[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Well he screwed up didn't he? Cos that was the turning point for this fan. My gut reaction was this blokes just another gob @#/?. It still is too.

For someone who claims to be a whizz investor chucking 300m away on BRFC is simple stupidity. If it was that easy the current owners wouldn't be selling would they? Or has that thought not occurred to anyone?

I'm not sure I'd describe him as that though I very much agree with your overall sentiment. Weeks ago I was posting questions asking "Why?" only to be repeatedly told this was a negative view, that I should tow the happy clappy line and what was my, better, alternative plan - which for obvious reasons I don't have. I don't mind Syed putting £300m or whatever into the club, I do wish people would stop calling it an investment though. No one is going to make money from this cash input and this, for me, simply underlines the justification for asking why.

If Syed is successful he will have a struggle to convince this fan he is the right owner for the club. Initially I was quite happy to take it all at face value though remaining sceptical because of the why question. A few weeks later we have so may questions which remain unanswered all of which have been brought about by WGA and their extremely poor handling of this negotiation. The company appears to have no substance, the published brochures / accounting reports are close to laughable, the PR is grim, the owner may or may not have cash ( I don't know), his companies may or may not exist and Syed seems unable to resist making statements which anyone who knows a little about Blackburn, the town, and the PL in general knows are divorced from reality.

I believe in the Trust and hope they make the right decision. After all that has been said the past few weeks I shall still have a doubt even if the Trust feel he is right for our club. I still want to know "why" and who this person is.

Aside from Rovers fans, no one really cares about this story – there appears to be a belief the national media are having sleepless nights over this, trust me, they are not.

Most people I have spoken with have just laughed when they read the stories on this - signing Beckham, £100 million transfer budgets etc etc

If I had 9 billion I'd happily chuck 300M at Rovers and wouldn't miss it. Its all relative isn't it? I wouldn't waste hundreds of millions on huge yachts but Abramavic has 3! No knowing what some people will do.

I hoped we'd found one loaded enough not to count the cost, I still do.

So you don't believe in the Trust after all? Make your mind up.

Completely agree...some people are wasting far too much time on this like little sherlock holmes...basically coming up with nothing and then trying to lord it over the rest of the messageboard with this "you'll just have to wait and see...i can't comment.."...That's because you don't know anything Kamy. Whoever you're in contact with in the "Syed camp" is probably some mush up Whalley Range in his back bedroom.

So you don't believe in the Trust after all? Make your mind up.

I realise you have a problem with anything I say so let me make it very clear for you. I believe the Trust have the best interests of the club in mind. It is very clear and has been so for 2-3 years the Trust thinks the club is best served by being sold. If the Trust sell to Syed I'm confident they believe it is right to do so. However the antics of this individual over the last few weeks and the weaknesses demonstrated by the published information available leave me doubting, regardless of the Trust's view, if he is the right man for Blackburn Rovers. Little in the public domain suggests he is right for Rovers, if the Trust sell, I feel Syed has a responsibility to demonstrate to the fans he deserves our support. This is why I will still have a doubt.

I don't jump up and down with excitment because someone claims he is going to do something. I'm waiting till I see the proof on the pitch.

Harsh in the extreme - without the inputs of some key players on this board, it wouldn't be worth bothering with.

Absolutely fed up with all this nonsense now. Had it up to the back teeth.

Making public pronouncements about what you're going to do with the club, blah, blah was a massive mistake. Now the whole thing's being drawn out and the confidence and support of the fans is ebbing away as we still don't have a statement from WGA rubbishing the BBC's allegations.

Personally, my suspicions have been aroused by what's come out in public, and I would guess the whole thing's dead in the water. Would prefer teh interminable water torture of new blackout to be over and to know for sure though. Agony.

Kamy has had numerous discussions with Julia Thiem, WGA's representative. In some cases he's been the first recepient of breaking information and the site has benefitted from that. He's been open about who his contact is, however has obviously had several off-the-record conversations as well so he wouldn't break confidentiality.

Some people like to watch others on here fail, and contribute only snide remarks rather than anything constructive or positive.

Complete nonsense, Kamy knows things he isn't at complete liberty to share on an Internet messageboard. The wait and see advice is because he is following their request to keep quiet for the time being.

Don't be so bitter

Wind your neck in Sparky... Kamy doesn't warrant that tirade for trying to keep us informed

Now the whole thing's being drawn out

He was granted a 4 week exclusivity period. In all likeleness it was always going to take the full 4 weeks. which expires today. Seriously folks, have a bit of patience. It really doesnt make a difference if a takeover goes through today or in November. As long as one happens.

You are entitled to your opinion and while I disagree with what you are saying I will respect it. However, the fact that I am posting direct quotes from Julia Thiem should tell you I am not BS'ing. My only motivation is to keep people on here informed. To do this I have to keep confidences. I get told stuff off the record, anything on the record I post on here.

I don't know what I have done to upset you, if my posts keep annoying you, I suggest you use the ignore function.

Got it from inside the club that things were frantic today, can't go into detail but very significant work was 'demanded' today and had to be done today

Can confirm specific work was requested & pulled together yesterday...however it was nothing more than the normal stuff they are requested to do. Nothing more frantic than normal either.

To change tack, can anyone shed any light on how WGA supposedly made 92m US dollars in "advisory fees" last year as alleged in their accounts?

Advising money men what to do with their money? Dont they asset manage for Royal families and stuff like that?

I hope not, that would pose more questions than answers

Depends on the outcome, and who was doing the real bidding.

I can think of one particular bidder that I would like to take on the Rovers.

Yes, he is Australian, and yes, he has been in the news for wanting to buy into an English club.

Well Ali Syed is a genius of a con merchant/ front man if that is what he is.

Even if it only started two weeks ago when Goldberg first surfaced (and I am sure he was thoroughly checked out before the exclusive was granted), he has survived everything that Rothschilds and the Trust can do by way of investigation.

Add to that BDO as auditors, PwC as advisers/consultants, Allen & Overy as his lawyers and now Citigate Dewe Rogerson as PR.

Everyone of those companies has now hitched their credibility to the Ali Syed bandwagon and everyone of them could have got off the case if their diggings had supported the Goldberg findings. All those companies have rigorous "know your client" procedures and checks which they undertake before they accept anybody as their client.

Hmmm, possibly Hughesy, though the term 'Madhouse' was used to me.
