Amo Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 What I don't get is why the transfer talks are "on hold" until the takeover is settled? Surely this wouldn't affect the budget we have allotted for transfers? It's surplus cash and hardly a king's ransom, either.

ewoodpo Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I think they will eventually plump for a bigger name. Even Hughes possibly cause of his Man City link. How the mighty have fallen though if he goes there. It's all about Dirhams for Hughes and his three cronies . If he'd really wanted a job in this country he would have had one by now.
ABBEY Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 nicko, any truth sheik nvack is taking us over to put the freshness back?
47er Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 I think that 2.25M is burning a hole in Sam's pocket. He doesn't want to wait for a takeover, he wants to go out and spend spend spend!
nicko Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 nicko, any truth sheik nvack is taking us over to put the freshness back? Sheikh Someaction...that's what I need
Billy Castell Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 We're ___ked if these stories are true. A takeover that is stalling, no money, deadwood that won't shift and a manager that wants to leave.
John Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Just think, if Sam left now, they might have to put a temporary manager in charge until takeover talks have been resolved - Peter Reid or Dowie...?
Billy Castell Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Peter Reid manages Plymouth now. Thankfully. Now, who was that guy who did OK at Milton Keynes again?...... I hope the takeover thing just sorts itself out one way or another quickly. It is holding everything up.
Billy Castell Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Was that a reply to me Derek? If so, what are you on about?

Which club are you talking about Billy? A take over that's stalling? - That can't be Rovers, preliminary talks are in place, these things take time. No Money - O.k but that's been the case for a long time Deadwood that won't shift? - Could be one of a number of clubs so you've lost me there A manager that wants to leave? - where on earth have you got that from? Do you write for the Daily Sport?
deryck guyler's spoon Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Was that a reply to me Derek? If so, what are you on about? Sorry, Billy no not you. It was a reply to John's suggestion of messrs Dowie and Reid as interim manager. It's lateish here and I'm in the grip of the grape!
Billy Castell Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Fair enough, but I think John was being tongue-in-cheek with his suggestion. At least I hope he was.

deryck guyler's spoon Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Yes I was! My adled attempt at light hearted banter has back fired. Lets move on.
Mr. E Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I think it's kind of sad these deals aren't public and dependent on the approval of the fans. They are the most important part of any club, they should have a say in such matters.

They are the most important part of any club, they should have a say in such matters. That has got to be be the most ludicrous suggestion I have ever heard Mr E. The fans have every right (as with Liverpool and Man Utd) to start a consortium to raise the capital to buy the club. It is crazy to suggest we should ahve any say in what someone does with their private wealth and assets. What is this, communist China?

What is this, communist China? ...yes, suggesting that fans, the people whom without the club would not exist, should have a say in important matters concerning the club is exactly like communist China. let's see how much these "private wealth and assets" would amount to without the fans. Attitude like this is the very reason modern football came to be. With the fat cats taking the fans for granted, and some (like you) even getting riled up at the mere suggestion that the fans shouldn't be completely ignored. I wonder if Jack Walker would also compare the concerns and suggestions of the fans as "communist China".

I wonder if Jack Walker would also compare the concerns and suggestions of the fans as "communist China". Put it this way. I shop at Sainsburys every week, and it's true that without me and other shoppers like me the company likely wouldn't exist. Does that mean, based on your rationale, that I should be consulted if someone was to come in and buy Sainsburys from it's existing owners? Should the deal be made public and approval made subject to our consent? Fans are an important element of a football club, but at the end of the day people need to distinguish between public and private enterprise.

Indeed but if said group converted Sainsburys into executive flats you'd find another supermarket. The same principles don't quite hold with football clubs. I agree with you mind, fans can't possibly have a say in things as complex as that and at what level do you become a "fan with a right to a say"?

Of course, because you are passionate about the football club but the supermarket is more or less a convenience or slight brand loyalty factor. The argument still holds though, which from a fan's perspective is frustrating, modern sport is a business at the end of the day.
Veevs Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 From what I hear - in the past couple of days - this takeover thing may be more advanced than anyone is letting on. However the time I hear for potential completion is 'the start of the season.' And that would be no good for anyone. Thought this may be appropriate here.. as with Sams comments on LT seems like a hell of allot going on behind the scenes here.. lets hope it sorts itself soon..
Veevs Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 hmm.. didnt realise that Mumbai alone has like 11 billionares, fingers crossed one is in the consortium lol.. Forbes list
