[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

I have to conclude seeing this I hope it does go through as it will boost attendances from the Asian population in the area and seeing as I'm Indian it would be good and he would be able to connect with the wider asian community and seeing as he is good marketing brands overseas it will help our merchandising streams out there I think it could be good for this club. Now it's fingers, thumbs, toes crossed this goes through.

I thought I would share some info might give some insight into the finances of one of the individuals Mukesh Ambani

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mukesh_Ambani

it would seem as tho he is 4th richest person in the world owns an IPL club Mumbai Indians so it looks as tho he will be able to put his hand in his pocket for transfers!

Night all.

Not wishing to put words into your mouth, but a lot of people seem to think that multi-billionaire, Mukesh Ambani, is the Indian interested in signing us.

All we appear to know as of now is that he was linked with Liverpool and that it is another group involving a Saurin Shah whom are in talks with the trust.

If the Indian billionaire is the potential buyer, I think we will be doing very well compared to other potential buyers. The man is loaded, a shrewd businessman and something of a philanthropist. Their general thinking appears good. All in all, we as a club may do VERY well.

I think you've got the wrong end of the stick - our chap isn't a billionaire as far as we know.

So they do in China too - doesnt Stop United making mega money from there though!

Shirt sales, merchandise, sponsorship, big payday friendlies...it all counts. It might also help to attract more fans in the UK

United don't make mega money in China though - they make a handy amount of cash but it doesn't represent a hugely significant source of revenue for them. Maybe in the context of our budget it would be a large amount but you have to look at these things proportionally.

This chap seems to be basing his pitch on getting revenue streams by selling Rovers in India. Sure if we do well it may generate a bit of handy pocket money but I certainly can't see how it'll generate enough to call it a viable investment.

Also China is significantly keener on football than India is where one sport dominates all.

Some random info about his brother...

Mr. Niranjan Shah is a well-renowned person in the cricket industry – ex cricketer & vice chairman of the IPL. Jaydev Niranjan Shah, following the footsteps of his father Niranjan Shah is one of the best players of Mumbai Indians and is very important left hand batsman....his son Jaydev Shah now plays for Mumbai Indians. Mumbai Indians were the most watched team on television in the first edition of the IPL tournament, totaling 239 million viewers.

Not sure which one Shah is...been trying to find wealthy one from mumbai.....not sure what his business is..

Could be - Saurin Shah - Ashtech Infotech - Mumbai - Links with Apple, Oracle etc...

About company

info on the boss Shah

or this one....

Saurin Shah – games company – 34m apps for iphone sold, over 80 xbox titles (Digital Chocolate)

or could be this one.....

Family Business that could be worth big bucks

Having an avid interest in chemicals, and pharmaceutical, taking the plunge into the family business of pharma indenting was the obvious choice for Shah..

Was listening to Talksport before (c. 7pm) and Collymore said he was sat next to the Stoke and Blackburn chairmen on the way to South Africa.

Anyone else hear that?

He initially said Blackpool but corrected himself to Blackburn

Confirmed on Stan's twitter.

Surely the sale of the club/any transfers wont happen whilst John Williams is 6,000 miles away!!

Thought Stan hadnt had a twitter page for quite a while now due to being abused about his depression

As i suspected last night, Lancashire Telegraph reports that the Indian group have made or will make a formal offer for Rovers later today. Other groups are also still interested. Looks like this .4s nearing final stages of a purchase.

Also Stan probably means Rob Coar.

It's all very interesting, now the cat is out of the bag. I admit I've not heard of this chap, but if he's a good businessman, and has a gift for PR, then it might turn out well. I wonder if John Williams will stay on though. He has been very steady and apart from one big cock up (we know what that was), and seems to be good at his job.

The trust dont give a $hit about us - why should they care about some publicity?! If anything it could intrest others and get them a better price!!

You do post some cretinous stuff at times.

Your most recent post is important- there are more than one person with the name Saurin Shah who have achieved things in life.

The Sun of course cannot spell his name correctly and printed a picture of some empty seats at Ewood. Typical Murdoch rubbish.

Stop winding up Waggy John!

Didn't think about that. I'd be happy for Sam to stay, but I'd not want any new owner to pick a 'big name' manager for the sake of PR. So no Tony Adams or Roy Keane characters, who were great players, but incompetent managers thank you.

Looks like things are going to happen whether we like it or not.

One thing fills me with ease. The club have been highly selective with who they have dealt with in the past, although one could argue no one has actually made an offer yet.

They were always going to happen whether we liked it or not!

Wrong end of the stick me thinks.

I was referring to the amount of EPL games shown rather than support.

I'm not sure if they (True vision is a Thai company)supply the sat links for Malaysia or they have their own Sat company.

EPL games are shown live in Malaysia - pain in the butt staying up late for a 3pm kick off in the uk and it is 10pm in Malaysia. Well the 5.30pm kick off in the uk is of course worse as it is 12.30 AM in Malaysia. That puts a lot of them off. They have their own sat station - which is heavily cencured as Malaysia is a muslim country. So any sexual, violent or bad launguage stuff is cut out of the programes or films.

r

Or Razzmatazz may mean for Rovers, out with pre-match pie, in with pre-match curry. Then run to nearest toilet after match.

LT confirms the Indian based bid, says a GROUP of businessmen.

The LT understands a offer will be faxed today to Roschilds or already has been. Also confirms the agent is fronting the bid.

The article from the Indian press talks about the group about to examine the club's books. Things have moved on apace haven't they?

I really love the theory of this increasing our revenue streams in Asia significantly but I really struggle to see how it would do so significantly. Most shirts sold on the subcontinent are fakes anyway. Most of our revenue streams from Asia come from the TV deals which won't be affected by who owns us. Sorry to be downbeat about this but I'm struggling to see any tangible benefit to our current arrangement and very possibly things could get a lot worse.

Pre-season tours, I would guess. From what I've read in the past, all of the disposable income in India is crying out for live, top-class sporting events. Even when small countries have come to play football exhibition matches, they have sold out.

Won't quite be the amounts that United make on their far east tours, but it sounds like it might gross enough to pay MGPs wages for the year, at least.

I've been doing my best to warm some of you guys up on here to the idea that football has moved on and is now a global business. It's on this basis alone that others have been looking at us, but in this instance we have a group who whilst not in the camp of passionate 'local millionaires' they are much closer to it than the others given their identification with a large proportion of the local population.

New cashflows will in the main be global cashflows not local cashflows and that means marketing and local know-how in countries like India. I'm always stunned at the frequent 'whats the point' responses, we won't/can't because ... fill in the gap.

This bid still hasn't completed and we may end up disappointed again, but at least there's interest out there from people who we can feel comfortable with (IMO).

I'd caution against any expectation that a sale will mean massive transfer funds, I really don't see much changing on that front. So many billionaires in the EPL right now and they can't all buy the title, so us throwing money into a wild title challenge doesn't make much sense (to me at least). I think a period of slow but consistent development is much more the order of the day.

As I've said to anyone who's been prepared to listen - our future is about branding and marketing and the untapped potential of the global population. Others have gone this route and others are trying to follow so there is a small window of opportunity to get it right. I'm hoping this bid will come to fruition and that we proceed quietly but forcefully. Probably no coincidence that this is emerging in the World Cup weeks.

"He plans to bring IPL-style razzmatazz to Rovers". Who's Razzmatazz? Sounds like a Indian fast bowler.

Razzamataz to the streets of Blackburn!!!!'And some seeds fell on stoney ground' as it says in the Good Book. :wstu:

Good grief.... Half of Higher Croft will think it's the name of some slug pellet or rat poison thats been adopted as a new and cheap hallucinogen whilst it just sounds like a good name for a curry to me.

.... I wonder if John Williams will stay on though. He has been very steady and apart from one big cock up (we know what that was), and seems to be good at his job.

I'd imagine he's at the time of life where he'd jump at the chance of a big fat payout. I would.
