Well Ali Syed is a genius of a con merchant/ front man if that is what he is.

Even if it only started two weeks ago when Goldberg first surfaced (and I am sure he was thoroughly checked out before the exclusive was granted), he has survived everything that Rothschilds and the Trust can do by way of investigation.

Add to that BDO as auditors, PwC as advisers/consultants, Allen & Overy as his lawyers and now Citigate Dewe Rogerson as PR.

Everyone of those companies has now hitched their credibility to the Ali Syed bandwagon and everyone of them could have got off the case if their diggings had supported the Goldberg findings.

I'm really playing the devils advocate here:

Only if he is the frontman for some behind the wall bidder. One with money that can produce the moulah.

My own opinion is that if this falls flat, Rothchilds will look a bit ordinary, to say the least.

philip, was thinking the exact same thing. the names mentioned as part of his team, are really high profile names. unless he is as you say, a really good conman, or perhaps he is the real deal. the fact is, that to get those names, you have to have the money to be abe to afford their services.

What would be the point of that though?

Anyone who genuinely has the funds to buy us will be able to do so without the need for smoke and mirrors. They're not exactly queuing round the block to purchase us from the Trust.

If Syed is successful he will have a struggle to convince this fan he is the right owner for the club. Initially I was quite happy to take it all at face value though remaining sceptical because of the why question. A few weeks later we have so may questions which remain unanswered all of which have been brought about by WGA and their extremely poor handling of this negotiation. The company appears to have no substance, the published brochures / accounting reports are close to laughable, the PR is grim, the owner may or may not have cash ( I don't know), his companies may or may not exist and Syed seems unable to resist making statements which anyone who knows a little about Blackburn, the town, and the PL in general knows are divorced from reality.

I believe in the Trust and hope they make the right decision. After all that has been said the past few weeks I shall still have a doubt even if the Trust feel he is right for our club. I still want to know "why" and who this person is.

I would take a guess Paul, that not one of the people on here, who want this deal to go through, don't have some kind of reservations. Wiggy and TGM have made points about the lack of visibility of Syed, others have rightly pointed to the absence of any rebuttal of the Goldberg stories, wonder where his businesses actually are, have doubts as to the real reasons behind him wanting to take over the club. What I don't accept is that these doubts or worries, are in any way good evidence he is a fraud. He might be, but then again he might not be. I do think though, that seeing he's still in there talking to the trustees shows that they haven't written him off, even after all this time and all these allegations.

I'll make up my mind, if and when the trustees sell to him - and I've heard his plans for the club. We have to see what he has to say before we write him off. I assume he hasn't had that opportunity yet because of the NDA.

There are people who do business this way.

It doesn't push the price up.

They want to remain a dignified silence, whilst the hack work is finalised and then they tell the world.

I wonder if any of them have been paid for their service yet.

If what you say is true, (which would confirm syed as a credible business man) then why are you now only 60% confident, a deal will go through?

Completely agree...some people are wasting far too much time on this like little sherlock holmes...basically coming up with nothing and then trying to lord it over the rest of the messageboard with this "you'll just have to wait and see...i can't comment.."...That's because you don't know anything Kamy. Whoever you're in contact with in the "Syed camp" is probably some mush up Whalley Range in his back bedroom.

I do not understand why you keep having ago at Kamy. Others on here have spoken out in agreement at what he has found out from simular sources. Nobody is lording it over anybody else, some people now things and others do not. They have chosen to share what they have heard. This is nothing to be jealous about, just to be grateful for.

As phillip said, grade A companies like these would not just go and work for some chancer and provide a line of credit!

KAMY, when do you think you will be able to go public with what you have been told?

I agree with all of this and like you I'm going to make my mind up when I have heard the plans and when I see players on the pitch. One thing I want to be absolutely clear is I am not saying this man is a fraud. I'm worried about the complete lack of evidence that he has the cash, because all the supporting evidence is circumstancial, but I don't think he is a fraud. My problem is all the evidence I can read for myself does not persuade me Syed is right for the club.

You raise some valid points but if Syed was fronting a blind, would he suggest he was funding the bid from his own pocket and not WGA. he also would not be eligible to apply for the PL F & P test. which i suppose is a contradiction in it's self, depending at which stage the blind is turned.

Grasping at straws here but maybe. just maybe, this might be part of the reason behind the long silence from Syed's camp?

If he has had to convince all of his creditors that he is "good for it" since the BBC's revelations, then I don't think that his camp would have a lot of time to release statements to the the press regarding his proposed takeover if they are carrying out evasive action in the background to keep the deal above water.

Thought you were someone else for a moment.

Are you sure you didnt lend Syed 90,000?

Was it not 900,000?

That's fair enough Paul. :)

I am hoping that this does turn out to be a good deal for everyone, because I worry about the future under the trustees - unless they change their stance.

I realise you have a problem with anything I say so let me make it very clear for you. I believe the Trust have the best interests of the club in mind. It is very clear and has been so for 2-3 years the Trust thinks the club is best served by being sold. If the Trust sell to Syed I'm confident they believe it is right to do so. However the antics of this individual over the last few weeks and the weaknesses demonstrated by the published information available leave me doubting, regardless of the Trust's view, if he is the right man for Blackburn Rovers. Little in the public domain suggests he is right for Rovers, if the Trust sell, I feel Syed has a responsibility to demonstrate to the fans he deserves our support. This is why I will still have a doubt.

I don't jump up and down with excitment because someone claims he is going to do something. I'm waiting till I see the proof on the pitch.

No point in attacking me--there is an inherent contradiction in what you said and you've just repeated it. I merely asked you to explain why you trusted the Trust but would have doubts if they sold the club to Syed. Doesn't make sense.

I can understand Paul's position.

At the moment all the bid is, at the present, conjecture. There are no guarantees no suggestion as to how Jack's wishes will be carried out ( I say that because it has been intimated that they were written into the trust deed).

Until we know what the future is, then we've got what we've got and have to put up with it.

I'm not attacking you. I do though find it perplexing you chose to take issue with every thing I say. Let me say it again. I believe the Trust will act in the best interests of the club. However, despite this, and because of the information, or lack of it in some areas, surrounding Syed I will retain my doubts until I see the proof demonstrated to the fans. The Trust are receiving far better information than us, the details we have seen are very sketchy and the information published by WGA so laughably poor that I retain a doubt. I really don't understand how I can make it any clearer. If you read den's recent posts he is saying the same thing. I suspect a lot of people have the same view. I don't follow blindly I make up my own mind based on the available evidence. The Trust selling to Syed will go a long way, but he has promised a great deal and will have to prove he means it to those, thousands of us, who have not been privy to the negotiations. The Trust, once the sale has been made, will not tell us any of this.

Yesterday, I confess it was a fear that mud flying in Ali Syed's direction was for real combined with knowing that the Australians the News of the World had talked about, the Indian billionaire Nicko talked about in the People, Saurin Shah's bid plus yet another "dark star" bidder were all solid so the Trust could safely walk away from Ali Syed and still sell the Rovers well.

Today my fears about Ali Syed have pretty well been allayed but something is pointing towards one (perhaps more than one) competing bidder being much stronger and more advanced (and I don't know which) possibly to be competitive against the things Ali Syed has been promising publicly.

Now it is down to negotiating skill, timing and who really wants to be the new owner of Blackburn Rovers the most. Ali Syed still remains better than evens favourite to be the new owner.

Philipl, I know there is such a thing as "sitting on the fence", but this is a bit much.

You've now got your legs spread over five fences

With respect, that doesn't answer the point at all. All we've ever known for a fact is that Syed wants to buy the club, has a bid in and was granted due diligence. Just about everything else is conjecture which has taken up thousands of posts.

The point I'm making is that if you say you trust the Trust to make the right decision then that should apply equally whether it accepts the bid or rejects it. Otherwise you're saying 'I trust the Trust so long as it makes the decision I want".
