I think Mr Ali's people will next make public comment if/when he passes the Premier League Fit and Proper Test. Remember that they still have another 9 days exclusivity.

Surely he can confirm its complete....afterall they have confirmed they are close etc in the last week.

Not quite sure what your banging on about...How does it make it hollow?? Does he not earn wage??..we have 4 strikers (1 of which wanted to go & we wanted to replace) - it didnt happen so we didnt sign a 5th....whats rocket science about that? Yes he was given a squad number.

Sorry mate, I realise it's only you who's allowed to "bang on about" stuff. :P

It's hollow because having Roberts as one of our 4 strikers is now being used as an excuse not to buy another striker.

Why axe him from the squad then before he's sold. It doesn't exactly strengthen our argument, does it, and doesn't really enthuse Jase to play for us.

Anyway, this is the wrong thread to debate Roberts and transfer - my fault for that.

(Re: his squad number I've already edited my original post - I guess the clubs website has yet to be updated).

Some people seem to be having sleepless nights over the fact we did not sign a striker (sign a striker who cost a transfer fee that is) - read the Chairman's comments, plus you may not have realised, we are in takeover talks.

Get over it...

How on earth do you know that?

Mr Syed's camp have been quoted many times as stating that the proposed investment was a personal investment. To convince our representatives to proceed with exclusivity/DD he has had to show the requisite cash. This is not a leveraged buyout we are talking about.

As for the other camps, well who knows how they intend to purchase, what I was saying was that if they intend to purchase via a group of companies then, in my opinion, it is sub-optimal compared to Mr Syed's proposed personal investment. If we have another personal cash buyer who has a feeling for the club then happy days.

And have they now applied?

10 day fit & proper test - means his exclusivity will run out....perhaps someone will pip him??

Is that going to be a concern, noone else has entered into due diligence yet, I'd imagine he is at least four weeks if not more ahead of any other bidders.

I have not read the article, but if JW is saying we didn't bring anyone else in because we already had 4 strikers then this is a joke and an insult to the intelligence of the supporters.

In January we had Kalinic, Di Santo and Roberts. Di Santo was always going back to Chelsea, so that left 2 strikers. We weren't forced to sign Mame Diouf or (the injured and useless) Benjani!

I know JW has done a good job and has it must be difficult running a club with no financing, but come on he could at least be honest with the fans who have been sympathetic on the whole with the semmingly endless drain on all transfer receipts. There are not many supporters in the league who would look at the headline figures of players sold / players bought and not complain.

(Apologies if JW has been misquoted.)

I wouldn't think it is a massive problem for them. The deal will essentially be done now if they are going to the PL to gain approval.

Even if there is a new gorup interested it would take them a fairly long time to catch up.

if you take into consideration also, that any new potential bidder, will have to be evaluated 1st, informal talks i presume would happen then, and then all other formalities would have to take place. you look at between 6 and 8 weeks of talks, including DD and doing the Fit and Proper test. Syed is way ahead, and he will know this. Its now up to him to go on and complete the formalities, and buy the club.

From what I can tell he didn't say that if we only had three strikers we would spend X million - he only suggests that if we had 3 he would look to bring in another striker. My guess would be on a free. We have no money and have all but a transfer embargo on the club while the takeover is going on. I don't know how many times the club need to re-iterate the fact we are skint before people start to accept it.

Now that the January window is closed and our members for the most part are now somewhat calmer, maybe it would be good to step back a bit and hope that the board may throttle back a bit about trying to rush anything through.

They should look very very closely at any prospective bidder and see if they are a better bet for the future of the club than the present bid on the table. I am sure that they will do this anyway, but I live in hope that they will do what is best for the club rather than what is best for themselves – be it in time saved or money made.

Apologies if this has been mentioned but I really cant be arsed trawling throught the thread and I'm on my 4th bottle of Tooheys ED premium after a week of nights. Anyway the LT is running a very negative story on Mr Syed confirming that WGA have been prohibited from trading in Bahraine and basically rubishing a lot of what Julia Thiem has been quoted as saying.

Should I be worried?

Nah Mr. Spoon I wouldn't be, as they are the only ones running with it.

If you read both stories then there is not necessarily a reason to worry. The LT's second story merely clarifies the situation after speaking to the Bahraini authorities.

It seems Julia Thiem initially chose to bypass the fact that they have been asked to cease trading. Once the authorities confirmed it though, she admits this but still insists they 'are still operating'.

I would expect the newspaper to report the facts, that is their job, and they did this. I wouldn't expect them to ignore the confirmation from Bahrain. They also again repeated WGA's assertions it was no problem.

When? The club haven't publically said we are skint or that there is a transfer embargo. The only public message this summer was that we had the McCarthy money to spend.

I think if they had come out and said "there won't be any transfers until the takeover" then the fans would've accepted this. Rather than the 4 striker excuse.

Really? Hasn't every media outlet run with that this week? I guess the difference being the LT first of all gave WGA their chance of denial - then got confirmation from authorities trading has been ceased. Don't see how anyone can ignore the facts. Who knows what it all means - might mean nothing, might mean something.

here you go DGS, i just copied what Kamy has posted.

Syed Ali's bid to purchase Blackburn Rovers remains on track despite reports of trade problems that he faces in Bahrain.

Sources close to takeover have revealed to BRFCS that Mr Ali has completed due diligence and in now ready to purchase the club. Sources have indicated that legal procedures relating to the sale are well under way and Mr Ali hopes to complete the deal by the third week of September. Sources have also indicated that Mr Ali is now preparing to undergo the Premier League fit and proper test, no problems are envisaged with regards to this as Rovers own checks are much more rigerous than the Premier League test.

In a separate development, sources have revealed that Rovers representatives held serious talks with a new unnamed bidder this week in London. It is believed that the new bidder has potentially greater financial resources than Mr Ali. BRFCS understands that whilst Mr Ali remains in pole position to purchase Rovers, the trustees want to fully evaluate all bidders before selling the club.

Just the once, then silence. Nothing after the second LT piece.

Nice one Iceman. I saw that before seeing the Telegraph story. I suppose we have to hope that the Trust have ensured that they have identified the correct people to hand the baton on to as opposed to who offer them the best deal. There is now, unfortunately, the faint whiff of dodginess about Mr Syed, deserved or not.

I wonder if the Trust are examining the reported other options or are they going to take the brass and run?

Kamy-would you be able to reveal if the new group are richer than syed or it is a single individual with the wealth?

Cant see the trust backing out now, it would be a massive risk to squeeze a few extra million at this late stage.
