[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Yesterday, I confess it was a fear that mud flying in Ali Syed's direction was for real combined with knowing that the Australians the News of the World had talked about, the Indian billionaire Nicko talked about in the People, Saurin Shah's bid plus yet another "dark star" bidder were all solid so the Trust could safely walk away from Ali Syed and still sell the Rovers well.

Have I missed something ? I've only heard/read about Syed/Shah/Aussies/more Indians?

With respect, that doesn't answer the point at all. All we've ever known for a fact is that Syed wants to buy the club, has a bid in and was granted due diligence. Just about everything else is conjecture which has taken up thousands of posts.

The point I'm making is that if you say you trust the Trust to make the right decision then that should apply equally whether it accepts the bid or rejects it. Otherwise you're saying 'I trust the Trust so long as it makes the decision I want".

We must accept whatever the Trust does. We have no say in what they do.

However, they must follow the instructions given in the trust deed. To do otherwise would leave them open to action.

The pain must be excruciatingly indescribable. :o

Add to that, the sand from a Maltese beach in the speedos. :o

At no point in this thread have I joined in the conjecture. When the bid became known I expressed my concerns and listed the questions I'd like to see answered. I saw / see no point in joining the endless debate which as you rightly say is all conjecture based on the flimsiest of evidence. I have tried to respond only based on what is known fact, Syed's own words, his PRO's words, WGA published accounts. You will find no reference from me to any of the BBC stuff, Facebook etc other than one post I made saying people at my work think Rovers are being bought by a bloke who leaves a trail of debt everywhere.

Of course if one places confidence in the Trust it has to be regardless of the decision they make. Nowhere have I said diffently. However believing the trustees will make the correct decision based on all the evidence available to them does not mean one cannot have reservations / doubts about whether or not they made the right decision and wait to see it demonstrated. We will never know what evidence has been presented to the Trust so Syed, or any other purchaser, will still have to prove the intentions are honourable.

Today my fears about Ali Syed have pretty well been allayed but something is pointing towards one (perhaps more than one) competing bidder being much stronger and more advanced (and I don't know which) possibly to be competitive against the things Ali Syed has been promising publicly.

Now it is down to negotiating skill, timing and who really wants to be the new owner of Blackburn Rovers the most. Ali Syed still remains better than evens favourite to be the new owner.

This could well be the reason for the delay. Maybe the trust have seen all the bids, options,

done their checks etc and are now deciding who to sell TO. This could explain the silence from Syed. Why speak if a statement could maybe, muddy the waters more.

Nicko did suggest about a bid from some Australians that was be 'encouraged'. Maybe the truat are 'wanting' to sell to them, but are seeing if there is a better offer on the table.

Philipl, I know there is such a thing as "sitting on the fence", but this is a bit much.

You've now got your legs spread over five fences

Have a heart, posting descriptions like that, todays Friday or poets (p@ss off early tomorrows saturday) day. Puts you off friday night out.

I'm not attacking you. I do though find it perplexing you chose to take issue with every thing I say. Let me say it again. I believe the Trust will act in the best interests of the club. However, despite this, and because of the information, or lack of it in some areas, surrounding Syed I will retain my doubts until I see the proof demonstrated to the fans. The Trust are receiving far better information than us, the details we have seen are very sketchy and the information published by WGA so laughably poor that I retain a doubt. I really don't understand how I can make it any clearer. If you read den's recent posts he is saying the same thing. I suspect a lot of people have the same view. I don't follow blindly I make up my own mind based on the available evidence. The Trust selling to Syed will go a long way, but he has promised a great deal and will have to prove he means it to those, thousands of us, who have not been privy to the negotiations. The Trust, once the sale has been made, will not tell us any of this.

I think I know what you mean Paul, but aside from that I would be very surprised and disappointed if the Trust having completed the sale to whoever were just to quietly fade away without a word to the Rovers fans. Similarly I feel that we the fans would want to thank them for their efforts and to wish them well in their future ventures.

Is that the Muslim equivalent of Christmas or something similar? Genuine question.......Just wondering.

It's the end of Ramadan.

I hate it. Rusholme in Manchester is almost completely blocked off, making it impossible to travel through (the main bus route passes right through this). Basically they just seem to cram the road with cars, beep horns loudly and shout a lot.

Thanks for the tip off- I need to get to and from Christies Hospital tomorrow.

I love it. All the kids stay at home and you can catch up with all your paper work, marking etc. The kids call it their equivalent of Christmas because they get money and presents and get to eat loads of food that they spend days preparing. They have 2 a year but the other one is not preceded by a month or more of fasting. Eid Mubarak to all our Muslim fans.

It might be okay during the day, but definitely awful at night. It's faster to walk from the University through Rusholme to Fallowfield in the evening (though not very practical).

I'll be travelling through there when I leave work in half an hour, so I'll let you know how bad it is, I'm hoping as it'll be 3.30 ish it won't be that bad! It was pretty bad last night though and it hadn't started then, the roads looked like they were being prepared too. Sometimes they'll divert the buses around Rusholme if it gets really bad, but this adds at least 20 minutes onto that small part of the journey.

Since we all have incomplete information, no one can make an informed judgment and anyone with sense is fence sitting to one degree or the other.
