ewoodpo Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Iv put abit of a summary in the Williams & Co thread.. WTF they've taken it off, not really much in the interview i've actually forgotten what was in it. I'll have to go and get a paper later on,sorry about that folks. Cryer what are you playing at sucker making me look like a fool.
koi Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 It said that the club resisted some serious offers for a number of the senior players including a £5m offer for Andrews*. He also mentions that Roberts had to go before another striker could be brought in as having more than four strikers is out of the question. The reason for not bringing in players was down to the players being over-valued or removed from the market. The club needs investment to go forward but in the meantime the club needs to be stable. He can't comment on the take-over. That's about it. *That's not true - I hope.
Ricky Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 The link did work earlier, seems strange to take it off.

brfcmad1979 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Jesus if we did turn down a £5m bid for Andrews all involved want sacking! I'd have took the day off work and personally driven him to any club stupid enough to bid a fiver for him!
Balwer Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 No way known we turned down a £5m bid for Andrews if we were reportedly shopping the far superior Grella for around £2m. Andrews won't get back into the starting XI when he's fit I'd imagine, not based on our sentiment but other players will have surpassed him in Sam's eyes.
koi Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Just to be clear, I added the Andrews bit hence the footnote. JW did not mention Andrews.

67splitscreen Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Another sugar daddy on the horizon is fine but surely the question is at what cost will his investment be to the club?. If it is similar to Syed's then fine, if it's aka Man U or L/Pool no thanks.
koi Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Oh, and Sam did have serious interest from a Middle East club but he didn't tender his resignation.
Hughesy Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Why has nobody else picked up the fact that due diligence has been complete??? You would have expected at least the LT to pick it up!!
Sparky Marky Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 if it's all kosher why isn't Mr. Syed on telly on sky sports going on about it....?....
rebelmswar Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Why has nobody else picked up the fact that due diligence has been complete??? You would have expected at least the LT to pick it up!! Could this be why they pulled the Mr. Williams interview do you think? And I wonder what area these new bidders are from; it seems that we are really attracting the Asian moneybags. if it's all kosher why isn't Mr. Syed on telly on sky sports going on about it....?.... Its Jhatka not kosher. Perhaps he fears further fan tantrums and reports linking us to Giggs.
Iceman Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 are they allowed to talk to the media again, having signed this NDA stuff?
jodrell Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 if it's all kosher why isn't Mr. Syed on telly on sky sports going on about it....?.... Apparently there is something called a NDA which prevents him from talking to anyone about it..
TimmyJimmy Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 There are plenty of mega rich people in the world. I'd differentiate though between personal disposable net worth and the net worth of a group of companies owned by an individual. A couple of very prominent Indian companies are looking to grow and expand outside of India over the next few years but their acquisitions will probably be as a purchase into their group holdings, in other words we would have to join the queue in the annual budgeting round. With Mr Syed we have a person with CASH and the freedom to do with it as he pleases i.e without asking the board of a conglomerate for permission to listen to investment opportunities (e.g. ad hoc player purchase requests from BRFC). I suspect I know who the other folk are and if the chairman of the group promoter company is looking for a personal investment then that would be very exciting however if it's a corporate purchase then, in my opinion, Mr Syed would be a better fit for us. This is brilliant though isn't it, courted by the super rich and giving us hours of fun contrasting and comparing the various degrees of excellence between them. I'm looking for an ethical owner who has the cash resources and personal freedom to indulge a passion in the Rovers. Game on my friends.

How on earth do you know that?

If Jason is counted as one of our strikers, why not give him a squad number and keep him sweet? The 25-man list didn't have to go in to the Premier League until the day after the transfer window so he could still have been sold. It makes the excuse that we are counting Jason as one of our four strikers, a bit hollow. Plus he STILL doesn't have a squad number - was he even included in the 25-man list? Cut off our nose to spite our face if we are still paying him a full wage - I'm surprised we can afford the moral high ground. Mind you, we aren't fooling anyone by counting El-Hadji Diouf, David Hoillet, and Aaron Doran as "strikers"! EDIT: looks as though I should have read the 25-man squad thread first. But it still seems we've gone about this the wrong way.
Hughesy Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 are they allowed to talk to the media again, having signed this NDA stuff? Surely he can confirm its complete....afterall they have confirmed they are close etc in the last week. Slightly confused by the arguement about number of strikers. Not quite sure what your banging on about...How does it make it hollow?? Does he not earn wage??..we have 4 strikers (1 of which wanted to go & we wanted to replace) - it didnt happen so we didnt sign a 5th....whats rocket science about that? Yes he was given a squad number.
24right Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 With an NDA in place, public comment can only be made with the explicit consent of both parties.
