rebelmswar Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Can I just say I am a little confused, here. The revelations were built up as nothing less than shocking, but all I can find so far are allegations of some failed businesses amongst the succesful businesses, a failure to pay some debts, and a very untidy flat. While this behaviour is inexcusable if proven correct, I am struggling to identify what exactly is supposed to shock me to my core? From the lack of interest from the media at large, I think even they were expecting a meatier story - unearthing a background to rival Thaksin Shinawatra, perhaps? I am not defending the alleged behaviour, but it just doesn't seem to warrent the hype FiveLive gave it. Or am I missing something crucial? Tidiness is next to Godliness so he is obviously Satan. I am so happy that 5 Live have found out before we sell our soul to him. The accusations of a peanut butter fetish still remain unanswered.

John Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Well I throw that question right back at ya John, as you've been talking in such sceptical terms about the fellah Not sceptical, just not getting carried away with all the hype.
JoeBlueWhite Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 The story seems to imply that he is not as rich as we are lead to believe. The Bahrain business, the unpaid bills and the messy flat. What Goldberg is not privy to is the mans actual accounts which Rothschilds and Rovers have been. I doubt the deal would be at this stage if they did not stack up. I am in the wait and see camp. Interested to how his slick PR team respond to this. From the complete non reaction from any other newspapers\websites it seems somewhat of a non story. Rovers supporters might need some convincing again though.
philipl Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I became very positive about Ahsan Ali Syed when he said he was not looking for the money he will be putting into Rovers to come back and if he backs that up with actions I remain positive if he passes the intense scrutiny he is undoubtedly now subject to. Where he was living is bang in the middle of the part of London where newly arrived rich people typically move- just by Upper Bekeley Street and close to all the wonderful Lebanese Restaurants on the Edgware Road so nothing unusual about that and hardly a wee flat- one two floors above his is this one- http://www.foxtons.co.uk/rental-property-in-marylebone/chpk3373785 The dates don't make sense- I got the impression he was a student at the LSE in his early to mid 20s. He is 36 now and supposedly left that apartment in 2005. The photographs on that Facebook page are also much more than a touch suspicious: - the fresh flowers and the bank documents as already mentioned by other posters - the artfully skewed pictures on the wall were surely arranged that way for the benefit of the pictures - the immaculately clean white bath over which the trousers are hanging and in which the brush has been placed - the total absence of any damage or marking to any of the decor and furnishings - there is absolutely no dust or crumbs anywhere; if you live with that amount of clutter and paper you would certainly see an accumulation of dirt on the surfaces visible between the papers and on the carpets between the paper shreddings Daft question but are we even sure Adrian Goldberg has got the right Ahsan Ali Syed?
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I must say I enjoyed the bit where you all got giddy about whoring yourselves around to any passing swarthy businessman. But the level of denial now on display, despite it being quite clear to everyone outside 'Blackburn with Darwen' that the guy's a scruffy, Walter Mitty spiv, is even better. This has nothing to do with you or your insignificant little chumpionship club.....crawl back under your stone where you have been hiding since that fine Sunday afternoon in March! So I can put away my noose and plastic bag for awhile? NO!...USE IT ON SAM DINGLE!
brfcshabba Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Daft question but are we even sure Adrian Goldberg has got the right Ahsan Ali Syed? It crossed my mind with the picture of Shaggy. Although if that was the case why couldn't the spokewoman say it was not him, unless she hasn't made contact with him
nicko Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Nicko, will you be running a story on this, or are you also in the wait and see what happens camp? Not bothering. More interested in finding out out who the rival bidder is...and whether he pays his bills... It will be interesting to see the response among the papers who were given the story in the first place - the Telegraph and the Guardian. They would be the ones with most interest in what this all means. I would just love to know how you go from struggling student in 2004 to billionaire in 2010. I could do with some tips.

Have you got anymore info on the rival bidder

I must admit I nearly posted something on that line myself.Given that India has a population of over 1 billion people, surely there will be plenty of people with exactly the same name? as you say the timescale doesn`t add up neither with regards to his age as a student etc. Also in my experience it seems to be the more money rich people have, the more reluctant they seem to be with regards to actually parting with it to pay some pesky bills, usually leaving it as late as possible before actually paying up. We just have to trust that the trustees AND Rothchilds will do their homework thoroughly and then we can keep another generation of Dingles in our shadows.
nicko Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 It crossed my mind with the picture of Shaggy. Although if that was the case why couldn't the spokewoman say it was not him, unless she hasn't made contact with him And why didn't the Syed camp ridicule the story when the BBC [presumably] ran it by them? It would have been very easy to dismiss this is a simple misunderstanding or case of mistake identity. Anyway, it's all good fun. Welcome to the Premier League, Mr Syed.
rebelmswar Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 My link "These photos were taken by the letting agent who rented a flat to Ahsan Ali Syed, the man hoping to takeover Blackburn Rovers. Mr. Ali vacated the flat without notice in 2005, owing £7800 in rent, leaving behind stacks of mail and shredded documents" Almost pissin myself laughing. Sensationalism is reaching new lows. Shredded documents dun dun duuuuuuuun. And why didn't the Syed camp ridicule the story when the BBC [presumably] ran it by them? Cause he cant be arsed? Judging by his housekeeping it might just be too much bother. But who else thinks that looks like some mad landlord running around emptying drawers and pilling up the trash for disposal.
nicko Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Have you got anymore info on the rival bidder Only that the meeting that has taken place involved the people and the middle man referred to last weekend... It seems to be that the people are from India too. I have heard a name, but I won't be naming anyone or anything until I am sure it is him or the group supposedly involved. The people surrounding this are very tight-lipped...which funnily enough is a comfort at times. Not sure if I have mentioned this but the India interest - from three parties at least - could be explained by an anticipated bid for the World Cup in the not-too-distant future. Any Indian millionaire/billionaire who owned a Premier League club could suddenly find himself as a leading figure in that field in a country keen to have the competition down the line.
rog of the rovers Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 On pic 8/10 on facebook Look at the blue envelope The name certainly looks longer than Syed Ali Similarly strange the letter above it has been torn in half (who opens a letter like that) and conveniently leaves the name Ali, nothing else. I went to school with about 10 Ali's and is surely a common name in the subcontinent.
dring1 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Not bothering. More interested in finding out out who the rival bidder is...and whether he pays his bills... Pete1981 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Similarly strange the letter above it has been torn in half (who opens a letter like that) and conveniently leaves the name Ali, I dont know if you have noticed but the letting agent also has Ali in his name so the above letter you are talking about might just belong to him
Mr. E Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I'm getting the feeling that the media are starting to panic that little Blackburn Rovers might just be getting a million or two to spend again in the future. Some people will never be able to swallow the fact that we are still one of the select few to have won the Premiership.
Craigman Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 In the first photo on facebook, can anyone read zoom in to see how much the franked letter cost on top of the pile ?, this would then indicate when the photo was taken.
thenodrog Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 People are entitled to change their opinions, you know. I'm aware this is probably a foreign concept to you, so I doubt you trust it. Exercise caution, reserve judgement and get it right first time and you don't need to change them very often bluebruce. Those who get carried away in a lather of frothy, premature ejaculation hysteria experience frequent disappointment. Mark my words there are only one or two who come on here who know the real situation and they rarely post.... and if they did they'd give absolutely nothing away.
Manchester Blue Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Daft question but are we even sure Adrian Goldberg has got the right Ahsan Ali Syed? Maybe daft but i thought exactly the same thing this morning, i've tried not getting carried away with all the takeover stuff so far and i'll similarly not get too carried away with all this negative stuff until we get the full story.

Mr Syed is the current sponsor for the Bahrain beach games, not in the same league, granted but a start.
John Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I am actually looking forward to the programme tonight, not for the allegations part, but they look into his business career and how he made his wealth.
nicko Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I am actually looking forward to the programme tonight, not for the allegations part, but they look into his business career and how he made his wealth. Now THAT would be far more interesting and relevant.
JoeBlueWhite Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Mark my words there are only one or two who come on here who know the real situation and they rarely post.... and if they did they'd give absolutely nothing away. Is one of them the mystery striker ?

It's like you think you're the only one who approached the original stories with an err of caution.
imy9 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I am actually looking forward to the programme tonight, not the allegations part, but they look into his business career and how he made his wealth. Is there not going to be certain contradiction though, on the one hand he is someone who hasn't got 70k, then they will explore how he has made it?i am looking forward to it.
