[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

Supporters will not 'transfer allegiance' to other clubs just like that and you know it.Support for ones club runs deep and is a very passionate and intimate affair for most supporters.

Tell you what Theno, if it bothers you so go out and do a poll of Burnley,Rovers and Preston fans and ask them for their honest opinion regarding your 'Lancashire Utd' concept and see the short shrift you are given.....

GIVE IT A BREAK EH!

You missed the last bit SG. Here I'll repeat it for you.....

"I know people will be queuing up to criticise so I'd ask you not to reply unless you have a better proposal for the future of football in this area. Constructive comments rather than stereotypical criticism please."

Off you go..... :tu:

btw I'll not hold my breath. :P

The 'future of football in this area' remains as it is...with Rovers leading the areas 'town clubs' and competing in the same league as the so called big boys.

There you go.Please feel free to hold your breath on this subject for as long as possible. :P

There was certainly no suggestion that anything was very imminent when we asked the question at the Fans Forum on Monday. This is the minute: -

3. Possible Takeover

JohnW asked for an update on any possible takeover of the club. TF confirmed that there was ongoing interest and discussions but it was difficult to speculate as to whether or not these would ultimately lead to a takeover. The Walker Trust had confirmed their interest in selling the club some years ago, having recognised that they could no longer provide the necessary funds to support a Premier League team long term.

With talks of interest from India, this is interesting timing or just coincidence...

Your right some coincidence, I was hoping for the Ambani brothers now they are loaded.

Laxhmi Mithal Is one of the richest men in the world , I'm sure he had some involvement with QPR , not exactly splashing the cash is he .

Looks like they've made their interest public. A bit too early or not?

If what he is saying is right, then they have negotiated the right of first refusal. Not sure if this is true or not as of now. My outlet within the consortium has gone "quiet" over the last 24-36 hours so maybe this could make sense at this time.

Oliver Kay has "broken" this too.

Are we going to end up being Blackburn Rovers Football & Cricket Club soon? :P

Its interesting about getting a foot-hold in the Indian market, but I hope the club doesnt lose its identity and become a tool for cheap marketing of the bigger project that is the IPL. How much money do these guys have is my first question and my second question is can we bring in the strong Asian population of Blackburn. If so, then I think attendances would be boosted big time. A bright future? Im really nervously excited!

Cant help but be slightly nervous about a takeover the main focus of business is to make money, I dont see were money is to be made at Rovers without landing the club in debt, if a fan had wanted to buy and put money into the club I could understand his reasons.

Very interesting development, the Indian link makes a ton of sense to me.

I still don't understand how many on here can be simultaneously obsessed with the need to be part of the Premier League, which is a global phenomenon, and the desire to have an ownership straight out of the 19th century, a local fan with a big wedge.

If we, as a small town team, are going to stay in this globally popular league long term, it will only be with owners who are far more capable and willing to create value from such global appeal than the Trust.

Time to evolve I think. I hope they put their money where their mouths are.

Let's wait and see what happens, we have been told before that we were on the verge of being bought and nothing came of it. Fans are bound to be nervous when there is talk of possible takeovers because its completely out of our hands what may happen. All you can do is put trust in those who currently run the club in picking the right person.

IIRC Nicko mentioned that one party interested might be just seeking 'publicity', it looks like one group have gone public...
