I note they picked and chose the comments carefully - ignoring Peter Waring's comment on the facebook page which is a shame as it is the only comment on there making a very good point.

Peter Waring: You never mentioned the builders in ireland and the projects in australia

5 live's reply: Hi Peter -- we did mention them in our first online story from earlier in the week. To our knowledge, the deals have not yet gone through but it's our understanding that McCabe signed a confidentiality agreement and would not confirm either way.

EDIT - sorry, typing too slow again!

So we have a Journo, a Uni lecturer and a landlord - who sould we believe - these 3 or Syed, the Trust & Rothchilds? My money goes one the second group!!

I CANNOT believe the mass hysteria over some so called unpaid rent (NO proof it was him, nothing to back up that the landlord is genuine either)!

I have sent in 4 emails and not has one response and all I have asked to do is look at the alternative perspective including talking to McCabes and the aussies re Cubbie Station who may give an alternative answer. Also I asked them to name the Canadian company which has had success - still no repsonse.

It seems very strange to me that the BBC are alleging Mr. Syed Ali has an outstanding County Court judgement in excess of sixty thousand pounds without being able to provide any information whatsoever as to what it relates to - if they can't say what it relates to - how can they be sure it's the same person?

Ditto the "revelations" about the flat - is it by any means certain we're talking about the same person and is it not remarkably coincidental the landlord is also called Ali?

It is perhaps of more concern that little is seemingly known of Mr. Syed Ali back in India. In my opinion the only thing Rovers fans need concern themselves with are:

1) Is Mr. Ali actually worth the sort of money he says he is?

and

2) Does he have the best interests of the Club at heart?.

Only the Board and Trustees will be able to make a call on 2) based upon meeting Mr. Ali and his team face to face.

I have always based my views on the proposed takeover on the assumption that because he had been granted a period of exclusivity Rothschilds had verified his financial status. If they haven't it would be nothing short of astonishing.

I note the financial guy on the radio programme omitted to mention there has supposedly been a one billion pound loan to Mr. Syed's Company. He was questioning how the Company could go from 11m to 92m profit in one year but if this one billion pound loan actually exists, then presumably it wouldn't be nearly as far fetched as he was trying to make out.

The BBC are all mouth and no trousers. If they had some serious dirt to dish on Syed, the rags would have beaten them to it.

For me though it comes down to this. Has Syed (or any other potential new owner) got the cash to but out Rovers and invest in the team/club for its long term stability. Whoever that is gets my support. Don't care about any unpaid bills, dodgy pasts, what they get up to in their own house etc. Run a business myself in the past, come across enough good business people who have done something a bit dodgy in the past, doesn't stop them being good at what they do.

That's a glib way of looking at it. Even if Syed does have the cash, it doesn't guarantee he will pump it into Rovers.

Something stinks, problem is I can't actually locate the source of the smell. BBC? Mr Ali? Rothschilds?

Que the music......

There are more questions than answers!

I agree - BBC are as negatively slick as Ali Syed is represented positively.

The club and associated partners are conspicuous by thier silence.

Meanwhile the media who are normally all over dirt have still got NO interest at all.

Very confusing.

I said the same myself, but the fact he's not even known in his home town, and his company employed 9 people and made a few thousand, he increased the staff to 11 people and it made 92 million!

A lot of people believe that to be the case Rev, based on assumption. Truth is we don't know that. It could well be that the Trustees and Rothschild's are doing this as part of the due diligence.

Nothing to get worked up about here. If he hasn't got the cash, he wont get the club.

Not fit for Rovers until the 'allegations etc' have been answered.

Like or dislike the BBC, Biased or unbiased to Rovers, in the light of its history it will firstly look at programes that are going on air. If there was NO SUBSTANCE at all in what has been reported, they would not air it. Something to think about. Especially as this is their first programe.

This is problem. Goldberg is an idiot, I've never heard a balanced report from the guy and he loves being provocative.

By the way, would the French guy get involved with something that wasn't genuine?

What mistruths have the unveiled?

Syed has been on the seen now for around two months and the best dirt anyone in the media is debts of less than £80,000 and what appears to amount to a few unpaid parking tickets.

Their report into WGA doesn't really bother me as Ali's side have already stated many times that he wouldn't be buying the club through the company, but rather from his own personal fortune.

If he can prove to the Trust that he actually has the cash then what's the problem?

I suggest that 5live investigate how this show got commissioned as it was the biggest load of crap I've listened to in a long time....how many actual Rovers fans had their comments read out?

Surely the first one is bound by the NDA???

The second - well it kinds of answers itself surely? They find dirt if its there, but you cant dig something that isnt there other than plant & create it (Possibility with the flat??)

I said the same myself, but the fact he's not even known in his home town, and his company employed 9 people and made a few thousand, he increased the staff to 11 people and it made 92 million!

They use thousands of consultants if he is too be believed. Lets not forget one of his major players was the French bloke - dont suppose he comes cheap if he was skint???
