RovertheHill Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Indeed. A lot of people onhere will have some serious back sliding to do if the takeover does go through. And a whole lot more will if it doesn't. Some people seem so desperate that they are defending somebody they hadn't heard of 3 weeks ago and regardless of the expertise they post with, they know absolutely nothing about this gentleman or his company. Some of us are simply urging caution and a level of diligence whilst this runs its course, and are actually worried about the club passing to safe hands. Mr Syed needs to respond to these allegations and pass the appropriate Rovers and PL tests to convince us. I don't see that as unreasonable. Nothing more, nothing less.

Oh I'm not sure about that RTH. Lots of folk have said they want him in as long as things are right. The opposite camp have written him off since last night - before hearing both sides.
BuckyRover Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 The trust are going through due diligence. I assume they will be operating with a level of caution.

Hughesy Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Are we or Nicko any nearer to learning who the third mystery Indian bidders are ? Thought you'd have cracked it by now Nicko !!! Think some have a good idea. Working overtime on that, but tight lips all round. However the club is also quite happy to keep other bidders in the game. Like so many things in football it will come down to money. Hearing about the rival bidder - it could quite easily turn into a bidding war....Do you actually know the sum the Trust are asking for personally? Or is that increasing every day?
Balwer Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Why do we necessarily want a bidding war? It's not like Rovers would receive any of the increased sale funds. We want whoever is going to be the most beneficial to the club, that's not the same thing as who is willing to pay the most.
Parsonblue Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 One possible discrepancy I've noticed, which no-one seems to have picked up on is that originally it was claimed his family wealth had been built up over the last 150 years through the East India Company (whatever that is) More recently however its been stated the family fortune was built up through having 900 acres of (farming?) land which sounds less feasible and the confusion sort of ties in with no-one seemingly having heard of him or his families exploits. I don't know if this is pertinent and look forward to hearing the detailed rebuttal from the Ali Syed camp. I must admit that the reference to the East India Company is somewhat interesting and puzzling. The Company, was once a source of power and influence in that part of the world but was dissolved in 1874 and then owned by the British Treasury until 1974. A group of private individuals revived it at that point to sell tea and coffee but from what I can gather from the internet this was only a small concern using a famous name. It was then sold to Sanjev Mehta, a diamond dealer, in 2005. There are, supposedly, stacks of records about this company held at the British Library. I would assume that it would be easy enough to check records of land ownership in India to see exactly what Mr. Syed's family own. I'm still no nearer in understanding if the family wealth came from farming or from its links to a company that was dissolved some 136 years ago.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I'm just wondering if no bid is made by Syed once due diligence has been completed, would Rovers let a rival bidder go into due dilligence straight away (to get into pole position) or would the club delay this if they feel a bid will be made by Syed within a few days rather than risk Syed going elsewhere?
nicko Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Think some have a good idea. Hearing about the rival bidder - it could quite easily turn into a bidding war....Do you actually know the sum the Trust are asking for personally? Or is that increasing every day? I know some have a good name...but nobody is sure it is right...and this isn't the time to be going off at tangents...interesting as they may be. I don't think there is a bidding war as such, but the fact that two bidders [at least] are in the chase means there really should be a deal this time. However agreeing a deal and living happily ever after needs both money and a lot of questions being answered.
Brownie Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Working overtime on that, but tight lips all round Does that mean you know who they are but can't say or you're struggling in getting the tip off from Kamy confirmed ?
nicko Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Does that mean you know who they are but can't say or you're struggling in getting the tip off from Kamy confirmed ? Been chasing a name for three days and there seem to be connections to the agent who is brokering the 'rival' deal...but not enough info to write it.
Mc Love Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Wow some tornado this thread has been since I have last been on!
MikeB Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Guys, I don't want to say that I told you so, however, have maintained all along that I believed Ali was the real deal, the deal IS DONE, the Riverside development will begin in May and all the Goldberg 'issues' are chicken sh-t! If I have concerns, they really are over Shah who is an absolute total f----n mystery!
Brownie Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Been chasing a name for three days and there seem to be connections to the agent who is brokering the 'rival' deal...but not enough info to write it. Can you rule out the mumbani brothers as being your name ?
nicko Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Can you rule out the mumbani brothers as being your name ? I can rule out the Sutherland Brothers...
MikeB Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Guys, a pal of mine who works for a top firm of London solicitors has just heard that the Beeb & Goldberg are now wearing brown trousers. Someone is really piling the pressure on. There seem to be a few wobbles and it aint Ali!
RovertheHill Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I can rule out the Sutherland Brothers... Doobie Brothers

1864roverite Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Nothing new to add to what has been said. Nice to see Kamy got the scoop with the initial denial. I still believe from what has been said the deal is "on" despite a second rival showing a big interest and think that tomorrow may just see a proper response from WGA. BTW, on here there is a source link to hotels in the vicinity. Can that source do a check on room allocation at a nice hotel betweem Blackburn and Accy, I believe its popular for weddings, you never know who might be in town
67splitscreen Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 That hotel has been on lock down all day.
Ste B Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 From looking on the 5 live facebook page, it seems that theres a couple of people with grudges against MrAli. I dont know the accuracy of any of these claims, but at least i'm encouraged by the stance currently being taken by his team.

MikeB Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 That hotel has been on lock down all day. What do you mean by 'lock down' - I enjoyed a butty and a pint at the 'Dunk' @ lunchtime!
