[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

Been doing some frantic calling round tonight to check a couple of things...trouble is too many people are in different time zones...and that includes people in rival camps.

There could be a definitive result here quite soon. That time-scale tip is originally from someone who is in the know on this one - and who I won't 'out' as a mark of respect.

It would help if the Syed people put the BBC accusations to bed though. Like specifically saying what the £61,500 debt was all about.

IF Syed gets the go-ahead he wouldn't want those kind of bad smells hanging around. It would get that regime off to a bad start.

Getting a sore head with this one. Too many questions on too many fronts and not enough answers.

Mr. Nixon is the person that you have heard this from close to the camp?

I cannot get over the fact that a whole program was devoted to a dirty flat and a small amount of money. There must be some truth to it, one would imagine, or the problems that the BBC would get would not be worth it.

Strange indeed. Could the lack of information you are getting show that all of this is a burgundy cod?

This thread is like a news weathervane - swings around with the current direction.

Precisely, one is maintained by hot air. The other displays the wind direction.

Lots of 'yeah, but no, but yeah, but no'.

I'm sure that the Syed team will be currently working on their rebuttal. Their PR team has been particularly efficient in the past and I fully expect a well thought out response. Should make for good reading. Let's see how this one plays out and neither condemn the man or put him on an unquestionable pedestal.

Good things come to those who wait....

No the doubters on here, such as myself, want clarification before supportinging or not Syed's bid to takeover Rovers. They want what is best for the club, like everybody else. At this moment in time Syed claims to have got his money from land / farming in India. What is it, 900 acres. But NOBODY has heard about a man or a family in that area owning 900 acres of farm land, called Syed. Is there a land registory over there? If so 900 acres of land would have a name of the owner against it. Question for the maths experts on here, but how many football pitchs is 900 acres. Can Syed claify just this area - then we will get onto the money part. Can you really make billions from 900 acres farming in India - by farming it?

It is not a case of people will have to backslide if the takeover goes through. It is a case that some are a bit more cautious and dilligent than others.

Do you also think that Obama is a Muslim?

The East India Company was once worth quite a bit, if my history lessons are being remembered correctly.

As I said earlier the Indian land registry was similar to Thailand's it was only brought up to date in recent years, prior to that only transactions were registered.

Well, at least i have remained positive. I said on numerous occasions, that we 1st have to hear Syed's side of the story. It has just been Goldberg, Goldberg, and more Goldberg

Something to consider. If Syed considered the questions simple ones to answer. Why leave it for 24 hours later to 'consider' answering them. They still have not answered, apart from, a statement will be given. Why not just answer them NOW. Simple questions only need simple answers. Or does he need time to, 'put something together'. I am not saying this is the reason for the delay in answering, just a thought I have in my mind.

Dont quite know why people in the "cautious and dilligant" camp seem to be sitting on some sort of moral high hourse.

Frankly how he made his money and if he wins control of rovers has no more to do with you than the people that are in the "wreckless abandon" camp that support the takeover.

Seriously, I understand the debate on the subject but some people are getting way to caught up in it and are getting quite snappy.

I dearly hope that the Syed camp blow away the allegations/rumours bought up by the supposed BBC "report", and if they don't then let's hope the Trust are savvy enough to tell Mr.Syed thanks but no thanks.

Interested to hear that the supposed Premier League fit and proper tests now ask the question about financing a club for the coming season, makes you wonder what they bothered to ask in the last draft.........

Do you also think that Obama is a Muslim? I don't know, as I haven't had the opportunity to ask him But there again, he hasn't expressed any interest in buying Rovers, so I do not have any interest in knowing anything about him.

The East India Company was once worth quite a bit, if my history lessons are being remembered correctly.

Yes it WAS, but did it not also go bust or was broken up. Also it was English, and involved other countries as well. A lot of people in this country made a lot of dosh out of it, hence the mansion estates in the past and today.

Just googled this and found nothing - looks like they don't exist.

I feel cheated.

It's that Bryan, he makes things up.

Anyway, it looks like we might be back on track for this £300m worth of free money, a 45,000 seater stadium and David Beckham. There might be some more sceptics knocking around following last nights NewsRound report, it's just a good job it doesn't all sound too good to be true.

Nothing just disapears.

I just don’t understand the whole deal with the 900 acres, this will soon be as touted as a 100 acres and a mule.

I am sure your run of the mill Indian farmer doesn’t have any more idea who owns the land he works as your common apartment dweller knows who owns the building he lives in. 900 acres anyway - that’s not very much. In a land the size of India, making a fortune on 900 acres let out (to farm no less!!) is about as realistic as a mouse climbing up an elephant’s leg with rape on his mind.

As i said on numerous occasions, its a legal situation now. The beeb have put forward these allegations, and Syed would now have to defend himself. It would be daft of him, to just jump in and deny it. He will get all his facts in order, and will use that to dismiss the allegations.

Are we or Nicko any nearer to learning who the third mystery Indian bidders are ? Thought you'd have cracked it by now Nicko !!!

Working overtime on that, but tight lips all round.

I do find it interesting that the local paper picked up the rival bidders line and got approval to keep pumping the line.

The bottom line here is whether the Trust are happy with the cash Syed is showing...

If they are there will be a deal.

However the club is also quite happy to keep other bidders in the game.

Like so many things in football it will come down to money.

But if Syed is successful he needs to nail the issues raised by the BBC as soon as.

The papers have largely ignored it so far, but if he turnes out to be the next owner he better have his house in order.

By the way, the Premier League 'test' is not the most thorough. They have tighetened things up a bit since Portsmouth, but I would not have any faith in them finding their backsides in the dark even now.

Kamy wrote:A big coupe for this site that they decided to release this statement to us before any other media outlet. This is just the start they are VERY confident that they can refute every inaccuracy with evidence to the contary.

Kamy forgive me I am a bit confused they say they can refute every inaccuracy with evidence to the contrary does that mean he does owe money but the figures have been sensationalised or that he has never owed money it is not intended to cause offence just need clarity also Kamy any idea when they are likely to come back with answers to the allegations? Thanks as ever for your input.

Nothing is too good to be true. Remember Jack Walker?

I remember him. God bless him. Came into the club, didn't say a word, just bought it quietly, with no fuss. Didn't say how much he was going to spend. Didn't say that he was buying players for Rovers before he even bought the club! Didn't say who we were going to (try and) sign. Didn't mention who he wanted as manager until it was the day of the Plymouth match and it was all done and dusted. Jack Walker from Walkersteel. Rovers fan for many a year. Done his dough. Different class.

I appreciate that that's quite a long time ago now in the scheme of things. Times do change. Fingers crossed. Not much else I can do.
