds that clubs from large cities are obviously going to draw.

None of them have had £300m promised (minimum) though....The £100m is only the beginning

Brum were said to have £30m kitty last Jan - it never happened!

Similar - hopefully the stuff we have been hearing happens...He has certainly proved his funds to the trust anyway :)

16m in this window, Foster 6m Zigic 6m Beausejour 4m and Jiranek 325k

24m last season, granted most was spent in the summer but still 40m in 12 months and no incoming revenue from sales.

Let's see what we get over the first 12 moths.

Villa's net spend in the last four seasons after the sale of Milner is 58m

Since Learner took over their net spend is 12.5m per season.

We should be looking to achieve more for that sort of spend. ;)

Didnt that fella take over mid-season last term? So has actually spent £16m this summer + whatever from January last?

That's what I said not sure who and when the 24m was spent on, according to the data I'm using most were from the summer, Dann, Johnson, Beniez, Espinoza, Gardner and Michel.

maybe the last two were January signings.

He will no doubt be picking up the tab on the summer signings I guess.

£16m this summer yes, though they quoted £8m for Benitez when they ended up loaning him so £16m last season as well.

Still, there's been a lot of investment there.
