[Archived] Rovers Might Have Been Sold?

Recommended Posts

I've been doing my best to warm some of you guys up on here to the idea that football has moved on and is now a global business. It's on this basis alone that others have been looking at us, but in this instance we have a group who whilst not in the camp of passionate 'local millionaires' they are much closer to it than the others given their identification with a large proportion of the local population.

New cashflows will in the main be global cashflows not local cashflows and that means marketing and local know-how in countries like India. I'm always stunned at the frequent 'whats the point' responses, we won't/can't because ... fill in the gap.

This bid still hasn't completed and we may end up disappointed again, but at least there's interest out there from people who we can feel comfortable with (IMO).

I'd caution against any expectation that a sale will mean massive transfer funds, I really don't see much changing on that front. So many billionaires in the EPL right now and they can't all buy the title, so us throwing money into a wild title challenge doesn't make much sense (to me at least). I think a period of slow but consistent development is much more the order of the day.

As I've said to anyone who's been prepared to listen - our future is about branding and marketing and the untapped potential of the global population. Others have gone this route and others are trying to follow so there is a small window of opportunity to get it right. I'm hoping this bid will come to fruition and that we proceed quietly but forcefully. Probably no coincidence that this is emerging in the World Cup weeks.

Hear hear TJ. As someone who works in the buyout industry I couldn't agree more. I know a lot of people will argue 'better the devil you know' but in that case it's a matter of when, not if. Sure it's riskier, but the potential is there to make us a long term sustainable venture.

It's staggering that people would be surprised that investors are looking to make money out of this. WTF do you people think they would be looking at it for? As someone else has said, the days of having a local businessman own a club are long gone. We were blessed, but it's time to move forward or be left behind.

The Sun of course cannot spell his name correctly and printed a picture of some empty seats at Ewood. Typical Murdoch rubbish.

I know what you mean of course but just as an aside how do you describe The Times Philip?

What were you guys saying about foreign takeovers by people with no connection with the club ? ;)

Remind us please mick.

The article from the Indian press talks about the group about to examine the club's books. Things have moved on apace haven't they?

They will already have done that under a confidentiallity clause which begs the question who broke the story?

Probably no coincidence that this is emerging in the World Cup weeks.

Is that the 'it's a good day to bury bad news' tactic TJ?

25m's a steal. I'd imagine a return to reallity with ST prices will be enough to pay the interest on the purchase money. :tu:

"He plans to bring IPL-style razzmatazz to Rovers".

Bollywood dancers pre match, Bollywood stars doing the half time draw.

Better get your season tickets paid for, the place will be packed to the rafters.

Taxi for BollEwood:lol:

Still on that daft crusade Abbs? I thought you'd given credit where credit was due to the club, retired to a safe distance,....... and left waggy to cop for the flak. ^_^

Credit for final place..NO credit for boredom or what he stands for.

so should we know something today then. Will the club be making an statement today? The sun article makes me laugh and quite excited when it says the club could be about to host a load of top star names, if the takeover goes through!!!

I'm not looking for someone to pump mega bucks into the club, let's face it its highly unlikely that we will get someone like that.

Someone or a group of individuals who have the finances to invest say for example £10-15 million more or less each season, meaning that we can hold onto our best players longer and that the money provided is spent wisely on the right players would be good enough for me.

Thing is, at the moment, we just don't know if these guys are going to understand football. Or in this case, how much money they have, which is obviously of fundamental importance.

I don't expect and envisage anyone coming in and splashing millions but vital (obviously) they are financially sound. So many takeovers, particularly from foreign owners, have lacked any logical thought and most have been failures.

Also, this idea that Blackburn can infiltrate India and start creating huge amounts of revenue, just can’t see it…..

About company

info on the boss Shah

or this one....

So many "dont see it" but surely given our current situation isnt it worth a try?

We shouldnt gamble the future of the club on it, but we should be aware of tapping into other markets.

Vinjay's straight in there!

That guy is a complete tool isn't he, I have seen a number of posts by him, anybody got an idea why he appears so down on the Walkers?
