tony gale's mic Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 The statement is pretty comprehensive and it includes a mea culpa. Makes any new attack look churlish but it also reads in such a way that the PR people have thought three moves ahead and have their answers to any ripostes well-prepared depending on whether they are worth answering or not. It also claims that Syed is from a totally different part of India to where 5 Live claimed he was which is utterly false. Granted it conceded as an afterthought he was from the same state but since that state is 260,000 square kilometres when in fact he's from a village about 10 mins down the road as the place where 5 live went don't you think that's just a little misleading?

You mean like saying someone from Blackburn is actually from Burnley?
tony gale's mic Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 You mean like saying someone from Blackburn is actually from Burnley? Firstly India is much bigger than the UK. But it's a bit like them saying that someone thought to be from Burnley was from a different part of Europe, when in fact they were from Blackburn. In terms of scale given that where he's from appears to be a village and Bhongir seems to be the nearest town, you'd still expect those people he asked to know his family if they were so successful. I doubt there's too many billionaires sprung up within that ten mile radius...
ewoodpo Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 You mean like saying someone from Blackburn is actually from Burnley? Nah can't see that happening why would somebody say a daft thing like that
67splitscreen Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 It will have taken so long to REALLY investigate if any of the claims were true. He has answered all the accusations. Enough for me. Are you Stephen Prior? if so your posts are still on the 5 Live wall. You need to click '5 Live investigates and others' Thanks for that, i didn't know your post get moved to different areas. deleted the excess, saved them a job. I'm sure they are quite busy in meetings.

The statement also stated that it is part of the same state.
philipl Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 The programme incorrectly stated that Mr Ali grew up in Bhongir. In fact, Mr Ali’s family come from a different district in India called Bibinagar, albeit that both places are in the same state of Andra Pradesh. That is the wording they use. It remains the fact that if you look for Townley Hall in the Blackburn Land Registry, you are not going to find it.

Do you not find it reasonably significant that he admits to paying up the CCJ in full, an admittance that he has doen wrong? It may not be heavy duty, but it hits back at the allegations levelled at him by 5live. You have been very vocal this week about the silence from by WGA and Mr.Ali, then the minute a statement is issued you poo poo it immediatly. Somebody write a wiki page for Mr.Ali, maybe that will provide the proof this guy is after.

Utterly False? So if your born in Burnley, you can actually class that as Blackburn? It is FACTUALLY incorrect as his team point out - There is around 10 miles distance between the two places mentioned "The programme incorrectly stated that Mr Ali grew up in Bhongir. In fact, Mr Ali’s family come from a different district in India called Bibinagar, albeit that both places are in the same state of Andra Pradesh. This is where Mr Ali’s family made their wealth through owning substantial agricultural land" A few points about Andra Pradesh state - In the 2001 census it had over 75m population compared to 49m for England......Now where did BBC ask people exactly??

If you can't see the fact they're claiming 5 Live got the location of his origins in a "different district of India" when this is patently false and 5 Live did in fact ask the people immediately around his area then you're just blinding yourself to the facts. I haven't been vocal about this chap's silence at all, that's barely figured into what i've said. What I have commented on a lot is the lack of ANY EVIDENCE that this chap is a billionaire and will be able to invest £300 million into Rovers like he claims. The wiki page was just an example but as I said earlier it's inconcievable someone can be so successful in their field as to be worth billions yet at the same time not talked about at all. This chap might well have access to the funds to buy Blackburn Rovers - I have never said he didn't. What I am still very much skeptical about are the claims of his ability to bankroll us as much as he claims. Utterly False? So if your born in Burnley, you can actually class that as Blackburn? They're part of the same district though (Nalgonda), so even if you take it in the literal context it's still not true. Bibinagar is a village and Bhongir is the nearest town. If someone heard there was a billionaire in Mellor, surely going to the nearest town Blackburn would produce a few people that knew him? It doesn't refute what 5 live did whatsoever.
imy9 Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Tony-i would be more concerned about the funding was it not for the fact that he has TWO confirmed 300 million deals and a billion dollar deal is the process of being completed, so he obviously has money and has invested.
Dufflite Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Its a leisurely 13km drive from Bhongir to Bibinagar. Takes about 14 minutes - longer if you stop for a leg stretch. Our friend is splitting hairs but nevertheless the BBC screwed up and now look like twits.
broadsword Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 If the guy doesn't have the money he claims to have, why is he still talking to Rovers? I'm not going one way or the other at the moment. The whole thing has me very confused.
Hughesy Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 Other than signing his name in blood then im not quite sure what more he can do to prove his story....lets not forget the language barrier either when getting his message across, he had troubles with it when he was on the radio at the beginning. Goldberg received a letter from a lawyer How do you know?

Cubbie Station hasn't been completed as far as I know. McCabe is not allowed to talk any more about their deal besides his initial statement and the first mention of it anywhere was at the tail end of July, interestingly a couple of days before he started talking to the papers about buying Rovers - has that deal actually been completed? Which is this billion dollar deal you speak of, I havent even heard anything about that?
rebelmswar Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 From Facebook. "It would seem many of you have seen the response from WGA before we did. We didn't receive a statement from Citigate PR, but we did receive a letter from a lawyer. We were told this letter is 'not for publication' yet extracts have appeared on other websites, before we received our copy. We'll respond in more detail on... Sunday's show, but in the meantime we're happy to have alerted Mr Ali to his county court debt."
thenodrog Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I love it. All the kids stay at home and you can catch up with all your paper work, marking etc. The kids call it their equivalent of Christmas because they get money and presents and get to eat loads of food that they spend days preparing. They have 2 a year but the other one is not preceded by a month or more of fasting. Eid Mubarak to all our Muslim fans. Hey do white taxi drivers charge double today? eid mubarak fellas.

The BBC screwed up by asking people in the nearest town if they know a billionaire from a village in the local area who's said his family have been doing business in the area for 150 years? Sounds pretty reasonable to me..
