[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

I'm not, they fit our model just fine. I was using it as further evidence to Paffel that we can't expect serious investment.

Hang on here, my head's swimming. You stated categorically that the new rules PREVENTED new investment which they don't.You're making this up as you go.

Hey guys I'm from India, been a Blackburn fan for just over 20 years now. The PL in India has grown rapidly over last 3-4 years. Earlier kids used to play cricket in the streets now everyone's playing football, this is not only north India its all over. ESPN and STAR sports own the rights for the PL however only 4 live games are shown every week, which I believe is about to change, to show all games live. I'm from Mumbai, and we have quite a large Blackburn following here about 200 people, Manchester United opened a Man U Cafe last year and it is doing very very well. My point being the scope for expansion is huge in this region and if an Indian has anything to do with the ownership of the club the clubs fan base would grow rapidly too in this region. Hope this gives an In site.

Or is it an indication that a sale is nearing.

Ricky, that is a very good guess imo. I cannot see why they would remove the signs etc, unless new funding or owners were on the horizon. Its actually very sad to see that, because 1st it was the 3mill a year, now its this. That to me indicates, that the Walkers are desperate to bail.

Yes Because firstly. Blackburn games are very rarely shown on TV, so out of the 20-30 million people that live there only about a third probably have a TV and when they do watch the PL its always the same teams that are shown, and if you went to a sports bar it would be packed with Man U supporters. About 7 Years ago no one even knew who Chelsea was in India now they are the 2nd most supported team. With the new TV deals that espn star are implementing where all games next season will be shown live, if Blackburn did have an Indian as their owners I think it would be a great opportunity to communicate with those who know nothing about our club.

Maybe our superstar Marketing Manager can find us a new sponsor for the stand...

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

As a marketing ploy, i.e how we come across to the world when we're on TV, I'd like us to set up the TV Cameras facing the dug-outs...It would vastly imrpove the perception of this club/ground to people in other countries....I know it's slightly off-topic but I thought that the marketing people would have done something about it by now....the riverside looks shabby and aged....if we can't afford to build a new one...at least put a new gantry up....:angry:

Splitscreen - do the Walkers actually pay to sponsor that stand though!?!

I don't know, if they didn't someone else no doubt could have.

Does the naming of the two stands not date back to when the ground was rebuilt.

At the time I guess they would have been in aknowledgement to what Jack had done for the club.

Will no doubt lead to more speculation regarding the possibility that new owners on on the horizon.

It must be a very recent decision (almost a knee jerk decision) as all the ST Etc. have gone out under the old names.

The reasons why that is not possible have been discussed at great length for years!

I understand it's been looked at previously. Unfortunately that big round, hot (sometimes) thing in the sky would shine in the general direction of the cameras, were they to face the JW stand.

Same in Thailand and Malaysia I think.

Every single game in Thailand is shown on True Vision, even the 38 dingle games. :(

From the rebuild it has always been the Jack Walker (Nutall Street) stand. But the BBE has had various Sponsors first MacDonald’s family stand, and then I think Rock FM had something too do with it, then Walker Steel.

The younger end would for sure, the older end might not transfer so readily. But the future is the young rem not the trilby and hush puppy and flask brigade.

Anyway put your business head on and you should be able to see that it would only need 25% of supporters to transfer allegiance from each club (you forgot Blackpool) to succeed when one considers the reduction in staffing and all other overheads. Wages and other overheads are the killer. I'm sure the number would be higher than 25%. What would be your considered estimation?

Supporters will not 'transfer allegiance' to other clubs just like that and you know it.Support for ones club runs deep and is a very passionate and intimate affair for most supporters.

Tell you what Theno, if it bothers you so go out and do a poll of Burnley,Rovers and Preston fans and ask them for their honest opinion regarding your 'Lancashire Utd' concept and see the short shrift you are given.....

GIVE IT A BREAK EH!

It's the BBE and Walkersteel, the signs have been taken down apparently.

'Walker steel' Is not a part of the Walker Business Empire as such. Although there is a link of sorts I don't believe that it's trading under any direction of the trust or Fred Walker. It might simply be that the Walker Steel business is not deeming the expense of continued sponsorship worthwhile or alternatively it is ceasing trading / changing direction.

Reported on the local tv and papers, club refusing to dispel rumours and now reports of Walker family business withdrawing sponsorship from Ewood park?...........

I JUST PRAY AND HOPE FOR THE FUTURE OF THIS GREAT CLUB THAT WE ARE SOLD TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE.

Pointless hoping for anything else really, unless your a dingle. ;)
