[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

Oh Tony, did you notice this on the facebook page?

"5 live Investigates Michael - we haven't published any of the letter. It was leaked to someone and published on the BRFCS site -- but not by us. We read the other information on the BRFCS site before we had received the letter ourselves. The site published the info at 17.25hrs. We didn't receive the email/letter with the statement until 18.14hrs."

That's a lie, it was a press statement sent to one of our forum members, there was no 'leak'....

But I suppose I'm just splitting hairs right?

17:25? Not the time I made it occuring... Though it wqas mentioned about the LT picking up the story around that time...

(Thats a criticism of Goldberg, by the way. If you are reading this Adrian, will you mention me, please?)

Ooo Ooo Glenn can we sue, can we, can we?!? Pleeeassee! Uncle Syed will pay the legal fees if we lose!

Haha he was addressing me there.

On a serious note do we really want them being sued when the general public finance them? Not a good way to introduce himself. I would imagine that what has happened this evening is just a warning shot.

During the investigates program on Sunday night just befor they switch at 11.00min to the phone link with Joseph Anthony the reporter from Hindu News, Goldberg states that Syed had previously told the BBC in an interview the only one he had given them, that he stated (Ali) had told them he grew up in Bhongir.

That interview is here the first part of the interview about Syed's background has been edited out. It now starts in mid sentence of a reply from Syed.

Make of it what you will.

Had the original program recorded on my freeview box.

Goldberg does state the Ali told them he grew up on Bhongir.

Just prior to this section in the broadcast version, they make the allegations re: the congestion charge and the unpaid council tax. Have they pulled those sections also?

Here is a non-official statement from the Trust to Mr Ali

show-me-the-money.jpg

Just about sums it up for me at the end of a long week (work - not the takeover, which I can't affect).

How hard can it actually be guys? Four weeks inspecting the books? (this one's OK, no ripped pages, nice index). Four days to issue a statement against the BBC allegations. Why the delay?

"I have £300m to invest in BRFC. £100M immediately." OK - do it then - wack it into the Nat West Rovers Account and away we go. By all means limit us to a "measely" £10m spend on transfers per year for the next 30 years - we'll manage the wage structure. We'll all be delighted!

Then again we're looking at loans aren't we? Course we are. The more we spend the greater the risk - the bigger the reward / the bigger the loss.

We need an investor who can provide us with just a wee bit more than the Trust do (which is next to nothing - but then we aren't swimming in debt are we?). Nothing spectacular. As and when required - you know - to pull off an Andy Cole or Grabbi (good grief) type of signing / investment occasionally. That's all.

"Here's £300m guys" - that's what he said. So why the delay?

A multi billionaire with the greatest marketing kick boxer from France and it takes them four days to get another PR team to issue a statement against unpaid flat accomodation and a £61K outstanding debt.

And they still can't get their money in. Mind you remember we're talking about an organisation that employs 11 people world wide but has 3,200 consultants. And consultants don't come cheap do they?

Put the money into the Rovers account and the club is yours. It's for sale at a price. Meet it. Prove it. Put your money where your mouth is.

It's good that there has been a statement from the Syed camp - shame it did not come sooner or before the radio programme went out.

The bit that puzzled me was why the chap didn't know about this CCJ for £61,500...it was obviously his debt as he has paid it.

I wonder who that was owed to and for what?

Anyway, one thing is clear...Syed is still keen to do a deal and keep his multi-faceted attempt at buying companies going.

But nobody has answered why Big Sam - who knows more about this than most - said it was 'doubtful' just 24 hours ago.

There will be a lot going on regarding this subject and hopefully something real in the next day or so.

As someone else on here knows the other 'Indians' have been going about their own bid in mysterious ways. I have no idea if they are serious opponents, bigger or richer or better.

However the next couple of days should put a lot of people hopefully out of their misery.

And as for MikeB looking for odds I would say Cardiff, Coventry and Reading make a good treble tomorrow.

No the investigation report is still in it's original state, it's the phone link interview between the Beeb and Syed on the 18th August that's been edited in my link previous.

If it means the dingles, manc's and the rest contributing to our war chest why not. ;)

You mean this one? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/blackburn_rovers/8923870.stm

I for one can get the page but not the clip. Guess it's been fully taken down now, or maybe my connection is playing up.

Did he not leave the flat in May 05, the CCJ was ordered Jan 2007.

I feel it is sad that people on this board, and even a thirsty (we must be right, or we will keep digging for dirt campaign) BBC , have the moral to interrupt with a great chance for Blackburn Rovers to be able to compete financially with the rest. The club has been given a golden opportunity, created by the fact that they are (still) in the Premier League, (arguably the best league in the world). Well, when Blackburn Rovers are a championship club, the interest is off, so why would people interfere and spread doubt about this potential takeover is beyond me.

We have the Trust, the Blackburn directors, a bank, several lawyers etc that are PAID to do qualified examinations of any buyer, and those are the people that are in any position to make the call whether this deal should go through or not. Some people on this board are acting like the BBC fellows, hunting down people like they were running for president in the U.S!

If any of you got in the public eye, I wouldn't want you to get in this same position. As finding dirt on people are an easy thing to do. It doesn't even has to make sense or be true, just smudge together something that creates a negative public opinion, and the rest would take care of itself. People would start talking back and forth, and end up doing silly accusations based on hearsay and stupidity (yes, a lot of opinions on this board goes into that category). This is a guerilla tactic, and works every time due to the public and boards like this. Go ahead, think of any great person in this world, gather a BBC investigative team, and I PROMISE you, you could spin that person into being the devil in matter of days.

I post this because I think all of this C/R/A/P is damaging to both the takeover attempts and to the club of Blackburn Rovers. Imagine you are J.willams, the directors and the Trust, who actually would know if this was a golden opportunity or not, and then you were told by takeovers that they are backing off due to stupid damaging claims and witchhunts by media (which has arguably started due to the pompeys, glaziers, gilletts). These failures are not Mr Syed's fault, and not Blackburn Rovers fault.

So I ask the BBC and the people on this board to have some respect for the process, and give the club their fair chance to make this decision for themselves. Because it is THEIR decision to make!

In all seriousness, I have asked them politely (via their facebook page) to make a statement confirming what they read on here was a press release, not some confidential correspondence as they initially claimed. If it was a genuine mistake on their part and they clarify it, then fine, we all screw up.

But if anyone has a tame lawyer on hand, especially one that understands our financial situation (we're funded by your donations) then I'd love you to send them our way. I don't like the idea of fighting the BBC on this.

... and it goes without saying, like any copyrighted or private content you come across, DO NOT post it here, we're not wikileaks and if you DO see anything that might be infringing privacy or copyright, hit that report button so we can be on it in a second.

If this wasn't such a serious matter, I'd be joking that only a couple of days that I told you all about when the LET got heavy with us for publishing a press release (many years ago), and now the BBC seem to be making similar accusations.

Not surprised your concerned Glenn. I've thought a couple of times over the last week you have been doing well not to lock this thread (and related off topics in others) down.

Glenn that was an official press release sent to via me for BRFCS. It was e-mailed to me at 17.55 by Ian Morris of Citigate, due to Eid celebration's I didn't see it until bit later. I still have the e-mail saved if there is any comeback from Goldberg or BBC.

I wouldn't worry too much about it Glenn. It seems that WGA have sent that press release out. I think Goldberg was trying to suggest something else was underhand from the Syed camp. He's probably a little sore and no doubt will be getting a mauling from the BBC's legal dept first thing tomorrow morning. There's also now a lot of vultures in blue and white shirts on his facebook page.

A few people were sent that pr by the way.

It's ok Kamy, not for the first time 5live investigates has got its facts wrong. I would think Goldberg is in deep discussions with his sources trying to make sure they were right for his rebuttal on Sunday.

Feeling a bit better about the status of deal now?

Kamy it was posted on here at 6.05 by Ewoodglory 20 mins before you, no need to worry.

Ewood said it was emailed to him as he asked to be put on the mailing list for fresh news and statements.

Glenn

I posted under my name (Ed Read) on 5 investigates and others that Goldberg was misleading the public and that it was in fact an official press release sent at a members request and at least one other has corobarated(sp?) this.

Not sure if this will help or not
