Moppy Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 If the NDA period hasn't ended yet, how can the club be making a statement about the Syed deal? I believe for one party to make a statement they need the agreement of the other. Even if it's a joint statement they would need to agree what can be disclosed and what can not before hand.

Bobby G Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 That goes without saying. An NDA prohibits each party unilaterally disclosing anything. If they both decide to release any information, then that's a different case.
67splitscreen Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Press release ???? the birds (twitter) aren't singing about it. Not like them, I'm sure they are in communication with the club at least twice a day.
chilly Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I can guarantee there will be no statement today... Oh and mikeB its becoming more and more obvious that your 'inside info' comes from inside your pocket
Bobby G Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 You could very well be right, but nicko did say something about a statement too.
Guest Kamy100 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 CryerRovers @Northern_Rover There is no planned statement from the club today. I think we are all waiting for mr Ali's response.
rebelmswar Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 CryerRovers @Northern_Rover There is no planned statement from the club today. I think we are all waiting for mr Ali's response. Kamy do you know how long it will take for them to say "That’s not true and here is why"? The press are lined up with bibs drooling holding the knives and forks, Rovers fans are on a suicide watch, and Burnley fans are clustered around their transistor radios. Dark days in sunny lands.
Guest Kamy100 Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I would have thought that a statement would have been out by now. It could have course be that they are taking legal action against the BBC, which would mean that any public statement would be delayed by that process. Or it could be that they are making sure that they release a proper statement, which addresses all the issues and is backed up by evidence which contridicts what the BBC said, so this could be taking time to formulate.

Whats you feeling on all this, good deal for rovers or not. what about the other interested party, any developments there?
Hasta Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I accept that the next few days and weeks are some of the most important for the club since it was formed. However there is that much rumour and speculation surrounding this that I don't have the inclination to persevere trying to keep up. I check this thread every few days and read the last few pages to get the general mood of the place but with regards to the takeover I'm just waiting for official news. Otherwise it will drive me nuts !
philipl Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 CryerRovers @Northern_Rover There is no planned statement from the club today. I think we are all waiting for mr Ali's response. Not good for blood pressure but this is excellent news! The Trustees are in a position of power they could only dream of just eight weeks go- in fact this is better than their dreams probably: - Saurin Shah has apparently got the cash together and can meet all their terms and conditions - Multibillionaire number 1 has gone very public, committed £300m, then got himself in a problem with a newly BBC investigative journo and sees his global reputation and dreams tied up totally with how he now handles the Rovers plus has a ticking clock against him with his exclusive expiring this coming Monday - Multibillionaire number 2 © Nicko is still very much on the scene and talking - 3 Ozzies are rumoured to be hanging around as well The extended silence tells me the Trust know they are in an enviable position and are not making any rash decisions. Hopefully they are playing a brilliant game of hard ball on behalf of the Rovers and Uncle Jack. Rumours of close to breakdown situations are probably good news not bad. As for issuing a refutation, there is next to nobody running with Goldberg's story so it could just be left to die a death- there is no urgency to respond from a PR stand point. The moral issues are another matter altogether but they are only our business if Ali Syed prevails as our new owner.

ALthough I don't have the will power to stop checking every hour or two but it's driving me mad.

I hadnt really considered this from the trusts standpoint, but I see exactly what you mean. No news is good news on this occasion - it is just bloody stopping me from working as I keep checking this site!

Probably true, why make a full statement, if your not sure you will be the new owner, if he fails the alleged debts will be of no interest to his future business investments, anyone raising the points are likely to be pacified by the 300m he invest in there debt ridden business. It's not like they will have a couple of thousand supporters, asking why, but, if, and who's your mum.

rebelmswar Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Just like Mike Ashley. I have never heard a bigger insult on this board. Shameful.

Everything the BBC reported will have been run via their legal department prior to the programme being aired, and you would presume all evidence will have been discussed to substanciate the claims. I may be wrong of course but I would be very surprised if the BBC have made these claims without being 100% confident they can back them up. All this talk of legal action and the BBC now back tracking, I think, is wide of the mark. I'm undecided about the whole thing but certainly have faith that the Trust will get us the right deal in the end. Never a dull moment though!

Who will they sell to? - The buyer(s) who can fork out the most money? - The most suitable buyer according to Jack's will Best deal for the fans is if the club is sold as cheaply as possible with more money being invested into the club as a result. With so many buyers interested at the same time could it be that there will now be an auction in order to take control, ultimately leading to less investement?

You may be correct, however there are plenty of instances of the BBC getting into trouble over claims they have made, this would not be a precedent
JWP Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 I can guarantee there will be no statement today... Oh and mikeB its becoming more and more obvious that your 'inside info' comes from inside your pocket Chilly how can you guarantee that. In fairness to MikeB, Nicko also came out with the same possibility pretty quickly after. As I understand thinhs, this is a fluid position and things can change fast so I think anything could be announced at any time.
